I agree that there is no reason to respond to most of the negative or questionable things said in this thread. On the other hand the match itself as a stand alone event could be good for the ladies involved and good for pool. A classy well organized money match does no harm to reputations or to the sport.
My take on the match up: Skills, maybe an edge to Borana based on the four pack playing ten ball and national team championship. Heart, we know Melinda has plenty and we have been told by people that know her that Borana does too. Call it even. Determination? I don't think one person in a thousand would go through the things Melinda does to play pool plus she has been chasing after another money match for awhile. I can't be certain but just playing the odds I give Melinda the edge here.
On paper Borana wins. On the table I'd bet Melinda. I hope we get to find out, not as a silly match to settle anything personal which doesn't seem to exist between the two players anyway but simply as a sporting event.

She obviously loves pool. I would suspect that every person on this board has that in common with her. That's something that 99.999999% of the rest of the world, does not have in common with you. In that way, you might consider her your sister or at least comrade in arms.... Some of you clowns might choose to embrace that and not fault her the fact that she happens to be attractive which has opened up unique opportunities for her. Just being honest, but I think OMG vs Emily Duddy would be a better match up.
I don't know Emily's game, is she closer to OMGWTF's speed and not about to run a 10 ball 4 pack like Borana is ? I mean that 4 pack stuff is pretty strong.

As a friend of the KOD team, it really bothers me to see the haters out there. These girls are by far not self promoting! That is a plain fact. Most people have approached them and if it's because of their looks as well, so be it! They have done nothing to dishonor the game of pool. They are good amateur players aspiring to be pro's. If anyone read the article in "Inside Pool", Borana said her self that she was aspiring to be a pro. Never claimed to be one. Stop just looking at the pictures and read once in awhile. It's unfortunate that ignorance gets in the way of pure facts. As usual, "Opinions are like assholes........everybody has one!

Great first post. Seems to me that Borana is more than aspiring, I can't think of the last time I saw someone lay down a 4 pack in 10 ball, that's beyond aspiring pro, that's pro.

I watched this video earlier, have been seeing NYC Grind and KOD doing more and more stuff which is great since I am from NY myself. I am not sure what the hell the big deal is about people bashing some ladies who love pool just as much and if not more then many of us. I think they are a group of good looking women who play pool well, in time they will improve, Borana has been playing pool for 5 years or something and I think some of the others are fresh too, being a B player in 5 years or less is pretty solid. Ok, I'm really sick of people saying there is no self promotion going on with KOD. Alison Fisher is hugely involved wih NYCGrind.com and, from what I know, Was engaged to the owner. NYCGrind.com is the biggest promoter of his league team. So how is that not self promotion???

The most I've ever ran in 9-ball was a 5-pack, and that was at least 4-5 years ago. I am not even close to repeat it, but I am 5 times a better player today then back then, and I still suck.
The 4-pack means nothing, what counts is consistency. I would be more interested in how often she runs out in 9-ball in average in a race to 9.
I would guess less than 5%, based on the wpba-stats for the top 64 players there.
I hope this match happen. I like both girls, even though I've never met "omgwtf" she's like a friend and I would bet on her. But I think it will be close.

I want to thank every one for their opinion, I did not get any negativity from this thread. Some of the people that might sound negative are just asking normal questions that any one would ask. I understand that.
There are a few things I need to clarify here:
1) The 4 pack in ten ball only happened ONCE in my life, and it was at Master Billilards which every one knows the pockets are absolute BUCKETS! I just happen to have one good day. This does not mean I play that good. I really don't. I was shocked at myself, trust me.
2) BrooklynJay - You called me out through your own friends and I said I will play you and then you ask for the 7 out. If you are going to call me out, then play me even. I do not bark at people.
3) I am willing to play Melinda whom I have never met or seen her play. We can talk about the details after. I don't know why people would say that on paper, I may seem like the favorite. I don't think so as I don't nearly have the same gambling experience as she does and the most I have ever played for was 200$. Never mind I have only been in the pool world for a few years.
Sounds like it would be fun and a good experience for me. I would love to play!

These people love and promote this game. I sweated some matches with them at the 2009 US Open and the SBE in Valley Forge this year. They are a credit to the sport we all love!!! Lighten up man!!!
