Well, I didn't really have to think about it, but yes. It means unaware.
So you said "thinking homosexuality is a negative is unaware". Is that what you meant? It sounds odd to me. I think there are plenty of people that have very studied reasons for thinking homosexuality is a negative. (I am not one of them, I have no issue with homosexuality). Likewise there are people that think so that are just assholes. I'm not so sure ignorance is the culprit.
However, if you are saying that "thinking homosexuality is a negative implies some sort of lack of awareness", then ok, Perhaps you are not one of the many people I referenced who incorrectly use the word "ignorant" to mean rude, stupid, offensive.
On a side note, my dad used to say a very funny quote: "The 2 biggest problems with the world are ignorance and apathy. I don't know too much about the first, and I don't really give a shit about the second." I always liked that one lol.
