Why do I have to be the VERY LAST house on his delivery route??? I'm eagerly awaiting a shipment of a new cue case and I have league tonight and I wanted to take the new case with me. Well, I'm starting to see that as usual, it'll be after 6:30p.m. before the UPS guy gets to my house and I'll already be gone. Darn it!!!

haha, sorry for laughing, but I'm guessing you already have everything pulled out of your old case and ready to go in the new one too??? What can BROWN do for you? Make you late for league.... :sorry:

Psst....here's a secret. NDA the shipment next time and pay the extra fee :). And UPS does kind of suck depending on your location and driver.

If you are close to the UPS facility you can request a hold for pickup.

This solution would depend on where you live relative to a UPS distribution center (ask the driver). I live less than 10 miles of one. If I'm anxious for a package or it's something of value that requires a signature, I sometimes have it mailed to the distribution center's customer counter in my name with the memo "Hold for customer pick-up".

The nice thing about this is that the day of delivery your package is there first thing in the morning because the DC is where your package goes in order to get put on the truck that would be coming to your house that day. If it is going to be delivered that day it is at the DC in the morning when they load the trucks. It sits there at the customer counter until you come get it. For me it beats being stuck at home all day waiting to sign for my package until the driver finally shows up. I can pick it up at my leisure, including first thing in the morning if I'm in a hurry to get it.

Essentially the label would read:

Mr. Maniac
c/o UPS Customer Counter
Street address of the distribution center
City, State, Zip of the DC
"Hold for Customer Pick-Up"
your phone number

Obviously, you need to confirm with the shipper to make sure they are shipping UPS because naturally the customer counter will not accept a package shipped any other means besides UPS.

Hope this helps.

I hate UPS with every fabric of my being. I have tried long and hard to think of a single redeeming feature of the company to justify their existence, and cannot find one.

I'm sure some people may live in an area that happens to be well served by UPS, with competent employees. But, aside from my own experiences I've heard far too many expensive horror stories from business acquaintances using UPS. No matter how helpful a good employee may be, part of the problem is some of their company policies are totally ridiculous to begin with (which inevitably lead to problems).

If your biggest problem with them is getting your shipments later in the day due to being at the end of your route, believe me you are doing well ;)

We've all been in your situation and it sucks. UPS men here are phenominally better than the uSps men here. I was checking the mail every day for two weeks just to get magic racks and a measles ball, to have them never show...

FedEx delivers too you know!

Ups

UPS rocks. I live in the sticks and if I have a package sent to me via FEDX it will be dropped off at our local PO where it will sit for a few days. The UPS guy usually signs for our stuff himself and leaves it in our sunroom for our cat to guard.

Most time my UPS come between 10:00 AM or 2:00 PM EST. Wife work for ACNielsen . But I noticed when item are ship, by sender, late in the day [after 4pm] expect item between 4 to 7 Pm.

If you got Ups tracking - note the time item drop off for shipping, that be the time you should received it. Also if you live closer to UPS then chance it will be later in the day for delivery.

LOL Always seems like I'm always last on the list too. The UPS and Fedex centers are within five miles of me. I can see three or four UPS and Fedex trucks a day go by the house. Yet always late in the afternoon is when I get a delivery. I much prefer USPS. I'm going to use the pick it up yourself option for Fedex going forward.

I have more problems with FEDEX than any other shipper.

Unbelievably, I have better luck with teh local USPS than anything!

I ship all my stuff USPS. I could bore you forever with the reasons. Right now I'm sweating a USPS delivery of my new old Palmer 20. I think I'll go look out front AGAIN.

PS Despite extensive lobbying of the Watermelon Festival Queen, it seems I have lost my appeal and you are the current holder of the Sunland/Tujunga Heavyweight Championship Belt. Prepare to defend!

I open all challengers as long as they live in Sunland and are named kevin!!

ps - I did have to promise the Watermelon Festival Queen some pretty nasty things to get the crown back though.

:sorry:

On the flip side, I'm HOPING I'm last on my driver's route so I can snag my new Canon T2i DSLR tonight after work. Otherwise it will get rejected on "signature required" & I'll have to wait for him to get back to the barn so I can pick it up there.

Speaking of USPS, I will post a pic of a package I received yesterday that will make you think twice about them.

I must be last on my UPS delivery route also. Every time I have something coming from UPS they are so late getting to my house that I give up thinking i'll have to wait another day. Fedex for me if possible.......

Everyone has a horror story for USPS, UPS, or FedEx. But the question is, do many more horror stories happen with one carrier than another? And how do they resolve problems when they do happen?

From my perspective, based on personal experience AND what I've seen happen to others, I rank them as:

1) Best - Post Office
2) If I absolutely must use another carrier - FedEx
3) Hate them every fiber of my being - UPS

Sure, other people have had worse experiences with one carrier than another. But from reading many different threads about shipping nightmares on AZ and elsewhere over the years, I get the feeling that my ranking above matches many other's opinions as well, in totally different cities. So that points to poor policy and management from the top down.
