It seems to me that your problems with DP isn't really problems, but things where you have different opinions. Neither of the 4 reasons you mentioned below should qualify red rep. I believe that is what the thread starter were asking about.
Still, I have to agree with you that I would prefer the races to be atleast 9 in the semi and final too. However, I do understand how ESPN feel about it, and if they are paying to show those 3 matches I can understand if they demand races that they know works for their audience.
The pricemoney are listed on their website, and everyone knew about it before they registered for the event. If Alex P. is surprised that he "only" got 5k for 3rd, then he hasn't done his homework.
For others who won't care to figure out what the added money are:
1st - 20,000
2nd - 10,000
3rd - 5,000
5th - 3,000
9th - 2,000
17th - 1,050
+ 1,000 and 500 for top 2 female players.
Total pricemoney = $ 87,350
Entryfee $ 700 = $ 78,400
Added to pricefund = $ 8,950
I disagree with you about letting Charlie Williams not play. I am having no problems with that.
Charlie's "room key" episodes are about as bad as T Rex's 61 pounds of drugs, imo. I've only met him a couple of times and he seemed like an arrogant ***** both times.
He was taking money at the door at the UPA tournament in Athens a few years back and I didn't have any cash as I left home without it. I told him I would just add it to my tab but he wanted to deny me entry to the pool room because I didn't have $15 in cash. I told him that I was about to run up at least a $500 bar tab and I would flip him a coin for all the money he had in his cash box. Needless to say, papa Murphy came over and told him to let me in.
Everytime I see his new forum name (DP News), It makes me think of Charlie in the hallway of a hotel fumbling around with room keys in hopes of having a 3 some with some skanky couple, lol.
The first time it happened, I screamed and kicked him out of my room and called a friend on the same floor. I went to CW the next day and told him I was NOT interested. I was just there to work and watch pool.If I was running an event and you said you were gonna run $500 on the bar, I'd probably not want you in there either. Put some cash in your wallet and find an ATM for pete's sake. 61 pounds of drugs and a drunk or sober attempt to enter a female's room are nowhere near the same IMHO. If he'd have raped her, then yeah, worse, but otherwise, just general stupidity. Also, Marissa, ever hear of hotel security? They'd have had him arrested for sure.
I think they're taking $100 out of every $700 entry fee for a registration fee. That extra $11,200 would make the added money look like $20,000 now. I'm not saying that's right, just what I think happened. It is a steep entry for a 20K added event.

When he tried to enter my room the next night (I used the swinging bolt on the door this time), I reported it to the hotel front desk who re-keyed my room, and to Frank Alvarez. Frank had me send CW a text saying if it happened again, I would go to Cindy Lee and the authorities. CW had me meet him outside to pay me the rest of my earnings. I thought that Frank and the UPA were looking out for me. In hindsight, I believe I was mistaken.
At first, I thought it was my fault and that I had said something to make him do what he did. It took awhile to be able to tell myself that it wasn't anything I said or did, and after hearing other similar accounts, I know I was just one victim.
I just wish the other ladies he has assaulted could come forward without fear of retribution. I will not out anyone, though.

Thanks.
Then they could claim that the entry-fee was only $ 100 and that $ 600 went to registration fee.
That way they could say that it is a $ 60,000 added event...
Imo, the added money is what is added on top of the entryfees, and that's less than $ 9,000

I really wish someone can clarify this. The first time it happened, I screamed and kicked him out of my room and called a friend on the same floor. I went to CW the next day and told him I was NOT interested. I was just there to work and watch pool.

There comes a point where you need to deal with this situation and move forward with your life. ...
I am sure she has dealt with it. The only reason she said anything now was as a courtesey to the Board.
I think the majority of girls have dealt with similar situations multiple times by the time the reach early adulthood. They know what we are.
Your lady sure is lucky to have you. You're a good man, Black-Balled!![]()
Sheeeeeit! She might say I am an ass.
I'm not mad at Frank and I like him like a brother. However, in Vegas last year when I was raffling for Predator, Charlie had me escorted from the tournament room. He approached me later and said I would be allowed to watch the matches if I stopped bad-mouthing him and Dragon Promotions. I told him that what he did to me was wrong, and he just scoffed and walked away. I told Frank about this and requested to sit down with him, Karim, and Charlie to talk about it, and my requests were repeatedly brushed off. I just feel like they're looking out for Charlie and don't want to hear about what happened.Marissa
You and I are friends, but we will have to agree to disagree on that statement. Frank was as helpful as he could be under those circumstances. Insinuating otherwise isn't fair. Insinuating that the UPA "weren't looking out for you" is unfair as well. Many people were unaware that this had happened, with the exception of a few people that you had spoken too. The UPA is not the poice department. You know that.
I know you are upset with Charlie, but please don't insinuate that Frank was not doing his best to help you out at the time, because he was. That is just how Frank is. If you had gone to Tony Robles, Cindy Lee, or James West, they would have also done their very best to make sure that the situation was handled properly, and that you were taken care of. You know that too.
Like I said in my earlier post, it is unfair to paint the UPA and the entire DP staff with one brush because of your incident with Charlie. If you would say that about Frank Alvarez, what would stop you from saying that about me or Thorsten? That's where I am coming from, I hope you understand that. Please understand that Thorsten, Frank, and myself have walked a fine line with this issue. All of us have still remained friends with you and have been supportive despite this incident - and none of us have chosen sides.
I don't know what happened between you and Charlie in your hotel room in May of 2005. Only you and Charlie know what happened. As a friend, I will always be there to help you - especially if you're in the right. But... I will also be there to let you know when you're wrong. That's friendship too. Saying nobody was looking out for you is way off base.
There comes a point where you need to deal with this situation and move forward with your life. Either pursue this through the proper channels in an attempt to bring an end result - or deal with it emotionally to put it to rest. Doing otherwise turns this incident into a billy club that you can take out and beat Charlie over the head with when ever you feel like it. That makes you come off as more vindictive than victimized. I know you better than that, but some people here don't know you better than that.
Bottom line, people were there for you when this happened - especially Frank Alvarez. By reporting this to the UPA instead of the police, a few of us got trapped in the middle trying to make sense of a situation that occurred between two people that we care about. What did you expect for people to do? Should we have just hung him by his balls over Table 17 and got it over with that day - or was the responsibility on you to take the proper action? Don't fault Frank (or anybody else) for that decision.
