You know you are addicted to pool when...

When you go to the jewelry store to pick out earrings that would look good when you cut off the posts and epoxy them to your joint caps.

Addicted!

1) when you should be working and instead your posting here.
2) when you play for 12 hours in a tournament, come home and watch DVR matches of pros.
3) you show up at the pool hall on your anniversary.....by yourself.
4) whenever you go out of town anywhere, you find all the pool halls in the area.
5) You have a drink named after you at the poolhall.
6) when your wife sends you to the store for milk you come home with chalk on your hand.

1) When you name your dog something Billiard related (my dog was Snooker).
2) When you play Pool all night gambling, and only have time for a shower before work - 3 nights in a row .... no sleep
3) When you play over 31 hours straight in a $50 cut throat game (3 players - losers pay $50 a game).
4) When you tell your first wife (who happens to be built like a Playboy bunny, 36D-23-35) to wear her low cut tight red top, and leather mini-skirt with no panties when she goes to watch you gamble. (hey, it's an edge, believe me ... lol)
5) When your young and crazy, and played 76 hours straight, only taking 1 hour breaks every 24 hours.
6) When you dream about Pool and table layouts.
7) When you suddenly wake up at night, knowing the answer to that shot.
8) When you doodle table layouts and shots at work.
9) When your only fantasies have to contain a good looking woman Pool player.
10) When you spend all your other time on billiard related forums.

I could go on and on ... LOL

So beautiful :)

You're addicted to pool if -

You watch an episode of "The Rifleman" and act shocked that Buddy Hall does not appear even once.

You rent the movie Earthquake expecting a biographical piece on Keith Macready.

You put money in a soda machine, select Orange Crush, and act surprised when a five ball doesn't come out of the machine.

if you're in college: you go up to your Resident Advisor and tell him damn good and straight "there's only one RA and you're not him"..... then walk away digusted when he doesn't know what you're talking about

It is 4:29 in the morning and you are going to go play pool. What is the most amount of practice you have put in in one day? Just curious, maybe some of you won't make me feel so insane about this game we play.

lol 36 hours but who is counting

...When you and your wife make your wish list on what your new house should be and she says at least four bedrooms and you say, one room at least 15x21..;)

...When your pool slang invades your language. like for example:
Sees a pretty girl" Wow she gives the last 4 to the whole room"
Just had a business deal go down badly" "Thats a bad roll"
"Those Christmas cookies are the NUTS"
Staff at my office look at me weird all the time when I talk to them.

...When you decide its time to cut your hair mainly because it keeps getting in your eyes when your shooting.

...When you discover that one pocket matches on accustats, particularly those with Grady's soothing voice, are very good at putting you under after you have seen them 5 or 6 times.

. . . and I was doing so good!

Dang! I was actually able to say "not me" to most of the things in this thread, well except most of the practice hours, then you nail me squarely with the accu-stat one pocket DVD's. One sits in my computer in my bedroom just for when I can't sleep. Nothing like the click of pool balls and quiet commentary to let me relax and doze off.

I walked into a restaurant with my cue case in hand one day, I didn't realize that I had it till the hostess pointed it out. It just seemed natural in my grasp so I didn't even think about it.

Also I picture angles and kick shots in my head whenever I look at things. Like if you look at a window and there is a couple of spots on it, I figure out 2, 3 and 4 rail angles to hit the other spot.

I'm not well.

my wife named her Shiitzu's "Kisses and Caroms", after she watched the movie, which was given to me as being a pool shooting movie, don't waste your time it sucks.

…… your poop looks like a rack of 9-ball.

LMAO, i think that might need to be told to your proctologist

when it's xmas and you're calling around seeing if any poolhall is open within 20 miles so you can play...
ho ho ho - my bad.....

When the first thing you do when you turn on your TV (I have Dish Network) is do a search to see what billiard programming is coming on over the next 24 hours. When you know it's really bad is when you set your alarm for 3 or 4 in the morning so that you can see the match!

Mercy !....#4 fits me to a "T".........before I go anywhere, I check yellowpages.com for pool halls near where I'm going,,,,,,,then I check the ICA to see if any of my fellow members live along the way, so I can visit,,,,damn, I'm addicted...

one night when I closed my poolroom down at midnight, three of rode 40 miles to another town and played til 8 a.m. and then rode back home.

years ago my buddies and I woke up this guy who had a beer joint/poolroom
at 6 a.m. on a Saturday (we'd been out all night) & he opened up, sold us a six-pack each and told us to lock the door when we left,,,,it didn't seem silly or strange at the time,,,I'd shoot someone who did that to me now...LOL :p

You know you are addicted to pool when..

I posted this in a similar thread several months ago

> This is how hooked I am on this glorious sport. On Sunday,February 8,1998,I wanted to go play in a 500 added tournament SO bad I actually thought about quitting my job with no notice to do so,they would not have let me call in sick. I get a phone call to just come home, don't call or anything, just come home. The manager that took the call knew what was up,but just told me to go home. I come through the S curve right before my house, and see smoke rolling out of the house, and fire trucks all over the place. I look up the street and see my mom and both sisters running towards me,my dad wasn't home from work yet. The words I formed in my head at first were Oh My...but the next word was drowned out by "don't worry your cues are all right". My sister Dawn, who by being late for work was home to discover the fire, call 911 and get my sleeping mom out of the house, comes running up to me in a hysterical fit, which is strange for her because she was an EMT at the time, and tells me she's sorry that she couldn't get to my cues in time. I honestly don't remember a conscious decision to try and run into a burning house after my cues, but I clearly remember getting tackled by 2 firemen after getting all the way up to the front door. I unconsciously TRIED to run into a burning house after them. After the fire was completely out,the captain came up and explained that pretty much everything on that side of the house was destroyed with the exception of the bedroom with the closed door, which was my room. He asked if there were any animals in the house,or anything valuable that wasn't destroyed that we wanted brought out before they let us in ourselves. I told him about my cat Q-Bert,which was asleep on my bed when I left for work just 2 hours ago,and told him that inside the room where he was that there SHOULD be a white golf-bag looking thing,my white leather 3x6 Porper with autographs all over it. To my complete surprise, when he carried my cat out he had my cue case slung across his back. Other than smoke damage to the outside of the case, there was no difference in my cues, even though it got hot enough in that room that 500 cds melted into a basketball sized wad of plastic, and the buttons melted off the stereo. I was able to salvage maybe 10% of everything I owned, but that 10% contained 90% of everything I really cared about or could not replace,of course this pales in comparison to everyone getting out alive. Even after going through a tragedy like this, when I saw that my cues made it,I knew I'd be OK. I was hitting balls in 2 days. That's how hooked I am,Tommy D.

you are hooked when:

it is early in the a.m., maybe 0230 or so and as you are driving you happen to notice hmmm, the way the road markings are coming together looks just like veneer in points of cues. saw that last night somewhere enroute to tn and va on my job.
