Pool Wars by Jay Helfert

Unless it's significantly lower (and not too slow), I will go with first class. At least for all the advance orders I've received. After they are filled, I may use the lower book rate. Thanks.

I believe it's called "media mail". Don't know about the time difference or the rate though.

Shoot, I was asleep at the wheel and let this thread pass me by! By now I'm likely shut out of the first run of 500 numbered copies. Nuts!

All just the same, I'm still interested in getting a copy Jay. How 'bout we flip for it? C'mon Jay, you got some gamble, don't ya? Here, call it in the air......DAMN, you...lucky...dog! .....I guess I'll be sending my check for TWO books.... No, no, no, I'm not going double or nothing. No that's it, you get too many good rolls!

Oh well, now I'll have something to read while I hide from the bosses at work.

I WON THE FLIP! Only about halfway to 500 sold. You're in luck. ;)

Hi Jay!

I've finally gotten around to sending payment via PayPal! I'm looking forward to the book!

Jay, I have now started threads on the forums in Germany, Netherland, England, Sweden and Norway, with links to your website. Hopefully you will end up shipping some books to Europe too! :)

I have about six orders from Europe and four or five from Asia already. Thanks Roy.

Just got an e-mail from the production department at Bookmasters, the company who is printing Pool Wars. Expected delivery date is now March 20. I had originally thought it might be as early as the 15th. I ask all of you who have ordered already to please be patient. My plan it to ship all advance orders via First Class mail to save time on my end. After that I will be using Media Mail which takes several days longer to arrive.

I am as anxious as anyone else to physically have copies of my book in my hands. Looks like that will be within a couple of weeks, and maybe another few days to get them to you. On International orders I know it will take longer. I will send them the fastest way I can that is not too pricey. Thanks again, we have well over 250 orders right now.

You know I was thinking about what I would do if I actually made any money selling my books. I'm certainly not a rich man, but I have very small debts and overhead. My conclusion is that it will allow me to do more in the pool world. I'm very satisfied personally when I can contribute a few dollars to a good cause, or an individual who needs the help. And I mean this sincerely. I know I always kid around on here, but there are many serious threads which get my attention as well. Like the recent one about Tony Sulsar from Texas. I feel like we have a big family here who can do so much to help someone when help is needed.

To me this is the best part of being a member of the AZ family.

Jason

(as long as we have to refers to about 5 days after March 20th :D)

Sounds Good

Expected shipping date is March 15-20. All original orders (first 500 Limited Edition) are going out first class mail for quicker delivery.

I just need gobrian77's book by April 6, so I can take it to him on the 7th.

Jay

I really enjoy your stories and the unvarnished assessments of various player skills, games, and temperaments.

Thanks for the update on the shipment time.

(Paypal sent and all that).

Once again, I have no control of Bookmasters printing schedule. I am not the only author who they are printing books for. I am doing my utmost to expedite this order, but ultimately it's up to them. It's my first go round, so I have to see how everything works. So far it all looks very professional and they have very good references (Phil Capelle among them). I like what I see so far, including sample books they sent to me from other authors.

I knew early on that this was not going to be a rush job and for that I was glad. There were a couple of companies who could turn out my book faster (and cheaper), but I did not feel as comfortable with them for various reasons. Ultimately, it was their customer service that won me over. Someone was always there to answer my questions, and they were patient with me when I didn't quite get it (that happens often with me).

What I do have control over is what to do with the books when they come in. I am doing all I can to be prepared to ship as quickly as possible when they arrive. Just sending them first class will save days on delivery time. For me this is about thirty to forty cents extra per book. I know that I will not be able to ship 250-300 orders the first day. In fact, if I can get them all out in 3-4 days, I will be doing good. I will be shipping in the order payments were received. First in, first out is my policy here. So those of you who sent payments on Feb. 20, 21 & 22 will be getting the first shipments. And those of you who sent more recent payments will probably be a couple of days behind.

Now please tell the houseman to take me off time.

Jay,

You are doing a fine job and are family. Take as long as you need to send "your" book to us. May I just say, Thank You for writing this book and the others you have planned. It is no mean feat. Hats off to you, Sir.

Thanks Again,

Dwight
