A real creep

Sounds like Grady should just get a spine, regain his manhood and apologize.

Also, after reading more about him..

Grady, you're a douche, and that is something you cannot overcome just by being good at something. Maybe you could buy a friend with winnings (or could, years ago), but that only lasts so long.

So what if somebody is good at something, that excuses nothing. Maybe he feels entitled to a crappy attitude because of people kissing his butt for so long for being good.

10 years old or 70 years old, I'll still call somebody out on their actions. At first it sounded like a one-off, but obviously it is not.

What a night..

Well, in a twist of irony Grady has lost some money and some respect all in one night of gambling, and now he wears the title of A Real Creep.

Remember Parica is all of 5foot and 120 lbs. IF he would have sucker punched DENNIS HATCH they would be still looking for GRADYS glasses and teeth.

I asked Parica if he was afraid of hustlin in the rough bars when he first came to the US and he said, "No, I am a Black Belt in Karate."

I woud be surprised if there wasn't a bob or weave and a counter punch.

As for this whole issue, im speechless and honestly dont have an opinion.

On another note. I was at the tournie that weekend and did notice Grady there but not playing. He was selling some of his DVDs and books. I picked up his "Just Kicks" video and told everyone around me (about 5-10 people), that that single DVD has been the best thing I have ever tried for my kicking game. Then I looked at Grady and told him he made a terrific video and it has helped me immensely. While Grady was sitting down eating a cheeseburger he paused between bites to say "thank you".

That was my first and probably will be last experience with Grady Matthews, unless there are lessons in the future.

I have had some bad experiences in Kolby's as well, but it has always been my own fault due to me not being careful with who and how I match up with. I have also had some good experiences there as well and on several occasions came out way ahead for the night.

my 2 cents

Well,,,, it looks like you and Grady are kindred spirits in that department.

Some of the best advice I have received in my 60+ years...

After you write that letter explaining why you feel you were wronged... tear it up and go on your way. You'll be a better person for it.

Grady should have hit "Delete" instead of "Submit".

Joey, I got to say that Kolby's probably has the highest concentration of A to A+ to even shortstop speed players that I have ever seen in any pool hall in the country. Usually you get 2 or 3 strong players in a descent pool hall. Kolby's probably has about 15 or so that roll in regularly. So, I am not ashamed to say I have lost money there. It is usually in matches were I just want to beat the better player and raise my own game. I seriously doubt that this was Grady's intentions when he gambled there! That is where we are not kindred spirits, believe me.

That was REALLY cool! WOW!!

I gotta say that I understand Grady's point of view. I have taken Pro Players to events and many people donated a little something (cheap sets) to the player knowing how tough it is out there. The participants have a great time and the players appreciate it.

Grady Prolly thought that, being the owner, that he would throw him a little something through a game, like his way of saying thanks for coming. Instead Grady gets a dose of reality.

Hard pill to swallow.

Ding Ding Ding. I mean I too have done this. I won some money betting against Scott Frost for an entire weekend, and on that Monday I could have played him or SVB some cheap sets. I decided to play Scott sets getting the called 8 to give him a small donation. At the time, I know he appreciated it very much and I'd do it again in that spot.

Grady,

If you're reading this thread, take a moment to think about things. Fall on the sword, take accountability and maybe even apologize to Jimmy. I think you're letting emotion interfere with logic.

I think if you did, you'd be warmed by the responses.

Respectfully,
Dave

I guess my notion of what constitutes a cheap set is is a little different than yours, guys. I mean I get what you're saying but I don't get how Grady could have been assuming he would be receiving a "small donation" when the stakes were $500/set. Besides, did I read in here somewhere that Grady was betting the rail with at least one person? This guy owes it to his customers to bring it if they are betting on him. Making a "donation" to the Grady fund goes out the window, imho, the moment Grady takes action with the guy's customers. Even if this isn't the case I don't consider $500 sets either cheap or a small donation.

It was definitely and odd situation. It just appears from Grady's OP and subsequent other posts, that he was thinking this was a way for the owner AND possibly even the rail to show a little love.

Grady

WHY would GRADY think anyone should donate money to him? He was coming to gamble not to do a promotion for the owner. The owner had no obligation to donate anything to him.The owner did offer food and table time free to the 2 players. He came in to hustle anyone he could and found out it didnt work. Just like his false post didnt work!!!

That would be just super of Grady thinking that and then stating "I don't play cheap!". Seriously, if he thought he was being gifted money and then said something like that it looks only worse.

That said most pro's are not having the money thrown at them, they are getting played by people who want to experience playing a pro level player and the pros are simply too good to beat. Grady is not a pro level player anymore, not even close, it is not a match that would be a professional level experience for those stepping out. To top it all off Grady unlike the actual pro level players is not simply too good for those people to beat, tons of people can beat him for the cash these days.
