World Straight Pool Updates from New Jersey

He was pissed he was set to play at 1:00 and then finds out a few minutes before 11:00 he now is playing at 11:00. I would be pissed too. At their level, you need to get mentally prepared as well.

Seeing that this is a World Championship, I would think any change to the schedule and someone would CALL the participant right away. Apparently Dragon does not agree and you need to fend for yourself. BS.

I see. I don't believe anything I read implied that the 1pm time was rescheduled to 11. I certainly would understand that.

while I am very happy with the win (36 and out!) it's important to note that johnny played easily the worst match of his career. He gave me lots of chances and that just shouldn't happen with a player of his caliber... So I'm well aware of how lucky I just got...

Btw he's super nice.

I have met him twice and he was super nice both times I met him.

Great playing Steve "Patterns" and way to take advantage of his mistakes and go on for the win.

He is super nice as I've spoken to him a few times at events and he's always been gracious and helpful. Of course, he probably likes having players like me in the field!

The matches kind of even out since you played a terrible match against him earlier. It's too bad though. Everyone would like to see you two go at it when you're both playing well. Rarely happens though.

Good luck next match!

By the way, Mika beat Schmidt a while ago 150 to 70.

Schmidt plays Hopkins at 10:00 pm.

Damn, I wish we had videos of these matches!

Stream or taped.

I think DP is missing a great $$ opportunity here.

As someone who has personally funded the last 2 world straight pool championships and has intimate knowledge of it's finances, I'd have to respectfully disagree that DP is missing $$ oportunities with video recording these matches.

It is true, however, that these events have been poorly promoted and more importantly POORLY MERCHANDISED, but that's another story for another day. I don't know how many more of these annual str8 pool WC's we'll see, but because there is no financial growth within the event, I can't forsee many more. Enjoy it whileit lasts.

For the second straight year I supported your event and came away
exhilarated with the play I witnessed !
I never saw a 150 and out before tonight and would not have the memory and fun of telling all pool players of my fortune if you did not fund this
I saw 60 people watching this event tonight with the likes of Milka, Bustamonte, Thorsten, Souquet, Segal, Schmidt, ortmann etc. etc

thank you all

in passing Segal played well against Bernie and per claimed he will win the tournament!
I asked him who not including himself would win his response was no one else can beat me!
Thorsten, Milka never beat me and Efren only beat me once!
I beat him 25 times before that last time!

I talked to people who had brackets up and they said times were not changed!
You know it was 10;50 AM and he was in room why didn't he just go change and play!
He actually signed a autograph for free after his PM match
4 years ago he told me it will cost me 25 bucks!

I think for next year there should be some type of automatic scoring mechanism, so we can follow the scores almost live.

I haven't watched Sigel play since the IPT match against Schmidt, but I don't think anyone should ever doubt Mike Sigel's ability to play great straight pool.

Seems like people want to ***** about Sigel's starting time, or a lack of updates, or other details, but to rip off Fatboy, what have you done for pool today? Most of us, not much, but CW, he does alot. In fact, he does more than just about anybody else in the world. So I think the we ought to step back, and say, Thanks Charlie. And thanks to other people out there who are doing something, like TAR. Thank you.

I could be mistaken but I don't think "NYC cue dude" was the financial backing for this years event? I think he funded it the previous two years. Either way, he deserves much thanks for what he has done. He is one of the only people "with money" that has done anything substantial for pool where the motivation wasn't for popularity or a return on the money.

Lipsky had one of his better performances, losing 150-2. Chavez played very well - better than all other players in the 10:00 round combined LOL. (I had nothing better to do but watch the other matches).

Well - I found a way to be miserable after an otherwise good tournament. And there it is.
