* * WANTED: SHOWMAN Cue. * *

You are really suggesting going to someones place of work and extorting a product out of them? Why? Because someone is too impatient to wait and work with the person?

Unbelievable.......

Scott <<== guesses "business" is done differently in Greece

So...from all these you understood this? oh well....and did i say extortion? I just said and meant that if you visit the cue maker, either you will find something lying around and might be to your liking or through a nice chat (and nice deposit) to start right over the procedure of a new cue....it is very simple...what you didn't get? But to pay for a spot (that it is over 90% taken by a dealer) it is OUTRAGEOUS.

Good LUCK

WOW! What cha SMOKIN? You won't find a cue layin around Dennis Searings or Johns shop for sale and if either make one for you when your time comes IT WILL BE EXACTLY AS YOU ORDER IT! This is why people want their cues they are PERFECT in every way. I met John 2 months ago at CBC East I bet mine is almost finished eh? Wow, Ron

I talked to John today, he's hard at it making cues and trying to get caught up. I'll be 60 when I get mine, lol.

Yeah, I'm not very bright. We can't all be as well informed and great communicators as you.

Actually, I only addressed the part of your post dealing with getting a Showman cue (which is the intent of this thread). Nowhere did you say anything about a "nice chat" or "nice deposit". I read what you wrote, not what you had in mind but didn't say. That's written communications.

Paul already addressed whether John, or any other in-demand cue maker, has cues just lying around waiting for kgeorgia to drive up and buy. They don't.

I ignored the rest of your cuemaker bashing and innuendos about poor quality. You do this without naming names, which is typical of someone who wants to sound like they are "in the know".

If you want to state your point, name which "TOP" cuemaker built a cue to your friends design in 2 months. But, tell the whole story with all the facts. Unless the blank had been finished for a long time and just needed a few inlays and finish, then NO TOP cuemaker I know will build a cue in 2 months and let it out the door.

You want to bash whether a top cuemaker can build to a customer specs? Show the example. But tell the whole story. Like did the customer have unreasonable specs that the cuemaker does not build to.

Vague statements and "I know, but can't say" accusations don't further the discussion.

Spend few hundreds of bucks (as you intend to spent loads of them for a cue), take the plane, go to the Showman's place and i'm 110% sure that there will be a ready cue for you. This "waiting list" thing is getting very annoying. I know that the TOP cue maker in the world (and you know exactly to whom i'm referring to) has no waiting list and my best friend got his own design in 2 months. As simple as that. And as a side note, for the oldies in here, once a guy posted a cue from a HUGE cuemaker -who has 8-10 years waiting list- and along with cue photos he posted the order slip. Nothing on his order matched the final outcome, with serious deviations (sth like 0.50-0.75ox difference). And i'm asking: is it worth to wait so long, give enormous amounts of money and get something different of what you had planned to?

Its fun spouting completely untrue bullshit on the internet isn't it?

Stupid

I love it when people talk out of their Ass like this. I can assure you that John Showman does not have any cues laying around waiting for a high roller to roll up and pay him for a new cue he just have sitting there.

How about this. Let me pay you a 20% comission if you can fly down there and buy me one that is laying around for 6K or 7K. PM me when ever you want to get paid.

While you are down that way, you might as well stop by Searing shop and pick another one up for me and get paid for that too.

I bet your talking about Dale Perry yep I bet he has a nice selection for you!

Well -

I have a Hoppe Showman that was supposed to be finished in March of this year.

I paid a 25% deposit 5 1/2 years ago and was told I would have wait 5 years.

About 2 years ago, I tried to talk to John about building a second cue (before I had even got my first  cue). Needless to say, it seemed impossible for me to order a second cue, and it is not ordered.

The price that I was originally was quoted seems to have moved as well. I am not sure that is even legal or in my mind, if it is ethical.

I have commissioned 50 or so cues built for me, from lots of different cuemakers, so it isnt my first rodeo.

I am used to cuemakers missing dates and other issues, but damn.

Proceed with caution my friends.

I know John clearly states that the cue will be priced at todays standard no matter when you ordered a cue.
Besides who would tell him that they didn't want to go ahead with their order.

Yeah I think that Showman is super clear about the fact that his cues price will be determined when it is built.

I do know this. Ask Searing who he would have build him a cue if it wasn't going to be himself and the name Showman is coming up quick.

Ask Ernie Gutierrez (who almost NEVER even looks at other makers stuff) and he likes Showman.
