Earl calling out Joe Rogan

Just for some perspective here:

Earl got publicity he couldn't have paid for. Literally couldn't have purchased it from anybody for any amount.

I showed Joe's video to a friend who doesn't play pool, doesn't know who Earl is (but does know who Joe Rogan is) and he laughed his ass off. He spent 20 minutes on Youtube watching anything he could find about Earl. Now Earl has another fan OUTSIDE of pool.

I think Earl and Joe playing is fabulous and I will watch it (if my schedule permits). I think it has appeal beyond serious pool players and only good things will come out of it.

My opinion is to let the words flow and the trash talking continue. The people who would be offended by it won't be watching anyway.

The worst thing that could happen is if it is a serious, quiet match like everybody glimpses on ESPN for a second as they switch through the channels.

joe will get the right spot to make it a good game. Whoever wins will get to take home some $$ and a chunk will go to Charity. I see nothing wrong with someone making a payday out of it. So if the spot is right it will be a close game and not lining Earls pockets.

This was never a straight out challenge to gamble. Why would a B player accept to do that with one of the best in the world. Why would one of the best in the world challange a B player to gamble.
The word CHARITY was the focus.
The spot is right? OK
B against a legend. Has to be at least 5 out and the breaks
Best,
Ken Kerner

Ken let the players sort out the spot for now. Not sure what u r so hung up about here, just lets have some fun and maybe do some good things for pool and some unfortunate kids.

I know Joe, and he's been around a room for a while. I'm in no way speaking for him... But, I'm sure he's not planning on donating to Earl, but would for charity...

I agree.... Let's have some fun and do good things for pool and kids.

If it's a personal money match.. Well... let's see a fair game..
Best,
Ken

First, I'm not am Earl fan, although I have watched him play since the early 80's and have played him once. And I have to admit he has been one of the best 9-ball players ever. But in this type of situation which is the equivalent of a challenge/exhibition match both of these guys deserve to have their expenses paid and some amount of a profit. Not too many people do much for free.

I'm sure Earl got a little riled up the first time he saw the video but I figure after he thought about it he decided to take a shot at Joe with the jab "let's see him impersonate a pool player". I don't know about some of you people but you poke fun at me and I'm going to poke back. So in this case good for Earl and maybe a little something can be made for a good kids charity. I will pay the pay per view to watch the woofing.

If they both agree to wear beekeeper suits and assweights, I will personally donate to a pool that goes to charity!

I think they should each be playing for a charity of their choice, and it would be great if the pool community could get behind them by throwing in some $. I know we'd all love to see this match happen, right? Especially for a good cause.

This is a great opportunity to have some fun, inspire some new jokes, and help some people in need. It doesn't matter who wins and under what circumstances... Joe and Earl are two of the funniest guys in pool, and watching them match up would make everyone a winner.

Earl is a serious player but I'd bet that if they did a roast match, Earl could hold his own in witty comebacks against Joe. If they both took it on the chin and had a bit of fun, it would be great match to watch.

In this corner standing 5'9" and 195 pounds of rippling muscle, Mr. Joe Rogan. In the other corner standing 6' tall and 190 pounds of advanced jello, Mr. Earl Strickland. The Mouth of the West vs. the Stroke from the East! Up to twenty one rounds of all out warfare on the green battlefield before you. Winner take all, loser buys drinks! Ten little balls to decide who rules pool. First man to win eleven games is the victor.

Mr. Strickland can only win on the Ten Ball, Mr. Rogan wins on any even numbered ball from the four thru the ten (the 4,6,8 & 10). Mr. Rogan to break, EVERY TIME! This is a Texas Style Pool match, anything goes, sharking is allowed at all times. Let the best man win!

In this game, I'll take Rogan for a sweat.

this could be the new school Mosconi / Fats show

this would be the most entertaining pool related event in quite a while, imagine all the people that would tune in and watch this it would be awesome to say the least

I dont understand how some people dont understand why Joe would post up to play Earl. Joe is a fan of pool and a fan of Earl, as long as its not a stupid amount why WOULDNT he post up? I mean if I had the chance to play Earl, Reyes, Varner, Buddy, or any others on a long list for an amount I could afford my money would be on the light as fast as I could get it there!

Not to mention its a chance to raise some money for Charity.

Make a fair game, and everyone will have a good time. Im sure Joe wants it to be fair, but at the same time he should want to have to make more than the 5 ball to win. He strikes me as the type of guy that would want to push himself and feel like he did something if he got a few games on the Pearl :)

Ok, just going through a issue here of what kind of spot to give. I was told that Joe has to go to 10 and Earl to 20. How does that sound? if not what is the spot for a B player against a legend? Please let mek now and hges not wearing a bee keeper outfit before u say it.

There should also be some DVD sales as I'm sure people who miss the PPV will want to see the show on DVD.

JoeyA
Some thgings have comeup andpossibly no PPV just a free stream forthe fans. Thanks to TAR and CSI. We shall see as things progress

The game spot wouldn't work.
It would be like Tiger saying to a 20 handicapper "You have to beat me 1 out of 10 rounds"

Joe isn't going to win many games sitting in the chair. Playing Earl even each game is crazy. Earl will beat him to the shot and runout, or lock him up, then put a package of death on him.
First thing is to get the breaks so Earl can't coma-tize him with a big package.
Now the ball spot.
Earl will over come any spot when he gets to the table. Joes only chance is to get the breaks and run to the spot balls or lose.
I believe Jay Helfert's game was pretty close...

I believe Shane gave Scooter a big spot like 5-out and the breaks, or something close, and still won.
Scooter is an A-Open player, and plays better then Joe.
Let's here some opinions..
Best,
Ken

for some reason the break and the 5 out sounds right to me and I have never seen Joe play. When Earl gets to the table he will out shoot, move, and think Joe and that is not any disrespect to Joe. I'm a B player and would think I would need atleast that just to feel like I have a chance.
