They say Dechaine Dumped, come defend yourself.

From what Keith says, a "tom" is somebody who is a nit, somebody who knocks a game: "He's tomming the match." It's a derogatory term.

Down here in Texas, a tom is simply a male turkey......good eatin'!!!

Maniac (has no use for the spurs and the beard)

OMG! I didn't even think about that meaning. :o

Huh, I hadn't heard of it being used that way before. We have several derogatory words that are used for that but the forum rules prevent me from repeating them here!

Why is it that nobody can defeat anyone? There is always an excuse. Earl just crushed Dechaine, and the first thing people start typing is DUMP. Come on people. He has a pretty damn big ego, do you really think he would dump to Earl. He wants to be considered the best in the world. Did you see the way he was acting in his chair when Earl made shots? How he ran out of the building? No Dumping just an old fashioned ass kicking.

This thought just came to mind. Who would have thought the talk would be about anyone but Earl? Earl was well behaved on the stream even when he got his butt kicked in the Driver's seat match.

I did NOT dump. I never would do something like that. Like this guy said, my ego is way to big for that. There were three things that I didn't like that went on in the match. Earl played on that table 8 times over the past two days and I played on it twice. The balls played like mud. And lastly, I played TWO matches yesterday. One at 2pm and the other at 7:30 or close to it. Thats just crazy to me, but still a great tournament and in memory of a legend. Thanks Tony.

There was really only 2 guys in chat that claimed that but one of them would post 'dumping big time' or similar every minute or so. His name was Kawaa or something like that. No one should have even acknowledged those posts and no one did for the longest time. He was a terrible handicapper and had to find an excuse for why he couldnt pick his nose.

So when?

When did it start being called the "Hot Seat" anyway,or was i just out of touch. In the last 5 or 6 years i've heard it called the hot seat. Every tournement i played in before that , i only heard it called "The Hill" playing for the hill.. Being on the Hill etc

No wonder pro's don't like to post here often. Who would if they got treated like that.

Congrats to Earl on a good win. BTW Mike, were not all like that on here.

Mike:

I have to agree with Chris, here. I would think the majority of the readership here believe that you did NOT dump. It's just not in you or like you to do so.

Rather, I think it's some of the livestream chat barflies -- aka "pinhead gallery" (if you say that fast enough, you can make it sound sorta like "peanut gallery") -- that are crying because they lost their railbird bets.

I'm just shaking my head in disbelief that you are getting these accusations, and *then a thread* created asking you to "explain and defend yourself."

Un-freakin'-believable!

Nasty's best term was calling cross side banks a cross face. Sometimes he even called cross corner banks a cross face. Every time he said it I had a mental image of one player slamming his arm across his opponents face in the wrestling move of the same name. Technically I guess he was right because the cue ball does cross the face of the object ball but I got a laugh out of it every time.

Drivers seat is still gay though.

I've never heard it called "driver's seat" either so I expect it must be a regional thing, as was pointed out by the gentleman from dakota. ;)

It doesn't really strike me bad, though. Seems like if you win the winner's side you are in the driver's seat - especially if somebody has to double dip you for the cheese.

now, speaking of sounding gay . . . . :eek::D:eek:

Some questions should not be answered....
...if a lawyer asks you if you're still beating your wife..don't say a thing.
I think Mike should treat this thread title the same way

Ahha !

From what I saw the CB defections were NOT doing what I think they should be doing. Cloth playing like mud may do this but I KNOW if the CB is smaller or lighter in weight this can be a very big problem until you have alot of time to adjust. After 5 hour delay since your last match the cloth could change or the CB could be switched.

I never liked the big delay or lighter/smaller CB"s !

He doesn't need to acknowledge it, much less address it. In fact, 'as your attorney, I advise you...'.

I thought you might like this BB, it's my office door at work!

Being on the hill is when you are one game away from winning the set not getting to the tournament finals. Only term I ever heard for playing for the last 2 spots in the tournament is the Hot Seat.

There's no way Mike dumped and for some bozo on a forum to claim it because he heard it from some other bozo in a chat room who was sitting around in his underwear sucking down Coors Lights is unconscionable. Earl caught a gear and was doing his bazooka show where he one-strokes balls and runs sub-60-second racks. That has to be dispiriting, even to someone as gifted as Mike. Also, Earl opened his acceptance speech by saying, "Well, I'm really not in top form now." How would you like to hear that when you just got shellacked by the guy? Give Mike a break. Earl played great, Mike played less great. It happens. They're humans.

That seems to happen A LOT around here on these boards.

Sorta like the type of situation that happened recently on here, whereby someone attempted to publicly give a player a new nickname based on that player's performance in one match, a match of which the "nickname giver" wasn't even present at, but instead the nickname-giver went by some third-hand match information that -- get this -- someone TXTed to his phone, and misspelled the nickname, no less!

Mike's form has been so strong of late, with something around fifteen straight match wins between Truning Stone and Amsterdam, that it's easy to look for an alternative explanation for his loss to Earl.

Truth is, he just played bad. Even the elite play bad sometimes. I'd rather celebrate the fine pool Mike has shown us of late than make a baseless claim of impropriety against him.

Mike had a bad match, and explaining his loss begins and ends there.

Thanks to Mike, Earl, Tony Robles, Gail Glazebrook and everyone at Amsterdam Billiards for a great show this past weekend.

PS I hate the thread title, which does not identify who "they" are. Reporting that an accusation has been made without identifying the accusers is somewhere between lame and disgraceful. Suggesting that Mike needed to post in this thread to defend himself against this unsupported accusation is just plain disgusting.
