Received a call from Tim Dennis concerning the table order for the new tour. Was told that there was going to be some restructuring and the order is on hold. I asked for an email that I could post explaining the new direction for the tour in his words rather than mine. I will post the email as soon as I get it.
No need for me to say more at this time. I need to gather my thoughts and efforts towards something I have some sort of control. The Derby City Classic! The truth be known, I'm not sure how much control I actually have, the DCC seems to be getting a life of it's own. ha! Greg/Diamond

Greg,

After all the research and valuable input we recieved from multiple
people in Las Vegas. We feel that we need to take a little more time to
evaluate, and restructure the tour. As we have stated many times we want
the input and frankly, greatly appreciate all the input. With everything
involved with the magnitude of the project we have undertaken we feel
that we need to take this extra time to make sure we do everything
correctly. After we decided to do this we felt that placing that order
for the tables right now would be pre-mature.

Hope your holidays were great, and I hope the Derby City Classic is
another awesome event for you.

Tim Dennis

I received another email from someone wondering if I should be posting the NCAPBA's business on the net so I think I should tell everyone that I got their approval before I ever posted on AZ.....Greg

Thanks for the update Greg. Not what everyone (including you I am sure) wanted to hear. Guess we will continue to do the only thing we can. Wait and see.

Hope we hear good news come out of all this, but I am sure you are covering your interests, Greg. Good luck with this.

Russ

Lets be optimistic and hope that they are just dotting their i's and crossing their t's before putting anything in stone. A sign of any good businessman is having PATIENCE.;) imo

Thanks for the update Greg

Peace

It is a shame that a good man like Greg is having his time wasted by these people. But I am sure in business Greg is used to it.

Let's see, if I was ready to kick off a 22 million dollar business and made it public knowledge, I would be the most organized person on the planet. Never the less, if I was going to start up a 22 million dollar business, I can honestly say it would have nothing to do with pool.

Greg, if you check my post history you'll see I've been saying this "order" was bs from the start

essentially you've been giving them free publicity, publicity from a reputable person within the industry, something they desperately need since pretty much nobody has heard of these twits

these guys are bad news for you, remember the IPT, they at least got something off the ground and made an effort, these fools are pranksters at best and con artists at worst

I suspect they have opened the doors of communication with you by planting the seed, this is how these things work, be very carefull

sorry, don't mean to preach or tell you how to run your business, I just don't want to see your company get shafted, I have lots of experience dealing with people like this

Don't worry. Greg ain't no dummy and neither is Mark his partner. I've known Greg forever and he is the nicest easy going "pool hustler" you'll ever meet. He doesn't miss a thing or a "trick". He could give these guys the five and the break. :)

this is my last post on these twits

EVERYTHING they have done/said thus far pretty much contradicts how one would go about starting a legitimate business

I have my suspicions regarding how they will profit of the unsuspecting masses but at this point conjecture does nobody any good

I won't have any sympathy for anyone that gets taken by these fools

It's a shame that in 2008 pro pool is in such a state that we all blindly follow the dangling carrot

Not a shock and I think Pool is better off without these guys. They had no viable plan at all and pool doesn't need another major implode.

Guys- You have to crawl before you can walk especially in this sport. Grandiose plans are almost sure to fail- Start small and build!

Did you lose some money in this deal or what? It sounds like you're taking this thing very personal. Why can't we all just sit back and wait? The way it sounds, they are still developing the tour. Be patient, if it doesn't end up working out then it's not a big deal. But negativity is never the way to look at opportunities like this. There's nothing to lose so just give it time.

The way it actually "sounds" is like someone playing a practical joke on the pool world.

A horrible web site, recently registered, and looks like it was made by a 11 year old. A 22 million dollar tour, but this Tim Dennis guy is just the representative for "Those Who Shall Not Be Named", and a huge order with Diamond that mysteriously gets "put on hold" before a dollar in down payment is put down.

I was trying to be positive before, but it is looking more and more like a practical joke by some sociopath pool player who knows how to register a domain name, and set up a rudimentary web site.

I am SO hoping that is not what it is, because if this turns out to be a practical joke, very bad things could happen, and I don't want anyone getting in trouble over this. But 22 million dollars is such an over the top amount, and there is no proven demand for pool in America, I can't see it as anything but a practical joke.

I certainly hope you're wrong.

Russ I pray your wrong, but dude....I think your probably right.

Awesome avatar, Greg. You can thank the late great Bill "Breakup" Johnston for that photo and the others. Happy New Year and thanks for the updates.

"huge order"

This "huge order" they are hesitating to pull the trigger on translates to about 0.5% of what they are supposed to put in escrow according to my cyphering. Of course I also read the fine print and they aren't actually planning to put 22 million in escrow as reported but each event's purse before the event is held.

Regardless, if these people have to agonize over putting a deposit on 36 tables I think it safe to say that they don't have even a tiny fraction of the funding they claim actually available to them now.

I'm curious to see if they start trying to collect membership dues/other monies or put a deposit on the tables first but I think the handwriting is already on the wall.

Russ, I notice that you are a critic of the NACPBA website itself and believe it is very rudimentary, and therefore it must be a ruse. Do you base this criticism on experience as a web developer? If so, please elaborate on your experience designing and building websites. I am in too many years in IT with little experience in Website desgn and development. I just like to know the technical credentials of someone criticizing technical work before I take it for gospel. Kind of like when a 11 year old says "Dad, I think you need a new engine in your car, this one sounds like it is about to die." And the dad replies "Yeah son, ain't that a sweet cam?"
