Who are the top five players in your state?

Arizona - no particular order but Jimmy might be the best right now. I saw him beat Glenn and Scott in the same Tourney.

Jimmy Mendoza
Scott Frost
Mitch Ellerman
Glenn Bond
Doug Hale

I think if you consider big table and all games, Doug does not make the list. (bar box yes)

Considering that Jimmy has a full time job, I would tend to think that he would agree that Scott has the edge overall (for all games)

I would tend to think this may be the top 5 overall

Scott Frost
Jimmy Mendoza
Jimmy Jo (He would rather be fishing, but if he decides to show interest in the game....you lose)
Andy Scott (I don't care if he does not play anymore anyone who has beaten the likes of Buddy Hall makes my list)
Chuck Evans

I don't know how Dennis spelled his last name something like Geshke or
Geashke. Nicknamed TEX. Played Johnson City and hung out at Stardust and Gatsby's in the mid 70's and 80's in Carbondale IL. He should be on any state list if still around and playing. Was buddies with Bill Mechum now in CO Springs who should be on the CO list. They'd go head to head I think Tex got the better of it in the end. Sure would like to know where Tex lives these days.

I saw him in 96 at the PCA event at CJ's first place. He was working for the airlines/married and trapping people on the 5x10. Disappeared since then, DA BABE also knew of him.

Scaredy-Cat Walden ran 12 racks on 8 ball in a row?

Yeesh. I hope he gets over his fear of gambling.
JoeyA New Orleans
Uhhh, this is not what I would call a "scaredy-cat"

Do you have any first hand accounts of him backing down?

Reno, those are his drinking buddies who's names he wanted to see in print, LOL. The first list was pretty close, leaving off, in my opinion, Mike Bandy.

Hemi, Let's not forget Tom Spencer.

Rafael Martinez is the best 9 ball player for sure.
I am surprised to see you have Billy Palmer ahead of Amar in 9ball and
ahead of Tony in 1 pocket. I was impressed with George Michaels game
in a few tournaments that I saw him play in.
I think it would be a good matchup between north and south. Better one
pocket players for sure up there.
George Michaels used to be a product of Illinois back in the 80's and he won many a tournament. Fine player. Philw

Chuck Evans has played in Phoenix for 40+ years. He lives to play. And he has been A and THE "Mailman" for years - my friend too. Jimmy Mendoza will always play well - he has some heart. imho

2/ Johl Younger- Multiple Aust. 9 Ball Champ 3rd Rnd twice IPT

3/ Ben Nunan- Multiple Aust. 8 Ball Champ

4/ John Wims- Long term player

5/ David Reljic or Colin Colenso (even though he lives in China)

We have a lot of great players in Colorado, I'd have to add Nick Smith and Ruben Silva to that list too. Not to mention the girls. Melissa Little and Megan Minerich

I moved from Denver only 9 years ago and things have really changed there.

You must of been way out...
Mike isn't playing anymore, Johnny lives in Atlanta, and Little T can't beat anyone right now, Earl lives in FL.;)

So who would be our best 5 now?

North Dakota?

Remember we only have 680,000 people, so asking who is best in ND is a little like asking who is best in the western suburbs of Chicago or who is best in the bottom half of Sacramento.

Rory Hendrickson
Marc Oelslager
Craig Stainbrook

then it's not so clear

Mike Chewakin if he gets the rust out
Jeff LaFountain
Kenny Azure

???

Considering UK is as big of some U.S states i'll do UK

1.Imran Majid
2.Daryl Peach
3.Raj Hundel
4.Mark Gray
5.Karl Boyz

But i'll be topping the list in a few years;)

Hard to say really...
NC
BJ Ussery
Allison Fisher
Kelly Fisher
Derek Leonard
Eddie Little
Robert Ray
Brian Capps
Jeff Abernathy
Adam Pendley
Shane McGill
Scott Lewis
Chris Brady
Sparky Ferrule
Mike Fuller
Sam Monday
The above are in no particular order...I guess Tony Watson could be added to the list depending on his level of medication. He's playing horrible currently. If he could get his act together he'd be as good as anyone.

Varney Cues,
How would you rate Scott Lewis compared to the rest of your list?

I think that the top 4 would be: (1) Tony Watson, (2) Spark Ferrule, (3) BJ Ussery, (4) Norris Brady
