CJ won probably the biggest tournament of the 1990's, when he won the ESPN World Championship held in Santa Rosa, CA in the 1990's. I actually did some commentary alongside Lon McEachern of World Series of Poker fame there. CJ won something like 75 or 80 thou at that event.

It's too slow for some situations. Remember Darren Appleton's seven and a half hour match? Race to 3. Tom Spencer was his opponent.

Whether 11 balls is the best solution is a matter of discussion. Some people play with just one ball.

The fish stories are getting pretty good on here. I should write a book.

So, we're talking 1985 and later. That eliminates some of the old guys I was going to mention.

The drill was originally promoted by Jim Rempe as a 14.1 practice. For 8 ball, it's about the same.

For rotation, it gets very hard very quickly. If you don't have excellent draw, both slow and fast, it's impossible. You will learn stun shots.

If the balls are sitting well at nine ball, I sometimes try to minimize the number of cushion contacts. I find it helps me focus because I'm forced to play exact position. You could have some kind of penalty for rail contact, like 10% of the game.

I am in my 80's, 20/20 vision via lens implants, and right handed. Forty or so years ago I decided to close my left eye while shooting pool. Just like rifle shooters. It took a little while to adjust, but it greatly improved my accuracy. If there is a problem it is in my stroke. No recommendations.

Got this idea about short rack 11 ball from Mike Massey. He said put the 11th ball in line with the head ball.
The 11th ball is racked in the back in line with the head ball per the flyer.

I believe that a lot of these old school cue makers prefer phone calls. Best to give them a call.

Yeah, but they are very expensive. His cues hit amazing though, in my experience. Does not hurt that he is / was a Pro player too.
