What makes the Filipinos SO STRONG!

Some of your post is simply silly. Some is wild ravings. I don't have a clue what you are talking about. Without a translator I'll just assume your posts are chemically enhanced. I genuinely can't make sense out of what you are saying. Some of what you are saying in your posts makes it plain that you can't comprehend what I am saying either or can't sort out who you are replying to so it seems we are both wasting time.

Are those violins I hear, why yes they are, I heard them a few pages back I just wasnt done listening. Let me go grab some cheese and I'll be finished. Ahh there we are, done.

At DCC you can in fact see pros matching up all the time. I vividly remember watching Corey Duel and Scott Frost matched up in one hole for $200 a game.

Frost is one of the best action players in the whole USA. That guy has alot of heart and fire to play.

the people who do live on the edge financially to entertain you.

Pfft, you cannot be serious. The people who play pool for a living do so because the lifestyle is allows is vastly superior to the 8-6 50 hours a week lifestyle that comes with a real job. They are doing it for themselves, and there is nothing at all wrong with that, but lets be honest about it.

My intention for this thread is NOT to dog the US pro players but instead to inspire them to get in the box a little more than they have been.

On this intent I hope you succeed, I really do. I might come off harsh on the above post I made but my own hopes are quite similar, to perhaps fire up the US players and get them to realize that they are atm their own worst enemies and are hurting their own sport that supports them by being so tight and not allowing the sport to be the interesting gambling game that it was born to be. ATM poker continues to soar by embracing it`s image of gambling, casinos, high profile characters, ect... and this sport which shares alot of simularities in the USA is doing it`s best to take out all of that color that is needed to market this sport and increase it`s popularity.

So, does anyone know what type of charm those Filipinos use? I am going all in for an authentic Filipino Charm that works. Getting tired of getting beat.

A simple truth - American pool players learn how to use low english very effectively. Most American players are experts at controlling the cue ball hitting low on the ball. Works particularly well for 9-Ball. Now watch the filipino players. They use high english just as effectively. They can go forward just as well (if not better) as backward.

Bottom line - We do not follow the ball as well as the filipino players. You don't believe me, just watch sometime. They learned this playing Rotation, where drawing the ball is not always an option. The only American player I ever saw who followed his ball as well as the top filipino's (like Parica, Efren and Dennis) was Earl.

Why is this important? Because you can play more accurate position following the ball. Don't believe me, then ask some experts, see what they say.

I agree. I think this is, at least in part, to their backgrounds in billiards, a game in which most shots are played with follow and with english.

no violins

No violins, just an acceptance of life. To paraphrase a great modern day stand-up philosopher, "I can't fix stupid". I'm unwilling to continue trying to discuss the original matter when there is a huge gaping void somewhere between what I write and what you reply.

I think the insinuation that our top players won't match up with Filipino's may be a bit misleading. I think the better question is why don't our top players match up even with ANY of the other top players - Filipino or otherwise? I know that some will but, for the most part, players just don't match up like they used to. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with money. If you don't know when your next paycheck is coming, it makes it tough to get up and bet the money you do have on a dead even game. Everyone is trying to get some sort of an advantage and, given the financial state of pool, I can't entirely blame them.

As far as the Americans not playing unless they're getting staked, I don't see many top players, regardless of their ethnic background or citizenship, playing on their own dime. I'm not saying there aren't any, but the ones who do bet their own are in the minority. Again, I have to think this goes back to the financial state of pool and its players.

it's a cycle

It's a cycle, or perhaps better put, a downward spiral. When the economy is strong people have money free to gamble with, backers and players. When money is tight, gambling money is used for other things and all action slows to a crawl. When you are staying in action you are more willing to take chances. When action is hard to find it can take a long time to recover from a good sized loss and people are more careful with their stake.

When times are good, gambling feeds on itself in an upwards spiral. When times are bad we see this downward spiral. People are spending their gambling money on bills and other foolishness.

- Ronnie had his teeth pulled out (to channel Efren).
- Efren doesn't take a bath during tournament.

I guess I could have my bridge removed and a couple of caps. If Easy Money tells me his game improved because of that, I will schedule an appointment to do the same. I believe in channeling too but only with females. :canoodle:

But SERIOUSLY, not taking a bath is just a superstition as well as the channeling to Efren. I need a real physical charm to increase my level of play.

I may have a better record than Bata for not taking a bath. In 1970, I once went 14 straight days without taking a shower or bath. I really didn't notice any BO and no one dared to complain. Maybe it's just in our genes.

Joey,

Have you tried one of those new fangled shafts that eliminate all your bad shots..you know the latest technology!! or maybe that really old growth prehistoric wood shaft. While they all may be nice, There are as the old saying goes, people that can beat others with a broomstick.

As far as charms go, I've always been partial to blondes :)

Ah there, that's one big difference if not the biggest! The Pinoys do bet their money taking all bets or as part of the stake. This not only applies to the better-off players but moreso for the least financially capable ones. They will bet everything in their pockets to even include their cues just to get into a match. They usually can depend on other players and stakehorses here to help them out either through a straight out hand-out or just basically offer them food. There are a lot of matches that goes on every single day that winners do help the unfortunate ones. This scenario can only force players to work on improving their games as it in some way gives these lower players confidence to take-on awkward match-ups but these awkward matches pushes them to play hard too. Most of the fortunate players don't forget what they went through before making it to where they're at so they understand what these less fortunate ones and up and comers go through. The cycle goes on day in and day out so the action never dries-up.

A good example of karma and that charity pays off for the players who chose this profession and Philippine Pool as a whole. *So JoeyA theres the Filipino charm you're looking for, CHARITY. The players are what keeps the game alive and progressing. PLAYER POWER!!!

"Stupid" (you hurt my feeling) I'll have you know I worked very hard to get my .075 gpa befor they kicked me out (of the district) in the middle of 10th grade. But because I can be one of those heartless Americans (thats probably why I took "have no heart" so direct), I will just put this matter aside, until the day, when I may be able to use the proper skill set hu

amazing how your language skills come and go

It's amazing how your language skills come and go even before this last BS post. Your threat was noted. No more needs be said.

There was an Efren sighting at Hardtimes and maybe in Santa Monica later today.

Efren, Django, Lee Van, Warren and maybe Luat and Alex are there to represent BMPAP Philippines. Dennis, Ronnie, Gandy and Roberto will not be there.

Just left House of Billiards in Santa Monica. Efren was playing a local named Magdie(?) for $200 a pop, giving him 14-6 on super tight tables. Efren was ahead when I left.

They are so good because when there old enough to go in a pool room there they see a sign on the wall with John Schmit's picture on it saying, "Free plane fare to the US when you get good enough to beat this guy". Johnnyt

Ahhhh, I didn't see this until after I posted the note about Easy Money (R.Alcano).

Lee Van already has it in for me so I know I won't find any charity there. I guess I will have to hope to have some charity put on me by Efren, Django, Warren and maybe Luat and Alex......:banghead:
