What tip do you use?

Tiger, Talisman, and Moori...and you know, I really can't tell much difference between the 3. My wife now shoots with what I thought was going to be my bar cue, a plain jane McDermott that I had a LePro put on...now I'm not allowed to touch the cue. Makes me wonder if she's onto something & I'm crazy for trying different tips.
 
Wizard Medium. I absolutely love them. They haven't mushroomed on me or fallen apart unlike some previous posts.
I play a lot of 9 ball so I like a medium tip. Makes me feel like I can dig into the cue more without a miscue.

what do you mean, strange?? I have played probably 200+ racks on my tip, and so far, it just keeps getting better? I need to get another shaft to put a WB tip on though.

3) It is the best I've tried for holding chalk, hit, spin, etc and it is available for a reasonable price.
 
I just switched to Kamui soft from a morri medium.

Loving the Kamui. 3 months and no difference in the shape of the tip from what it originally was shaped to..

Wow.... I guess I'm the only person using Triumph tips. I personally prefer a 'soft' tip. I used to use Moori 'M' tips but they were getting hard to find, and therefore expensive, so I switched. They don't last as long as a Moori does but for 1/20th of the cost I can deal with it.
 
Medium to Medium hard

Until about 10 years ago I would install a LePro or Triangle myself. Then Talisman gave away some samples and I tried them and used them exclusively for about 10 years, still doing my own install. Tommy T gave me a milk dud (LePro) last winter that I just can't get excited about. Not sure why I don't care for it. It dosen't hold chalk as well as I'd like it to and it is probably harder than what I'm used to. I'm close to cutting it off.

Because you are involved with the other thread I think you understand the reason why I asked the question.

While I completely respect Scott and what he does (I was a house pro at one point and gave lessons) I really think he's wrong in this instance.

Stating that every tip is the same is complete BS. That like saying that every cue is the same. I've played cues that were made from the same maker, with the same wood, and the same joint, and the same diameter shafts and they played completely different. Why? because they are made out of wood. And because wood is natural every piece is different.

The same argument can almost be made regarding tips. What are tips made out of? Leather right? Well what is leather? It's a cows skin so although the manufacturer can have strict quality control there is no was of getting every one exactly the same.

And considering the original statement, not all tips hold chaulk the same and each one plays a little different. Which is why we all have different opinions on which one is the best. Even at my level I get different amounts of english, draw, and follow with different tips.

Just a guess but I think many of us feel the same way.

i don't know how to say it. when the tip was new it played real crisp and after it was broken in that seemed to go away
 
I use Moori Softs. I can't pocket balls very well so I like to use my stroke to spin the cue ball and show off by going 3 rails to get stop shot shape so it looks like I can play to people that don't really know anything. lol. In all honesty though, I do like them because I can spin and control the cue ball best out of all the tips I've tried and I really like the softest hit and feel I can get and the Moori Softs seem to do the trick in both aspects. If anyone knows a tip that is softer than the Moori Soft, let me know so I can switch to it please. There is nothing too soft in my opinion.

I was using Snipers for a while, but I then tried one of the
Ryan's (Rat cues) Dudley tips, and I love em! You also cant
beat the price! $ 25.00 for 50 of them. My local guy has a
bunch is stock so I dont see him running out very soon.
Med. Hard, and doesnt really mushroom. Just a roughing up
now and then is all that is needed.:thumbup:
 
I like TXsouthpaw's reply. What do the pros use. Strickland, Archer, Schmidt, Duel, Shane, etc. I'm a Wannabe player, who cares what tip I use.
 
i used blue knight and elkmaster for a long time. last year i tried a milk dud and a dudley, both are good tips. now i use sniper tips. it takes a day to get used to them but they play great.
 
I use a Wizard Med on my Olney cue. And put a milk dud (that I made myself out of an Elkmaster) on my Scruggs cue. I like both tips alot. They both hold chalk really well & hold there shape as well.

Don't quote me on these but I believe Schmidt uses the Talisman Medium that comes on the OB shafts. Deuel uses Elk Masters. SVB uses Triangles.

This one you can quote me on...Larry Nevel uses both Moori Softs or Kamaui Softs. Last time I asked it was the Kamaui, but I believe that's on the Diviney for sale here on AZ.
