The CARBON FIBER Shaft With the LEAST Cue Ball DEFLECTION

Worst shaft i ever tried was the highly-touted super lo squirt Predator Z shaft. There was nothing about it that i liked. The size, taper, feel, sound all sucked imo. Yeah it was lo squirt but so what? I couldn't run four balls with that pos. Put the basic Schon shaft back on and i was good to go. I will say this: IF i was starting from scratch i would probably go with some degree of lower deflection, might possibly shorten the learning process. I played all my pool with standard shafts and was totally used to them.
I agree about the Z shaft. First one I had literally split apart just from normal shooting, no drops, breaking etc. so Predator did end up replacing it for me for free but I still never cared for it and to me my Cuetec synergy is 100% better.

The CARBON FIBER Shaft With the LEAST Cue Ball DEFLECTION

I bought a Pechauer carbon fiber shaft a few years ago, because I have a Pechauer cue, and I figured it would fit properly. And it does. Don't know how it compares, because I haven't tried any others. I like it, and it's much better than the shaft that came with the cue. But, I'm not sure it is all that much different from my Keith Josey cue, or a 314 I bought many years ago. I'm OK with it.

Best All-Around Production Cue for ~$1000 (Value, Playability, Durability, Support)?

I do not know about the finish, but as you have had a few Mezz cues, you should kniw how super tight they connected together. No other production cue on the planet fits together as tight as a Mezz.

I heard that Mezz is a small shop, and that is why they have availability issues. Low supply, and high demand.

I just love the idea of Japanese craftsmanship. Predator just seems cheap, and probably cares more about quantity over quality. I have read about their spray painted Veneers, on some of their lower end cues, in the past.

Why not buy from a great old family of cue makers (Miki of Mezz), who have been building cues since the 60's, in Japan. They probably have more experience building cues then most other cue makers. Surely more then any cue maker in Asia, I bet. They were the makers of the old Adam Balabushka cues, from Japan, for example.
Why not buy from them? Because they are never in stock anywhere. Also, they do not feel any better (to me) than any of the other big name production cues. Claiming that no other cue on the planet fits together as tightly as a Mezz is just ridiculous. Please prove it, and not with just "trust me bro" reasoning. Let's see some data.

You get used to any cue FAST. You play with any cue/shaft and your 'pool system' adjusts to it. What you said 'might' be true if you suddenly switched to another shaft, then yes you may miss some til you adjust.
In that case, LD shafts are unnecessary, just get used to a cue….

I’m amazed that after 30 years of LD shafts, people still don’t get the concept

John Schmidt runs 820

I personally have Shaw at 714 (before he ran the 830 something). I understand all the hoopla about the touched ball and the BCA changing it to 669. Almost the entire country on every tournament plays cb fouls only. I watched his 714 live (the last hour or so), and I bought the zip drive that was advertised as 714.

Hell, he even got a 714 tattoo!

Same as I have Schmidt at 820. Yes, I saw the nudged OB.

To each his own. All of those runs were amazing.
same. didnt buy the drive but i did send john s $6.26 while watching his run. monster runs are awesome.

jayson ran 830 something clean though. the 669/714 was the previous record
indeed

Personally, I don't care how a cue sounds or feels or looks. I just care that the CB goes where I want with the speed and spin I want. See:

I am the complete opposite, sound and feel are paramount to me. Of course I want the cue to go where I aim, but I will learn these nuances over time, as one does anytime they change equipment.

A certain putter manufacturer always says that sound=feel=confidence, and personally I agree.

Hello, new player saying hi.

Where do you live? There might be a good instructor in your area who could check your fundamentals.

Some leagues are better than others. If you aren't playing at least half the time you are at the venue, the main value will be social. If you get pointers in league, filter them very carefully. "Jack up and snap the cue back for backspin. Lots of wrist."

There are lots of videos of pro players. See which ones have the most solid fundamentals. Keep it simple. Video record yourself.
