I know a few guys that are in their 60's and 70's that tried carbon fiber. They went from running rack after rack with their wood shafts to not being able to hit their ass with both hands with the carbon fiber. The switched back to the good old reliable wood shafts & everything was right again.
I say everyone should ditch the carbon fiber crap & go back to wood.
I'm convinced about this and nobody can change my mind.
It’s a matter of practice, understanding the different shaft and getting used to it.
I jumped on the CF wagon and went back to wood but switched back and forth because I like both.
After trying CF, I can honestly say that
for me LD wood is just fine as I don’t travel to play pool anymore. But if I had to buy a new shaft, I would go with CF.
Some of the ferrules on a few of my 314-2 shafts seemed to crack a bit, they are still playable but they will break eventually, I won’t fix them as there is no one around to do it, and shipping overseas is not worth it, so buying a new shaft is the only option, and I would go with CF for its better durability.
The future is composite materials, no logic in fighting it, might as well accept it and get used to it.
Full composite cues are already here, and that’s the next step.
