Will Accu-Stats be streaming the World Championships?

Just found the answer to my question,

alternatively, is there going to be ANY streaming/dvd's? If not, that's rather sad. In this day and age there really is no excuse for an absence of coverage.

Inside Pool Magazine will be streaming the events .

Fans are encouraged to watch the event live in this never to be forgotten straight pool experience. But if you cannot, don't fret as Inside Pool will have extensive coverage with brackets, updated match scores, and LIVE STREAMING ! Starting August 30th fans can view marquee matches online at

That's great, at least there will be a stream for all that can't make it or make it the whole time...

What does this mean to us that like to rewatch the footage, do they plan to make DVDs of it as well ???

Archiving it or making DVDs available would be the smart idea.

Steve:

I'm not sure if this is an answer to your question, but InsidePoolMag has a channel on YouTube where they offer archives of previously-recorded live stream matches. Some are free; some are $0.99 "rental" (i.e. pay-per-view); and a couple premiere matches are $2.99 "rental."

http://youtube.com/user/InsidePOOLmag#p/u (Look at the sidebar to the right -- these are the uploaded matches.)

I'm hoping that InsidePoolMag will offer these type of archives of the World 14.1 Championships!

I get an error message when I go to their website and click on live streaming.

Hopefully they will get that ironed out.

On the one hand it's great there will be some livestreaming but I'm a bit dissapointed by this news. I love listening to Danny Diliberto and other Straight Pool experts doing commentary.

I guess ultimately I'm primarily dissapointed that A. there will likely not be any DVD's (had become a christmas tradition) and B. Their rentals are not available to anyone in Canada. Which means I have one chance to watch it or I never get to see it and I'm a fairly busy guy during the day so I probably will not see any of it.

I'd gladly pay the $1 if they'd open up the pay per view service. It's ridiculous.

Yes this is really sad. For one thing, this is happening right in AccuStats backyard. Pat and his equipment are just a hop skip away from the event.
The quality of previous straight pool events on AccuStats have been superb. Even the Invitationals that Pat had in 2008 was tremendous. I have every DVD from that event.
But the big thing is Diliberto. This year he is being awarded at long last a seat in the Hall Of Fame. He certainly deserves it not only as a player but as an educator of pocket pool, specifically in 14.1. In his 76th year he would be sorely missed as a commentator to the game. He is irreplaceable. From being able to talk about how the game was played to how its presently done by a new breed of players is invaluable.
Pat and Danny, now two hall of famers, will be missed and for me the one flaw in this World Class event.

Streaming at 14.1

Reading the title shows exactly what is wrong with the way this event is being promoted.

It is NOT a world championship!!!

It is great to have straight pool events. But this is misleading.

Yobagua is mixing up the BCA hall of fame inducted with Dragons HOF.

Wonder how many ores are confused.

That is why DP needs to be very careful of what they call events. This is just confusing the public - but CW really pushed the envelop on this area.

That is too bad. There is no reason to mis name things to try and confuse people. CW does some good things - but he is hurting the credibility of the sport by having everything a 'world' event.

I aint the one "mixed up"

With all respect, you are wrong here Mr Griffin. I dont have the BCA HOF confused with Dragon Promotions Event. I simply referred to CWs tournament as a "World Class event". I dont think there is an argument about that. Being that it is a 14.1 tournament I believe Danny Diliberto is on the top tier as far as being a commentator and analysis man for the stream. And the fact that it is happening in New Jersey the home state of Accu-Stats, it is strange to me that Pat Fleming was not doing the filming of the event. I still maintain that the Accu-Stats is the best in the business.
Just like without Accu-stats and DD at the Derby it would disappoint.
This is my main issue. If you want to do a World Class event you need world class people. Am I wrong in suggesting that Danny and Pat should be a part of it?
Your conflict with CW and how he promotes is entirely another issue.

Some wires got crossed here I think. Mark is talking about Danny being inducted into the BCA Hall Of Fame as I'm sure you are but Charlie and whoever else decided to start their own 14.1 HOF and I think that is where things are crossed up.

I agree with you that Accu-Stats is the best, that Pat's coverage of 14.1 takes it to another level and will be missed. I suspect the reason for it is simply dollars and cents. You get what you pay for and the best should cost more. Looks like Charlie for whatever reason couldn't or wouldn't pay the freight.

As for DP's predilection to call anything and everything a Galactic Championship....it does get a bit annoying.

Hope all is well with you my friend and that we'll see you at the US Open One Pocket.

I have been watching your downloads of the 2011 US Open one pocket tournaments on You Tube. Your preserving of those matches are one of the best we have in the annals of one pocket history. I just keep watching them over and over. We really have to thank guys like you for doing this because it is out of a love and respect for the game and the craft. Just as Pat Fleming has done for years.
We really arent worthy. We almost dont deserve it. I thank you from the bottom of my being for giving this to us free of charge. And just as thankful for being able to call you a friend.

Confused

I misread yobagua's post (see above).

I thought he was referring to pat and Danny (where Danny was being inducted into BCA Hall of Fame).

Instead he was referring to pat and Danny being involved and providing the best video and commentary at the 14.1 that DP is doing.

My apologies - sorry for mis reading your post.
We all agree that accu-stats is the best - and Danny is the right guy for straight pool commentary.

As far as the title of this thread, my post stands. It is misleading because this is NOT a world championship!

What are the requirements for a "World Championship"? Who has the authority to declare one?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The IOC recognizes the WCBS as the world governing body of all cue sports. The WCBS recognizes its member for pool, the WPA, as the world governing body for pool. The WPA specifies the requirements for championships it recognizes. The main problem for the current event is that it does not meet the added-money requirement set by the WPA for a world championship, which I think is $75,000.

I couldn't care less what it's SUPPOSED to be called. I titled it as I did since I wanted to clarify the event I was speaking of. Please don't turn this into an anti-DP thread. Especially since as far as I'm concerned, it's thread over and closed. I have the answer I wanted.

I agree the buck stops here.......enjoy all of the great 14.1 this week.........................i know i will...................
