World Championships!!

I was mistaken when I thought it was the World Championships. It is the Amway World 9-ball Open. For the past few years the World Championships and the Amway Cup were the same event. I guess now they have seperated again. I am hoping to also get an invite to the event in September in China!

Roy, thanks, I feel the same way. Like I said, I'm happy to get a chance to travel and play in a touranment like this!

Sam and Elio, thank you for your donations!

Sean, I wasn't exactly sleep typing, more like should be asleep typing. I was so pumped up yesterday from all the good news and the kindness of everyone so far that I couldn't sleep! I'm more like a little kid than an adult!

Patrick, I didn't know about the final tournament. I have played in two of the Open events at the Carom Room. I would like to make it. That is a great tournament and friendly people. Lately though that tournament has been conflicting with everything else. I hope to make it back soon. Thanks for letting me know!

Kenny, sorry, didn't mean to leave you out the first time I posted this. Thank you. Just wishing me good luck means a lot. Good luck to you with all the local stuff!

Thanks again
Sarah

$ on the way, Sarah. My best to you. Let us know when the t-shirts are available.
Good luck!

Thank you Chris!

It is official now, everyone that has donated money is now a Heartbacker...a little play on the nickname Heartbreaker. I am having the patches made right now and they will be done within 10 days. Everyone that has donated will receive one in the mail and I will wear that patch when I play in tournaments to show my thanks to all of you for your kindness! Here is what it looks like.

A little bump to the top for the evening crowd. Lets get the fund maxed out so Sarah doesn't have to worry about getting there and can get in some good practice before she heads out. Johnnyt

Can I get that one in pink? :D

Thanks Jay...considering you helped with it!

Roy, I'm sorry, but the patch won't be available in pink. I hope this still works for you. I know how you love pink!

tigerseye...U.S. passports cost the same, whether you apply for them at the post office, or from the passport office. The only time they cost more, is if you go through a private "expiditer" firm.

C'mon...stick a crowbar in your wallet and send Sarah the entry fee for just ONE of those tourneys...every $10-$15 helps!

You can get passports at the post office now for alot cheaper.....

Sarah...What a long way you have come, from that cute little 10 yr old (at the BCA kid's cue camp), to now playing on a world level! Best of luck, and $50 is on it's way to you!

Well, I was just invited to the Women's World Championships in Tapai, Taiwan. It will be held April 29-May 3. Thank you all in advance...even if you just say congrats!

Sarah

Sarah,
My sincerest congratulations; a very nice accomplishment.

If you will PM me with your address, I will send along a donation (I have no Paypal abilities) and a copy of a Taiwan guidebook. I promise that I will not pass along your address to any internet/psycho/stalker guys (though I have occasionally been labeled as such, I deny all such allegations....I'm more like a stalker-in-training).

My wife was fortunate enough to travel to Taipei with one of the players in last year's Amway Cup; so let me give you some unasked for advice. Taiwan is an exotic travel destination, and if there is any way to tack a few extra days on your stay before or after the tourney, you should consider doing so. The cost of the travel is the same, and a few extra days/nights in such a country will be something that you will remember for a long time.

My wife's friend had visited Taipei for this tournament several times, and had NEVER gone to the National Museum, a night market, or any of the interesting geographical areas. My wife of course forces everyone who travels with her into "commando vacation" mode. She wants to see everything, everywhere.

Here is a link to the thread from last year with many pictures of Taiwan as well as of the pool venue. The fans were fanatical; the media attention was intense and continuous. Very different atmosphere.

Best of luck in the tournament; we will all be rooting for you.

Congrats for the invite, Sarah - you definitely earned it. You will do us and US proud!!!

Nostroke, I did hear about the tournament in September as well. I hoping to continue playing well this year and also get an invite to that! Only time will tell but I am confident.

Scott, I have come along way ability wise, but I almost still look the same as I did back then! Thank you for your donation. I appreciate it.

Mr. Betmore...I will be sending you a PM. I thank you for the information. I'm not sure how long I will be staying. I'm sure I will be a bit overwhelmed with things at first seeing that this is my first time out of North America. It will be an adventure and I will definitely attempt to see things other than the hotel room and the venue!

Sunny..thanks so much. I sure hope to make everyone proud!

Thanks again everyone,
Sarah

No another one Sarah-This one is in June and has 64 men 32 women -150K and 75K.

I will have to look into that one Davey.

And for the passport questions. Last summer I got mine for the first time. I had to have it expedited and I got it at the post office. I want to say with the pictures included it was somewhere between $190 and $210. I can't remember exactly. I do know that I got it within 5 days.
