World Ten Ball updates

Charlie lives in the bay area of Texas and while he and his family thank God are doing well...they have had Hurricane Ike to deal with.

Go Shane! Great article on the front page today. He is playing brilliantly and it is nice to see that again. One of the most lovely strokes in pool! GO SHANE :)

I wonder if it has anything to do with the tough gambling that he has been doing with the Filipinos just prior to the tournament?

Wouldn't be the first time, or the last. .

I'll still match you rack for rack and see who gives up the most balls on the break. I know a few tricks myself, and I don't have to dent the cloth.

Now that I read the ablove posts, I want to learn about this template. I'm not too old to learn. I guess the idea of tapping dents into the cloth doesn't sit well with me. I haven't forgot the Sardo thing.

Hey come on Jay, we were talking about racking, not making slug/trick racks here. It's like arguing who's the strongest guy and then decide it by 10pin bowling ;) My offer still stands for the racking part. We can even put it on TAR if they find an accurate enough camera to see the gaps as well :)

I was doubtful with the dents as well when I first heard the idea but now watching, playing and refereeing matches on tapped tables for several years I think the pros easily outweight the cons on this matter.

Interesting fact so far:

Archer, Hohmann, Engert, Gabica, Gabe Owen, Kuo Po Cheng, Stepanov OUT
Imran Majid def Raj Hundal 9-8, r we gonna hear more rap?
Alwi Dodong will face Luis Condo, the one sent him to the loser side

If there's anything more, pls add

Jasmin Ouschan

Just saw the match between Jasmin and Thomas Engert. She wasn't only impressive and good looking, but interviewed well after the match. Good ambassador for the sport.

About 8 months ago Archer taught me how to tap in balls, I been around pool along time and had tapped balls for years to get tight racks BUT I didt know what he showed me, and it is a fact the balls lean on each other(for lack of a better description) and the balls rack better. At the M-Cup in Vegas they racked them like that in the player room too. You were there Jay, on the square you do get better racks like this and the "dents" dont interfer with play much-I will say if you playing one pocket they might matter in the stack, thats the one time they could be a problem. I am glad Johnny showed me how he taps balls for good racks. I still use a triangle but my table is tapped good,

back to the tournment, I wish I could have been there, I know alot of people there and it would have been fun, I think SBV is gonna do real good, Cory has been strong too recently so America has a chance. I also am routing for Ernesto D.

West Coast US Reps

Jay,

What's up with our West Coast US players (Oscar D., Ernesto D. (Mexico), Louis U., and Max E.)? It looks to me like Ernesto, representing Mexico, is the only one to advance to the 64 board. Ernesto certainly does have the most experience in international competition (probably more that the other 3 combined).

I am a little surprised, especially with Max, as they have all been playing so well lately. It was Louis first trip to Asia (I think) and maybe Oscar's 2nd - so, I can understand them perhaps not making the adjustment with the time change.

Any insight?

Is it just me that feels something's amiss? It's seems that this tournament lacks some luster that the top Filipino players brings. I really hope that this tournament will succeed and hope they'll deliver on the prize money they've promised and pay everybody on time. Competition means more tournaments not just for the Filipino players, but for the rest of the world as well, it's about time the top pool players earn some decent money.

As long as Raya/BSCP does this on a consistent basis LEGALLY and FAIRLY and for EVERYBODY, I'm sure the players will be just fine with this kind of set-up. Same goes for the BMPAP as well, these two groups can compliment each other by NOT doing tournaments that coincide with the other group's schedule.

Louie told me it was his first trip (i think) I'm not sure what day he arrived but I think he arrived when Archer did-late Sunday nite, which is bad planning, Jay told me Johnny was jet lagged and not happy the first nite, he was up 5-3 and lost 9-5, then he had to play Max which sucks because the USA lost a player there automatically. Johnny beat Max, Jay said before they played that Max looked good and had a real good chance to win. I dont know about anyone else-I spoke jay 2 times in the past 2 days.

Shane did it the right way-he went over earily and got in action everyday, he perpaired the right way, considering what the payday is anyone not going over earily is just bad planning. Why anyone who is a contender in that tournment should go over earily, thats the best use of time, action and getting rid of the jet lag puts you in a spot to win, getting there 12 hours before your first match is suicide, who can fade that????

Jasmin will have to play Demosthenes next and he won't be impressed with good looks or fancy words (as his name infers) and she will have beat him like a Macedonian warrior. :smash:
