Who else has slipped while stretched out to reach

a shot-where you really should get out the bridge.

And put themselves painfully out of commission for a few minutes? How many times?

I have. I'll admit to about 4 times.

Then, there's the big center-table break-where you ding your knuckles pretty good on the rail. Me, probably 5 times.

Or on the break, tear your front pants pocket and wreck your thumb in the process.. This one-me, only 2.

Maybe it's only me. That definitely could be.

Oh yeah. I've even scattered the table when I slipped. I've also caught the edge of my pocket on the lip of chrome on a Valley bar box when going around the table and came to an abrupt stop a few times. The worst is in summer time when I'm wearing flip flops and the floor might be a little sticky and the toe of the flop catches and gives you a massive toe wedgie.

One of the better tips I've gotten was from Buddy Hall which was to learn to shoot with your opposite hand proficiently so you don't have to use a bridge near as much.

I don't ever recall slipping while reaching, but I do remember slipping while breaking the balls in 9-ball once. I managed to nail my chest on the table and took me about 10 minutes to regain my breath and composure.

Playing on the bar box I've nailed my head on the light numerous times and not to mention I've also torn a pocket or two on a Valley.

Ive seen a friend reaching out for a shot and slipping. Well needless to say he slipped and crushed his boys on the table. Terrible thing but it was funny as hell!

I've done it. Now I have a pair of shoes in my closet that do not get to go to the pool room anymore.

flipetty-flaps ?

hear about all these boys slipping - guess they weren't wearing their pool shoes!
(that thread doesn't seem so silly anymore , huh?)

Since we're being honest, my boneheaded move involved raking the balls to rack them on a table in the middle of a game that I wasn't playing. :o

LOL... to my credit it was during a tournament and you had to wear dress shoes. I was wearing these $20.00 cheesy dress shoes with a wooden sole and playing on hardwood flooring, not a good combination.

One night this summer 9 ball season the bar didn’t turn the a/c on early enough. The floor (tile) was like a skating rink, one of my teammates slipped and hit the floor and he wasn’t even stretched out. They made sure the room was ready after that.

I have done it. I hit it perfectly considering I never practised. I just stepped on line, slipped foot back and bam! potted two balls in the corner pocket... no CTE or other aiming system required. It was totally done by feel and I was really feeling it.

When I was much younger sometimes while in stroke I'd play at near speed pool pace. I once threw my knee up at the corner and it slipped. Because I'm tall my boys smashed into the metal corner and ended that run. Seen it happen to others too....amazing how much a persons facial color changes.

Maybe 9-10 years ago I slipped when reaching for the shot on snooker table exactly at the moment of shot...and ripped some muscle strings in the back of my thigh. Took me several months to fully recover!

had my pool shoes on

i was playn in a dive bar, I was streched out and the floor tiles gave, i slamed my face. the funny part was a sign on the wall that read play at your own risk!

I know a good idea when I read one!

I have slipped and almost busted my face. Luckily my ninjaskills saved me.

why you got to ask.........lol

I used to play in those birkenstock style slippers....i don't know how many times I've almost bit the dust stretching on smooth floors....

but the worst was when I was matched up in college.....I was jumping the ball and I miscued and the tip rickoched off the ball it seemed and the shaft swings fast as hell and smacks me right in the dam nose/mouth...

all my buddies laughed their butts off, all i could do was laugh just the same.

thanks for bringing back memories lol,

What a Coincedence

Playing straight pool Friday night on a GC II at Jack n Jills in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Had the 8 ball as a breaker on the side of the rack with the CB center table. Came through the shot fairly hard and sliced my knuckle open on the Brunswick nameplate. In 31 years of playing never seen that one before. The damned thing wouldn't stop bleeding for over an hour. No bandaids in-house. McGyvered some TP and masking tape into a homemade bandaid and kept right on playing for 6 more hours. Missed the breakshot, by the way. DOH!
