Tony Vs Dennis Chit Chat Thread

Am I correct in saying with the format they are using Dennis would need to win 17 games to take the lead tonight? Sure could make for a long night.

Checkers and Chess

I saw somewhere, someone said Dennis was playing checkers while Tony was playing chess......being that 1P is supposedly more of a mental game, is Tony more advanced in his decisions and choices? The other thing I was wondering about was why do they put the big money numbers out there? I mean, are they going to have to give Uncle Sam his cut?

I agree. And I may be the only one that thinks this but I feel like Dennis played one pocket a little over his head when he played Scott. He is amazing don't get me wrong but he played almost perfect against Scott.

This is not so.

Players choose their pocket based on their personal preference and/or how the table is playing.

I think he just meant they may have made that rule for this match. I don't believe they did.

Just in case anyone missed it, after the match last night Dennis asked Tony to play more -- for a $1000 a game! Tony declined. I guess that Dennis wasn't used to the table until he was down 8-1. They interviewed Dennis' backer after the match and some of these things came up.

Aint no winner until it is over.

lol, you'd need to be Sean Spicer to parse his original statement and arrive at that conclusion.

Here's what he said.

Might even be a 'rule' that mandates such.

As I recall, DO was down the first day of the Scott Frost match also. He made some adjustments and we all know the outcome of that....
I believe you will see a different match from here out.
Dennis will play better :)

Is the winner playing Alex?

Lol. Dennis just beat Alex 3 times in the last 2 weeks, I wish more of you Alex worshipers would bet on him playing Dennis. I'll take Dennis, Tony, and Shane playing Alex.

Alex got his revenge on me yesterday by beating the 15 ball ghost twice. I really just wanted to see it

Where did Dennis beat Alex?

Unless it was long races of one pocket for big $, it don't matter.

He's much more aggressive with kicks and caroms in and around the rack, by in large he got better rolls when his "plan" went astray....in addition Dennis didn't punish him because of poor play so Tony kept firing away

Someone, somewhere said he was playing with a new cue and that's why he played so poorly...perhaps he'll screw his old pole back together

Lmao. It sure mattered in the prize money to them. Guess that dont count though:rolleyes: I made 1k off of those wins that didnt matter too.

The new cue that he used to win tournaments just days ago? With all due respect that's a lame excuse.

familiar

Yeah, but I'm sure that Dennis' ego was bruised a little, so he decided to make a side-challenge to Tony. Understandable I guess...

Kinda reminds me of the old story where Django was playing the Scorpion 9-Ball for $5000, (I think it was race to 13 per set, best 2 out of 3 sets).....If I remember correctly, Django won the first set.....the Scorpion broke to start the second set, and ran 13 racks to win the second set (13-0!)......and before they started the 3rd and deciding set, Django asked Scorpion if he wanted to play for double the stakes, Scorpion said no, and Django ended up winning the match. Psychological games are effective sometimes; sometimes when somebody is playing in the Finals of a tournament, he'll ask the opponent if he wants to chop the 1st and 2nd place combined money (split), imagine the opponent instead making a proposal to play for the whole thing instead of splitting ...

I hate to even make the post but it has to be discussed. Dennis is missing lots of shots. Just missed a cut that was within a diamond of pocket.

Is the cue change having an impact or is he just struggling a bit?
