I picked this up from Brandon Shuffs Comments on FB and thought that it warranted wider discussion


Brandon Shuff POOL WORLD = TOO MANY CHIEFS NOT ENOUGH INDIANS

Jason Christopher Hunt pool is like this... there are Chiefs...and they rob their indians. but the indians are so pathetic...that they say.."well....if the Chiefs werent robbing us...wed have nothing." so they dont speak the truth about what goes on. what needs to happen Brandon Shuff is people like us need to get together in each city....and start a revolution..and prove venues and tournaments can be held right...poolrooms can uphold the safety of action and whistle blowers will speak up to protect the people who are wronged. then...people will feel safe...nobody will be mad really...and sponsors will come. but as long as the faces that have been ****ing pool up for the last 20 years...are still ****ing it up...we are doomed. really look at what this says....youll see its 100% on point. its time for a coup homie.. and for the young to replace the old.. and dont be scared of retaliation.... in the end...they will be obsolete..

Doug E Gordon Jason - you added nothing to this discussion. Who are you referring to in this diatribe. You are New York based. Tony Robles, Fran Crimi, John Leyman, Mike Zuglan. Are these the faces that are ****ing things up. Going further afield - the marvellous Mark Griffin, Gregg Sullivan. Even further afield - how about Matchroom Sport has the last 20 years of their efforts been in vain. In Europe - the Euro Tour and the GB 9 Ball Tour are major success stories. Germany has it's Bundesliga and the good work of Johan Ruysink has broken new frontiers in player education. The WPA have created events in many parts of the World with the value of the prize fund exceeding $4million. There are warring factions in the Philippines but Yen Makabenta has brought that much into the game while their rivals BMPAP have created and supported most of the big name Pinoy players. Although he is not universally popular, nobody can take away the portfolio of major events that come under Charlie Williams and Cindy Lee's Dragon banner. There are major advances in the sport in China and Taiwan and fortunes are being revived in Japan thanks to the initiatives of the charming Mr Tu. There are others and I apologise if I left anybody significant out. But that is my list of benefactors to the game.

I bet they can't wait to deal with you...... and Brandon I am still waiting to hear you qualify your remark 'World of Pool = Too many Chiefs not enough Indians'. What or Who do you mean

Guessing you are not familiar with Hunt?

Meet the Kenny Powers of the pool world. A broker and sadder version but its an apt comparison. There is tremendous comedy value in his rants. Don't make the mistake of actually thinking they are written by a sane individual based on things like reason. Just accept them for what they are and laugh your ass off with the rest of us.

The dude comes up with some of the funniest lines in the world. He talks shit about me all the time and I used to get mad then I realized the comedy value was way worth it. Someone needs to start a Hunt quote thread. It would have the double benefit of documenting some of the nutty shit he says and give fuel to the fire. Within a couple days of said thread going up Hunt would write a 2000 word facebook manifesto on why he should be in the BCA Hall Of FAme because someone started a thread about him on AZ.

Don't pay any attention to what the dude says. Just enjoy the way he says it.

I know what you mean Justin... I have Jayson on my facebook and see all of his rants, it takes everything that is in me sometimes to not tell him what I think but then I am scared he will erase me and I won't be able to have my daily laugh.
 
I always thought the saying went "too many chiefs and not enough braves". Chiefs are Indians too. Well leave it to the feeble minds of the pool world to screw up even a good quote. I can only imagine what a wet dream would look like.

Well, in a sense, Doug's point backs up Brandon's.

He named like 20 different "chiefs" of pool, all putting up good events, but technically competitors whose interests occasionally conflict.

Imagine one or two big tours in america, with plenty of stops, consistent rules and standardized equipment... governed by one body, run by a handful of savvy chiefs. Another in europe, another in asia.
 
Creedo It is not impossible, just unlikely. what makes it that way is how weak a link the USA is despite the fact they have very strong organisations - BCA, APA, VNEA etc. You guys should be leaders not bedraggled followers.

As a card carrying Native American I can only speak for myself....we need more Indians and more Chiefs.....small pox, booze and the government have decimated our numbers ever since the Plymouth rock landing.

In my opinion Brandon's comment is about the PLAYERS and not the promoters! Examples:

1: Players never protected one another and 10 years later Danny Harriman is still not paid from a pool tournament! Us Open not paid! Tony Anngioni issue!
2: Players were involved in the Challenge of Champions match fixing scandal
3: Players were involved in the Don Mackey debacle giving too much power to ONE person.
4: Players were involved in manipulating Seeding.
5: Players were involved in manipulating Rankings via numerous methods.
6: Players were involved in the demise of the IPT
7: Players do not show up early and help promoters!
8: Players never show up and help Big Truck or Insidepool commentate and help get the sport more attention and some attention for themselves and the products that sponsored them. DCC should have never had ME commentating with champions all around!
9: Players are currently bickering with this new Bonus Ball venture and of all the players there at DCC not one Bonus Ball match, Bonus Ball Patch, or Bonus Ball anything from the players! Bigtruck would have let the guys play BonusBall on the 10 foot table! He had to beg to get action on his Stream!!! I did see Johnny Archer with his Bonus Ball jacket trying to do something positive! Doug, the players are the problem!!!

So I have always wondered about the label "Native American". Wouldn't you just be a native and why isn't everyone else designated as an "Alien American" if we are going to append American to all ethnicities?

No one has ever called me a White American, or a European American which I think would be technically correct in that format. Yet we have African Americans, Latin Americans, Asian Americans. I don't get it.

Too many labels not enough love.
