The way it really went down

I would of made sure that he would have never been able to even hold a pool cue, much less even hit a ball again. What a sore loser.

This thread is a disgrace to the sport. There is nothing positive for Billiards to read here. Nothing gentlemanly or respectful about it. Crying on a public forum about losing out on your illegal ventures is about as second rate as it gets. Cry me a river losers.

I take it you read the entire thread? what was it that you found so captivating to keep your interest, being such a gentleman? Was it the destation you have for us other guys? :boring2:

Dave:

Please clarify for us, are you maintaining that you squared up the $50k payment for the 3rd set? And if so, can you once and for all provide us with a when, where, and who was there to witness and can confirm payment was made?

OR:

Are you saying for whatever reasons (Scott spitting, stomping, ball wetting, door opening, general dislike of Scott) that you do not wish to pay up for this debt?

And the final question:

Did you receive $10k from Bartram on behalf of Scott for the SUV purchase? Yes or No?

These questions remain unanswered. They are absolutely crucial to the argument at hand.

Dave, care to clarify?

YOU THINK BILLY WOULD BE SMART ENOUGH TO HAVE BOTH SIDES POST. I KNOW EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM WANTS TO WORSHIP BILLY BUT HE IS OLD ENOUGH AND EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO KNOW BUSINESS IS BUSINESS.

SCOTT IS PRETTY STUPID TO GIVE SOMEONE $10k AND NOT GET A TITLE AND HAVE IT SIGNED.

FOR GUYS THAT THINK THEY ARE PRETTY SMART, THIS CREW SEEMS PRETTY STUPID. I FEEL SORRY FOR NONE OF THEM.

Ken

If you read my initial post I metioned that there are times imo that it's advisable not to post (not often) if you want a shot of winning some decent money. Sometimes it's best. On another note, i'm not looking for your sympathy, or anyone elses, just justice.:)

This thread has an element of surrealism. What we have here are professional and semi-professional players lining up like sharks in a feeding frenzy to clean out Dippy's bank account of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Even with a huge spot, a C-player like Dippy can be at a pretty big disadvantage.

This thread is putting some heat on the 'Update on the Des Moines pool scene' thread and might surpass it on views and posts if it stays at this rate. The Des Moines thread has 5543 posts and 138, 386 views and has been going for 431 days as of right now. This thread would have way more than that after the same length of time if it continued at this same rate, actually as impossible as it sounds it would have almost 100,000 posts and 3,355,766 views.

Billy, Don't let the guys who don't have a clue get to you. I wonder how many times he walked into the poolroom with $150K cash ready to bet it up! ;)

By the way, does anyone here think that Billy and Scott are going to declare their 100K in gambling winnings on their income taxes?

With all due respect, I don't think the sharks circled a helpless Dippy in a feeding frenzy. :D

In fact, in some instances, the orientation of the challenge match was initiated by Dippy himself. He used to play pool many years ago and loves to compete on a field of green.

BTW, I have been wanting to ask this question but forgot to ask it, in all the hoopla. What kind of cue stick does Dippy shoot with? Just curious! :)

Usually I would say that this is kind of caustic sleaze that keeps pool in the gutter. But after reading it I think its just good entertainment. The most prolific thread on the forum is the funnygif/pic thread. I don't think this thread will even come close.

I read the entire thread.

Conflicting stories about a deal gone sour. Maybe he paid maybe he didn't. Regardless of what really happened you engaged (also others) in illegal activity and have chosen to whine about the outcome publicly. You posted to provide information with the intent to garner support from the AZ troops. You wanted to right the alleged wrong?! Yes/No. You want support to collect an illegal debt.

I hardly think these kinds of threads serve to represent and promote the game. These threads command or demand justice and respect? You think this gambling is the stuff legends are made of? We should all really care right, because the stakes are high? Or higher than most here would ever consider.

This thread does nothing for the sport and last I checked this wasn't a gambling forum.

Its of my opinion, yeah its an opinion, that real men and real gambling should be done privately not publicly. I'd liken this to a guy whose goes to the papers and cries about not getting his cut of the bank robbery. Boohoo.

The selling of the auto is a civil matter and should be addressed in court. I really don't have anything for that. Not really billiard related anyway.

I guess I just figured I could air it out as well. Right along side your dirty laundry. Why not?

I don't think we were trying to "get to him". I didn't realize that walking in to a poolroom with 150K was what this sport was all about? Is that what I should be promoting to my kids?

You have the right to express your opinion, as unpopular as it is. You also have a right to quit reading it so it doesn't sicken you anymore. That would be my suggestion.

Well, I'm kind of glad to read all about the Tales of Las Vegas in 2010.

It sure does brighten up my otherwise dull world of work, work, and more work.

After all, this is exactly the stuff that movies are made of. "The Hustler," probably one of the all-time best pool movies ever, has a lot of similarities to this thread -- the backers committee and the chop-chop, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. :o

In fact, when "The Color of Money" came out, another gambling pool movie about two players on the road hustling their way to Atlantic City for the big tournament, pool in these United States of America had a boom in popularity.

Like it or hate it, you have the pool purists who think gambling is a dirty word, and then you have the players who like to stack it as high as the Georgia pine. Either way, pool can be a real thrill, but to each their own. :winknudge:

If I have to put up with the emotionless robotic tournament soldiers, then I don't see anything wrong with others putting up with the excitement of two players engaging in a game of high stakes.

There are no clear winners in this situation...Could have been handled better by all parties involved...100k score is still a hell of a take..especially these days...& I'll go on a limb and guess that was 2 to 1 odds on the money...with such a spot If Dave would have won the 1st set I seriously doubt there would have been a 2nd much less a 3rd..not saying it's right or wrong cuz really only 2 people in the whole world knows the absolute truth...again hindsite is 20/20 but when you have somebody trying to go off it's best to just be as nice as possible & let him sail....If Scott would have killed him with kindness I'm sure none of this would have happened...whatever it was that happened 2 wrongs don't make a right but I do believe Scott shot his own self in the foot by his actions.

No you fool! That's the point exactly! No one walks into the pool room with $150K! If you're going to bet that high, you have to have some trust that you'll get paid. Do you think the guys playing in the "big game" in Vegas walk around with a million in their pocket? Arrangements were made and someone didn't fulfill their obligation.

Dippy "only" had 125K and a Rolex with him, not 150K.

You sure you read the whole thread? ;)

Probably not as unpopular as you'd think.

I'm not sickened. I just find it ironic that a guys is crying for justice for his illegal endeavors.

I don't want to stifle what he has to say but 10+ pages later I figured at least someone has to say it. I'm not the only one who thinks this semi high stakes public pandering is what real attention whores are made of. Used to be that what really made the art of gambling special was the fact that it was kept private...you know, between gentlemen. Now its all about glossing yourself as a big baller.

Reminds me of what old customer of mine used to say. Real men don't talk about their balls because real men know they got'em.
