US Open (9 ball) 2024, August 19-24, Atlantic City

... And the qualifiers for the European open are cheaper than the us open ones. I think it was something 30-40 euros versus 120-150 dollars. All in all still some kinks to iron out.
As I recall, entry to the Opens in Europe is $250. so the qualifiers ought to be cheaper.

There was supposed to be a qualifier in Finland this weekend, but it seems like only 2 players signed up

With this pace it doesn’t look like Matchroom will get 128 qualified players for either the European Open or the US Open, to join the 128 wnt pros.

What will they do then? Open up for anyone to register, or fill it with a lot of invited players?

Wolf's Den Billiards had their qualifier. It was advertised as 32 player minimum, with 2 qualifying. $100 entry. 24 showed up. 3 qualified (according to Shane's FB post). This is a really nice room in Virginia that Shane Wolford's family owns. The 3 qualifiers were also the top 3 fargo rates. A large range of skills entered.

I have two (2) spectator tickets for the final day, in case anyone was looking for a couple.

Is it still enforced?
If you play in the open, you must stay at Harrah's?

Correct me if I am wrong here, but........

Years ago if you had the entry fee and a cue you could play in the US Open? Right?

Barry Behrman told me once about 20 years ago on the phone that if I had the $500 entry fee and a cue I could play. Then he said that if I had the $500 entry fee he would find me a cue.

In years past yes, The last few years was $750 and you had to register months beforehand.

I played in a US Open qualifier in Philly a couple weekends ago. It was very well run, and a good experience for me. 28 players came out. Originally, it was going to be 2 qualifiers per 32 players, based on MR's quota. A couple weeks before the event, MR changed their policy and the promoter can send as many players as he/she wants. So this promotor had enough money from the entry fees to send 4 players, plus also pay a bit of cash to the top few players. $170 entry, with $20 of that going to admin/Green fees.

The field was mostly 500's from what I recall. If you are a 600 player, you are probably 50/50 to get a spot, in any qualifier in the country, IMO.

Here is the bracket:

I played Jeremey Seaman on the stream table for the first round, and had a good time. The other player that beat me was Trenton Marty. He's in his late 70's, and is probably going to be the oldest player in the Open. Both of them got a qualifier spot, along with 2 others.

A week after the event, the promoter made a FB post that he has a few "promoter spots" to anyone that played in his qualifier. If we contact him and ask, he can give us the spot to enter the US Open. It will be completely paid out of our own pockets.

Is there a list of players signed up for this US Open 9-Ball?
I couldn't find one. I expect it to be announced at the time of the draw which should be in a day or three.

It looks like all the qualifiers have already happened.

Not anymore. They are treating like any us open by other sports . You have to win a qualifier of get invited by matchroom. A friend who has played in quite a few pro events finished high in some qualifiers and match room sent him an email inviting him and paid his entry fee. They don’t want people in pro events anymore that can’t put 3 balls together but have the entry fee so they could play.

There is no US open 9 ball tournament anymore.....
There's a matchroom 9 ball open held in the US that's titled US open but really its just an abomination.
Why? What is open for a professional sport just allows anyone to show up and play without proving they are qualified? Not golf. Not tennis. … you all want pro pool to be taken seriously well this is part of it. You can’t have someone playing in a pro tournament Simply because they have deep pockets. They have to earn it. I’m looking forward to them making people earn a tour card just like golf to play. Going to the expo and watching a pro tournament where the early rounds have guys that need a 3 ball spot to get out is rediculous and beneath the pro game.

Roy has posted on FB that he got in through one of the Salotto "Golden Tickets" that was given out to players who played matches registered with Salotto. He got $750 entry paid and $1000 in travel money. Nice going, Roy.

Wonder how many are left. any idea/info?
I couldn't find anything on the website and they haven't sent out a press release. I assume they have emailed players who have entered qualifiers. They seem to no longer announce the entry list prior to the draw.
