Video evidence that Cyclop is garbage

Agreed with Royce. Chinese does not mean poor quality, other than any other country's name always means good quality.

China is a massive power in the cycling products manufacturing world, one where product liability is a huge concern and trek, specialized, giant...you name the label...isn't going to sell a bike that could cause injury or dealt as a result of poor quality.

The actual mytholgical giant with one eye was called a "Cyclops". There was a race of them, and they were called "Cyclopese" (the plural of Cyclops).

I always thought the name Cyclop sounded off, and am I wrong in assuming this is a Chinese misinterpretation of the English pronunciation of Cylops?

or was there another reason for leaving ths "S" off the end?

Cyclop balls

Lyn,

Just to show my sense of humor, I'll recognize your post as probably more pertinent than most of the illogical 'garbage' that some of the others are posting.

Do people really go through life with this skewed thinking process. You know, the 'it's made in China so it will always have QC problems' or maybe just assuming that we are so friggin' STUPID that we intentionally put out flawed balls because 'we don't care' or some other stupid shit.

This thread has been educational to me. It has shown that there are a few narrow minded, illogical, individuals that are just unable to believe they might be wrong, or that seeing one instance of a flaw means that this problem is prevalent.

This thread has also shown me that I am going to ignore many of them. I will always be willing to debate facts. I am no longer willing to argue or discuss things with people who don't know the facts and just repeat what they think - and when shown differently, that just refuse to comprehend they might be wrong. Don't worry, I have had to admit I was wrong a few times. The difference is I actually think about what I say before I go 'public' - and evidently my self check system must work out better for me than it does for several of the posters in this thread.

And you do realize, it is only about the same 6 people or so who are constantly stirring the pot. Maybe it would be better if they ignore me and I will ignore them.

And of course, just to make things abundantly clear, mark Griffin and CSI are not going away. We will keep doing what we have been doing. We will continue to improve the world of pool. And while you sit out there in your easy chair and take free potshots at what we do, we are in the real world working 60 hour weeks and putting up real money to make real things happen.

You always have the option of doing SOMETHING yourself. Like maybe actually contribute a little bit. But - I must be the lucky one. I am involved in doing something I really enjoy. I have been blessed with the real possibility of maybe getting another 10 years of life. I have this ability to have a good positive attitude, even when things get dicey, I can still see the humor in conflict-and I can see the path through the 'garbage'.

But if you think I am going to feel sorry for narrow minded, petty people and thoughts, you are wrong. Actually, this is telling me that I should concentrate on the things I can do and change. And - a few of you have proven that you are not on the list! Sorrrrryyy.

So - with that rant behind us. Mark Griffin is going to take a shower and I am going to the NASCAR race in Phoenix. I want everyone to know that I am feeling pretty good. And getting better everyday. My focus is changing and I'm hoping to have a real cool announcement in a couple of months that WILL CHANGE POOL for the better for everybody. That will be my work goal for the next few years. And it will become very evident who is for the industry and who is for themselves. And if you pay attention, you might see and learn something. You might even want to get involved.

And for those detractors that just don't want to use the equipment that we use. Just don't play. You have become irrelevant and you have become a distraction to the advancement of the game. Just accept that change happens. It is out of my control and out of your control.

See ya later-

If you actually got through this post, you deserve a medal- or maybe I'll send you one of our specially ordered lopsided out of round, raised eyeball Cyclop cue balls. According to some , we must have boxes of them! (For those that need help, this was my attempt at humor)!

Thx for sending us the balls. I'll check Monday to see if we got them.

If the ball is flawed you will get everything replaced at no cost. All I want is to see the problem. Hours is the only object ball problem I have heard of.

I'll keep u posted

Probably be Tues/Wed, sent them USPS cheap as possible. Sorry this thread got out of hand, I actually appreciate all the hard work you guys do for the game and I want to see the equipment improve for sure.

My last post on this thread, take care of yourself and heal Mark.

I'm determined to see the day the necessary changes are made to do the game justice

CJ

So have you ever played with them? You didn't really clarify that.

Is it just the colors? You do know that they also offer a traditional color set as well, don't you? Will you boycott those as well?

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe some of those "other top pros" may have another agenda?

I really think all this is just ridiculous. CSI has done more to promote Pro Pool than just about any other organization or person. They stand behind everything they do. Are you familiar with Qlympics? I don't recall seeing you there? CSI took a shot at something new. It was a great idea. A huge all 9' table event. Very few players showed up. Even though it was very expensive to put on, CSI payed all promised pro prize funds. I don't know of any other promoter who could have done that much less would have. Do you remember the event several years ago in Arizona? You know, the one where the top 12 or so players got stiffed by the promoter? It wasn't a CSI or Mark Griffin event, but Mark Griffin came in and paid off the other promoters debt to the players! I was there when they did it!

I'm sure that there are some problem cyclop balls out there. That doesn't mean that they all have problems. By the posts of many who have them and haven't experienced any problems, I'd have to say that's a pretty safe bet. This is not uncommon in new product development. The right thing to do is to find the cause of the problem, and correct it, and that is what they are doing. It's called customer service, and they're good at it.

As for my questions on your comments. I just thought you might be painting yourself into a corner. If they do work out the problems, and I think they will, then the cyclop balls could flourish. If that happens, you may not have as many choices of pro events to play in.

Royce

Yes, I've played with the Cyclop balls and they do play differently than Centennials. I could get used to them as far as their playing characteristics, however, the colors are something that can't be over-looked. The color of the 6 and 7 ball are confusing, not just to me, to many other players. I've seen several players (including myself) shoot them out of order......I sincerely hope pool promoters use the traditional colors in all their future events.

I'm only talking about the Cyclop balls, not whoever is involved in their production and/or sales. I don't pay attention to the politics in pool and have no interest in it. I'm on this forum to tell the truth about my experiences, suggestions, opinions and "let the chips fall where they may". Taking anything I say personally is silly and immature, my attitude and points remains focused on doing the next right thing for the game, not humor anyone for personal gain or compensation.

The fact is the professional game has been run into the ground by poor business decisions, lack of insight, and insufficient expertise.

There's so much wrong with the way the game is presented now that there's little hope of it improving without a complete overhaul.....the old attitudes must die, so new ideas can be born - virtually every change I've seen in the last few years have been detrimental to the integrity of the game, it's fans (what few are left) and the professional players (100% of this post is about professional pool, not amateur or leagues, they are doing fine).

It saddens me to see what's happened to the game that has done so much for myself and numerous friends/associates - I'm determined to see the day the necessary changes are made to bring the game into the public spotlight in a way that's entertaining, strategic, and rewarding for it's professionals.....this is impossible the way the game's been presented in the last 15 years. imho

I fixed that for you CJ to move it from the wishbone category to the backbone variety.

That sounds a lot like evolution.

I'm an absolute believer in evolution.

It's not an easy thing though. It truly is a battle of the fittest. Only the strong survive.

Actions speak louder than words.

Royce

By the way, my intentions are also only meant for the good of the pool world. So, taking offense from them would be silly, of course.

Touche' - we're just playing the role of two sides of the same coin.

By the way, Darwin was a "strange bird". He married his cousin and didn't come out of his house for the last 30 years of his life....guess he was "evolving". LoL

Well, I wouldn't say that we're playing the same role at all.

My goal is growing my business. We do that with technologically, quality, and customer service.

You're goal, according to your claims, is to fix pro pool.

They may be related, but they are entirely different things.

I actually said "we're playing the role of two sides of the same coin" - that means one of us is heads and other is tails......I'll call heads for the purpose of the analogy. This certainly indicates differences, although you didn't quote me correctly on that either, nowhere did I say anything about "fixing" pro pool.

In the other post I said "There's so much wrong with the way the game is presented now that there's little hope of it improving without a complete overhaul.....the old attitudes must die, so new ideas can be born," this doesn't say I'm attempting to "fix" pool, read it again, it's quite the contrary.

My goals go far beyond anything I've ever indicated on this public forum. The wheels are turning, if it's meant to be it will happen, if not I'll simply play another type of "game".

Well CJ, I think it's really about how it appears. I felt that it was misleading. Even with that, I still don't think we're on the same coin at all, regardless of sides.

As for fixing pro pool, it certainly wasn't meant as a direct quote from you. But based on your other posts, I wouldn't know any other way to take it. I copied this actual text from post 191 in this thread to show what I'm talking about.

If that's what you got, that's what you get. ;)

Again, there's no "fixing" pro pool, it's beyond broken, the top 10 American pros are averaging less than minimum wage annually, that's about as low a bottom as possible. imho

It's okay to agree to disagree....no harm, no foul.

I use analogies to make certain points, they're not intended to be translated literally.

OK. So what part of this:

"There's so much wrong with the way the game is presented now that there's little hope of it improving without a complete overhaul.....the old attitudes must die, so new ideas can be born - virtually every change I've seen in the last few years have been detrimental to the integrity of the game, it's fans (what few are left) and the professional players (100% of this post is about professional pool, not amateur or leagues, they are doing fine). is an anology and should not be taken literally?

And again I say stop talking and start doing. And by the way, that is not an anology and was meant to be taken literally.
