Unknown to me cue, thought Mottey

Cue is unsigned. I am waiting to see what Mottey has to say about it. I am going to sell it anyway, but if it turns out not to be a Mottey I dont feel like going through trying to figure it out. I would ask the original owner but he is no longer with us. If you would like to make an offer on the cue, let me know. Cue has 48 ivory inlays and 3 shafts. Non ivory ferrules and both right at 13mm. Cue is in excellent shape.

When I first saw the cue I thought Scruggs, but I know you would have known if it was a Scruggs. The ring work above the joint is unique.

kbooks had a Mottey that was identical to this in the rear. Forearm just different. I am waiting for Mottey to get back from DCC.(I guess he is there)
 
I like that you allow people to make offers but isn't it a bit premature? I mean, if it's a Mottey, which I don't think it is, but if it is, the price would be worlds different than if it was some local maker that got fancy one day.

It is never premature to take an offer on a cue. I have not hidden anything about this cue. All I said is if someone wanted to make an offer on the cue I would consider it. Apparently none of the 10 people that have contacted me about the cue think I was premature and dont think any less of what I did.
 
I thought Schon or Bob Runde

The cue has a fimilairity to me. Just guessing. Points seem a little short for a Motter veneer cue.

Nope, not one of Bill's. Maybe if you show the ends of the shafts without the caps it will narrow it down a little.

Dont know yet. Will find out tonight. I will try to get some pics of the shafts collars. Dont know how good they will be but will do the best I can. If it is not a Mottey, and like I said I dont know, all I can say is it is very well made. I thought it was becasue of the cue that kbooks had. Rear was identical and I had never seen that pattern before. Will post the email once I get it from Paul. Thanks to all.

I think you're taking what I said out of context. I wasn't berating you, all I meant was you're taking offers on a cue that could end up being much much more or much much less than what is offered. You should protect yourself first. Say someone offers you 2 grand for it and you take it only to find out it is in fact a Mottey that is worth about 5. That's all I mean by premature....early to take offers. I'd find out for sure what you have first.

Sorry if it seemed I was upset with your post. Not my intention. I wasnt upset or irritated at all. It has just driven me crazy not knowing what it is. I still havent heard from Paul yet. Dont know if the rumors of him retiring are true. If so, maybe he hasnt checked his email or something. But anyway, I think I am just going to post it up on Ebay in the morning and see what happens. Need to save my sanity. I am going to try to go get some better pics to post. Was going to do Monday but the chaos of having a 2 year old and a pregnant wife.:) Anyway, thanks for all the input everyone, to anyone who bids on it, good luck.
