Talking about food here.

  1. What would you guys like to see on the menu at your pool hall?
  2. What is your favorite bar food?

Discuss! :D

Pizza, it can even be done as take out along with what you sell as people play pool.. Pizza is a stand alone business itself and the two business augment each other perfectly. It can add to the bottom line of a pool room hugely. People come for a pizza and play pool. People have pizza while they play pool and may take one home. Only problem is that pizza is a finger food and it could get on your tables but that is the same with almost anything they eat with their fingers, Chicken wings would be worse.

I can always go for a great pastrami or corned beef sandwich with potato salad and pickles on the side. During winter time a good bowl of chili hits the spot.

A good Chili that is suitable in a bowl, over spaghetti or on a hotdog.

Good Crispy Buffalo Wings

Fried MacNCheese

loaded mashed or baked potatoes

Fresh sandwiches like to see some light food not heavy greasy pizza it seems like every time i go to a pool hall all they have is deep fried stuff with lots of cheese, i don't want to move after i eat.

You forgot, on fresh rye bread. And the bowl of chili of course.

You just cost me a trip to the grocery store deli today.

This is an excellent idea and far from the greazy fare that is usually served.

Potato skins covered in bacon bits and onions, with sour cream and salsa to dip them in.

I also like the idea of a grilled chicken salad for those times when I'm wanting something that is healthier.

My local room has a great cheeseburger platter available with sweet potato fries and it's dynamite.

During the colder months, a decent soup everyday is very welcome.

I'm a sucker for pizza and/or potato skins.

But foods such as soup, chili, salad, mashed potatoes, etc. would be the way to go. Any food that requires utensils.
It keeps the tables from getting greasy fingers all over them.

Ruth McGinnis once said that the worst food to eat while playing was french fries. Regardless of how many times someone wipes thier fingers, the fry grease would still end up on the rails somehow.

I wish they wouldn't sell messy foods at the pool hall.

Guys go in and get hammered and then order something messy to eat and drip it all over the table and floor, especially greasy foods.

All that grease on the equipment can't be a good thing.

Awesome suggestions, thanks guys.

Great idea on stuff that requires utensils, keep them greasy fingers off my new diamond tables lol.

Got a family member that makes the best homemade chili and soup beans I've ever had. I'll give em some money to cook up a few batches a week and keep it in a crock pot up there.

I'd also like to do some sandwiches like a club and philly cheese steak like you'd get at a Jason's Deli.

Cobb salad is great suggestion too, thx. So are potato skins.

I am trying to stay away from the greasy things, and I know pizza is messy and I'll cringe every time someone gets is near the tables, but people love pizza and beer. When we get the fight nights in there I think pizza is almost essential. Maybe a rule to keep pizza at the pub tables / lounge area instead of at the tables would be good.

Anyways thanks again, you guys rock!

Blessed memories !

Lasagna.
Back when Tommy Brown was alive & running Brown's Billiards , once a week Ma Brown would bring in a giant pan of homemade lasagna .
1) giant pan of lasagna = $20 in groceries
2)produced 20 plates tray= 4 pieces wide x 5 pieces long
3)plates retailed @$6.95 (IIRC)

She was always out within 2 hours of bringing it in . . .

and yup, it requires utensils !

Pizza, wings and burgers are 3 of the best staples anywhere.

The hall where I used to play before it closed bought a 3 tier pizza warmer.
They had a deal with a local pizza place to deliver fresh pies. When they ran out, they just ordered more. Fresh pie within a 1/2 hr.

Kinda saves you from making your own and buying a pizza oven or having to deal with frozen pizza, which in many cases is gross.

I've often thought that if you wanted to get the local lunch time crowd in the door, that home cooking is one of the best ways.
And the easiest way to do that is the soups, chili and fresh sammys.
