I know there's quite a few slang names for the cue ball. Here's a few and, please let me know what I missed.

And while we're at it, what are some slang names for the other balls?

Cue ball =

whitey
the rock
the pill
mudball (specific)
the pearl <---heard this one just last night, as in "he's gonna twirl the pearl" (apply some english to get shape)

What others?

Best,
Brian kc

Biscuit

Have not heard them much, but every now and again.

Thats right

rock = stone
shooter -as in marbles {marvels in some areas} {You lost your shooter} scratch
ivy- for ivory I guess
Quey
Mister White
Please, no insults I didn't make these up, I just heard them used.
Almost forgot the obvious
Measle ball

When playing in the Tulsa Billiards Palace you would routinely hear this while watching some one pocket.....

"HOLD YOURSELF LORETTA!!"

lmfao,
-Grey Ghost-

theres an old school guy here that likes to call it "egglette" from time to time.

Toy Ball

Toy "Got these names out of Buddy's book), I never heard them in a pool room IIRC

Judy<-----------Earl and I call it that. I didnt realize until a couple years ago earl called it Judy(saw it on a video), I dont know where I picked up that name.

Lucy

Sally many years ago. Back in the 80's about the time I was using "Judy"and "Lucy" I have no idea where i picked up those 3 names. Around various rooms I suppose.

"Ho Sno"<-------------Mike Deschaine

I most often call it the rock unles i'm gambling pretty high. then its Judy or lucy., i dont know why.??? .maybe even a Sally on a rare acccasion if its rolling slowly to the hole, sits there/stops then falls. Mike Massey did that to me the other day, (thats a Sally, I think he nugged box when i wasnt looking so it would fall ;))

I call all red circle balls shit, or a beginner rock, cause anyone can suck their rock with it. or suck their nug.short for (nuggett)...They ahould be banned!!!!Learn to draw a realrock. bouncy asss red circles usless things they are. they make people who cant draw their rock "Think" they can.Good for biz I suppose

Big Ball on a barbox is a gaff ball to me(just me-its not at all), many think other wise Like Tracy Joe Salazar plays great with the big ball, COOL FACT:Joe and I are from the same little town of Tracy Ca it was around 10,000 population back then in the 60's-i was born in 66, Joe left in 63 I believe. At least one great player came from Tracyand it aint the young guy :(. Actually on a BB its perhaps the best ball b/c you can open up wide angles and open clusters etc.

i call it whitty when playing 1P only.

I could go on, funny how many names the rock has for me under different circumstances. I have awalys liked lots of name's for it.

in the UK in proper snooker I believe its refered to as the "White"

joke of the day: I call it "useless" plaing a champion ;)

thats all I can think of I do have more, as this has awalys been a fun aspect of pool for me-how many names for the same thing, unless its a red circle then its not the same this its a POS :D i hope everyone enjoyed this thread, I really did.

I refer to it as, "The World's Laziest White Man, when I'm explaining to my students the need to follow through, if you are, asking for cue-ball movement after contacting the object-ball."

If you don'y follow through, it becomes, The World's Laziest White Man."

;)

We used Judy growing up in VA too.

The Koreans say, 'Ho, ball!';)

my

thats my favorite name. I only seem to use it when I'm gambling high anymore. funny how that works, grown men talking to balls out loud, if I never been to a room before and saw a group of people talking to balls I''d really wonder if I was at the puzzle factory or where the heck I was. :D Bowlers and dart people do they talk to the pins or dartboards? I dont talk to my gun when I go shooting.

HAve a great day,

Eric:smile:
