Those here saying cameras should be added might not have watched Dr Dave’s video.

In many instances, a “regular” camera’s frame rate is insufficient to capture the instant of a hit. Often Dr experienced the hit happening between frames.

It is likely not feasible to install super-high speed cameras except for finals, and even that may be cost prohibitive.

Agree 100% with this. There's a reason why particle physicists (who are amazing mathematicians) ask even more amazing mathematicians to explain to them the outcomes of their experiments. Likewise, a referee needs a camera to make a decision based on the physics. Asking a referee to use their eyes to make a decision based on theirs or someone else's understanding of physics adds way to much pressure to an already difficult job.

It was interesting in the beginning CJ was freewheeling around almost mindlessly like he was just practicing by himself . Banking balls with like two strokes and firing balls hardly even looking.
Then he missed a bank and Miz ran out. It sort of snapped him back to reality. Most of the rest of the match he was more cautious. The freewheel was gone.

Short Rack 8 Ball

8 ball tournaments on 7 foot tables often take too long, and can ruin the entire event.
A 7 foot table with 15 balls is allot of congestion for an average player.
Why not try this, like short rack one pocket.
Rack ten balls and put the 11th ball on the bottom in line with the head ball.
Events would require less time and tables would open up for play later in the day for gambling, or the regulars that want to drink/eat/knock balls around.

Did Adam ever build Karella cues?

I am thinking that maybe they might have been made by Adam at one time though, because those look good quality to me, and used the same rubber bumper that Adam cues, if that means anything.

Anyways, I mistakenly purchased one, thinking that it might be a Schon, lol. I feel like such an idiot, lol, but it really has a very Schon like design to it, and also a 5/16x14 SS joint.

The pictures were pretty lousy though, but I thought it looked like a really good quality cue, with a fairly nicely figured BEM forearm.

I am also thinking that maybe these were made in the same factory that built Lucasi cues. The same factory also made cues for Adam, for a long time, I believe, but those Adam cues had the Roman Numeral numbers on them, just like Lucasi cues did, so that is why I made that connection. Also, similar ring work..

Anyways, getting back on topic. Does anyone here think that those Karella cues were very good quality?

I just can't find any info about them.

The one that I purchased is identical to the one in the pictures below.

I am thinking that the cue might be of similar quality to a 90's era Lucasi cue. Like those Buddy Hall Lucasi cues, for example. But, I do not know.

Closing the loop. Just got off the phone with Don Spetkar. I forgot that I actually have his phone number and have communicated with him a few years ago about something else.

Karella Cues were never built in Japan.

This cue was an upper end model, built in Taiwan most likely, maybe late 80's. They weren't built in China until late into the company's existence. I closeup of the pin might tell us, but maybe not. Believe me when I say that at that time, the Taiwan cue company, KPS and Ernie Chen, had improved to the point that they were making some quality cues. It wasn't always like that with Ernie Chen.
