World Cup Of Pool

The USA just squeaked by Malta 8-7! Do you believe it? Malta!
This is not a good sign. I don't think they will make the finals this year.

I like Rodney and Corey, but if I got to pick two US players this year, I would have chosen SVB and Schmitty. They're young, they're deadly and they're HUNGRY!

It's not like the guys from Malta can't play. Tonly Drago is a world class player. I don't know the other guy but I am sure he can play too.

As far as Corey and Rodney as a team - they ran out four racks to win from a 7-4 deficit. If that isn't a super high caliber performance under pressure then I don't know what is.

SVB and John Schmidt would have made a great team as well!

The only question

roaming around in my mind about Rodney and Corey as a team, was not their ability, but their rythm as a doubles team. Rodney and Earl were good as a team, and their rythm of play seemed fluid, but I wondered whether Corey's more analytical approach and deliberate play might not throw Rodney off his rythm.

Functioning as a team is not the same as playing singles.

Go Singapore!! =X

Why isn't anyone mentioning the Taiwanese? They play a killer game of pool too you know...

By the way, anyone knows where I can catch the live stream?

The Usa did well to come back in the match so wouldnt be two worried how there performing. The other maltese player Alex Borg is a very decent snooker player so im sure he can play a bit when it comes to a 9ball table ;)

Definately agree SVB and Schmidt would have made a great team.

The Swiss/USA match isn't going well either...7-6 swiss breaking!

EDIT: It's over...Swiss win 8-6.

My team won ! I'm sincerly sorry for you. But I got to say that's the Swiss team is really great. Both are very talentuous. Marco plays with Oliver Ortmann in Germany. He learn a lot with him. He was 9ball european runner-up last year. Dimitri is a little genious, he was the youngest Eurotour winner when he was 17 yo.

After that poor performance against Malta, this is no surprise. I like Corey and Rodney, but for several reasons they were not the best choices for the USA this year. No one asked me anyway. :)

I would have picked SVB and Schmidt. I guess I already said that earlier.

I think they should change the bracket format similar to football(soccer), 4-6 teams in each bracket playing round-robin, top 2 finishers move to the next round. They might need a bigger venue though.

Maybe Corey was still having thoughts of being slaughterd by SVB earlier this month.

Malta isn't bad team.

Tony Drago is world class, and Alex Borg is snookerplayer. If snookerplayers gets a chance to pocket a ball, they will, no matter distance or angle.

I am not surprised that USA lost for Switzerland. Switzerland has a very good team, maybe not well known in the states, but they are capable of going all the way. (Now, as Jay would say: You heard it here first)

9/1 underdog Belgium is giving a good account of themselves as their match
against Taiwan is all knotted up at 6 games apiece! It's down to a race to 2!
