I think most pros adjust for squirt, swerve, and throw mostly by feel and intuition. They just come down into a shot with the cue along the necessary line for the given shot. In case you thought there would be an answer to this question, and are frustrated by the sarcastic replies you have seen so far, let me disabuse you of your mistaken notions:
Nobody knows. Some people speculate, and there is a LOT of mythical "information" where this guy who plays in my pool hall said he heard from his uncle that Efren Reyes taught him how he applies english, and he totally aims and pivots!!!
But nobody knows.
