WPBA why top players were gay?

Let me start by saying that this is not a homophobic thread.
I was thinking about it last night after reading another thread in NPR about Homosexuals.
Why do you think the top women players were gay for the past 10 years?
It was #1 and #2 in the world were and there were quite a few right behind them. Do gay women play better? Or that is just the way it was during that time span. Nowadays we have some new players coming up and playing great so why just the past 10 yeas. Just curious what others think why this occurred.
This thread is not meant to be offensive but rather thought provoking.

I am not sure but I think that there are many homosexual and bi-sexual women in all of the professional sports. I think these women are, in general, more independent, free spirited, and more willing to take on the life style requirements as a pro player than non-homosexual or some bi-sexual women.

To be a “known” homosexual or a bi-sexual in our culture requires an adventurous and somewhat “gutsy” interpersonal style. This is also a requirement for competitive athletes.

In lieu of a lengthy reply I'll just say this:

(It's a joke, Bob. This thread has been done before and will inevitably degenerate into 40 pages of bickering.) ;)

They have more testoterone and therefore, can draw the ball better, making them better pool players? haha

This thread requires people to cross the PC boundaries and probably won't get much action..

I know for a fact that this is overblown. Many of the women who are reported to be gay are not. There are actually very few. Given the way women in pool tend to be treated as sex objects I believe some of the ladies who are not gay prefer leaving that impression though.

Heterosexual woman get distracted playing pool because there are always so many men around. Could you imagine trying to play pool in a room of 40 women and being one of the only guys? Gay woman dont have to worry about this.

WPBA players "Gay" ???

....(perhaps not a P.C. subject), but the women pros travel A LOT, live out of a suitcase, share expenses by rooming together, don't have a lot of $$$ to go to the hair stylist (therefore short boy-like hair cuts...easy to keep up). Some may well be "gay", however many just look "butch" or "dyke" due to their haircut and may not be "gay". Those that are may well have become that by the situation above and sharing A LOT of time with other woman...falling in love...relationships...(or just GOOD friends). I'm not to judge. I.M.H.O.

This is by far one of the most thought provoking threads I've seen on this forum. I've noticed that most of the really good thought provoking threads are started by gay guys.

Why is that? If I start a thread it is so boring that I am lucky to get 5 replies. If a gay guy starts a thread like this it usually goes on forever.

Maybe they just got turned off by all the men they met in pool rooms.......

Let's face it...there are some really screwed up pool players hanging around!

Not sure if you were serious or not, but either way, you're spot on with that.

Is a woman gay because she doesn't want to have sex with every man that wishes she would?

2 woman travel together as road partners. Gay? What about 2 men traveling together? Gay?

To me it doesn't matter. Everyone needs someone either way.

Thanks for putting a humorous twist to an ugly topic :grin-square:

But, honestly and seriously - I think many more heterosexual women in any athlete can be on top if they didn't embrace the motherhood. Don't get me wrong, but barely a handful have done it and it's not impossible, but not practical.

It takes you out of ranking for a year or so just during and after pregnancy and even longer if you're breast feeding... Did you notice Jeannette Lee missing in action? Yeah, that's why.

I don't know how many men would take up the 'full time mom' duty so the wife can compete all over the world...

I can name young prospect that had a potential of reaching top pro status who quiet due to motherhood. It's a choice a woman has to make or dealt with:(

Joe:

Don't you think there are many homosexual and bi-sexual MEN in all of professional sports, also? I'm not taking sides here; I'm just trying to be fair.
