masonh said:i also agree with Don sometimes you get a better deal going straight to the cuemaker, but Bamacue's prices are just as cheap or sometimes cheaper than the dealer.he does not care if he only makes $50 on a cue.he will just sell it to sell it.usually dealers get the cue about 25% cheaper than we do from the cuemaker,so they have room for negotiation and they can also mark it up or mark it down on their website.
Bro' I don't know where people get these ideas from. Maybe we get 25, maybe we get 20, maybe we get 30 percent off. The point is we have a discount threshold that we need to maintain. I just can't say well I got it for 25% off, let me sell it for 20% off. I need to protect my cuemakers secondary market and the value of his cues overall. Any cuedealer not doing this is doing no one any favors.
Used cues, if you get into them right then you can do what you want. But even with those we like to protect the cuemaker as much as we can. If I get into a Richard Black Bushka for 500.00 and sell it for 600 I do damage to Black's reputation, I won't do this to any cuemaker, no matter if I like them or not. I will be more flexible, but don't expect me to drop my drawers.
Consignment cues that I don't own, I leave it to the consignee. If he wants to take a loss, so be it. But we advise against it.
