ever notice, when a player loses a match it is never his/her fault. even if said player puts himself in a bad game. it is always, i played bad, you got all the rolls. when the truth of the matter is that they just dont play as good as they precieve themselves. the thing that really gets me is when the sweaters tell the winner nice game, you shot well, etc. the loser has a fit to be tied moment calling people a-hole and the rest. how do you handle these types of personalitys in your areas.

Paul,as you know we take them out back & shoot them but that has stoped only at the request of the pool room owner.The lack of buisness & the rank smell according to him will only bring prying eyes upon the card games & poker machines both of which is 90% of the gross,so for all future slayings & body stashing we muse use the back of the chinese carryout a block away,as the owner stated to you & i that its a win-win deal as we get a 30% discount on all meat dishes there & free refills on fountain drinks.
you can take them back to wal-mart where they were raised and they will calm right done.the pool room has to much reality.cheap trinkets is the trick.

I took a road trip to Kansas city this spring and met up with a fellow AZer to play some one pocket. After the first game which I won I suggested we try a game that I had come up with years ago called http://einstein-nine.com/.
For the first few games we played even and after that he showed me what one pocket was all about and kicked my a$$ for the next 4 hours.
To be killed playing a game I had played for years by someone who had just started had me looking for excuses.
It was not long before it dawned on me that he was a much better player then I was and I was alright with that. I had done nothing wrong that day and am looking forward to a rematch:grin:.

Often I hear, "I wasn't playing very well tonight".

No one like LOOSING, some have even been know to EXPLODE, and destroy a perfectly Good Cue in the process!
Some people don't know the difference between loser and looser.
you would think out of the hundreds of times that it has been explained on here, people would actually change to reflect the correct spelling.
Especially since it's a word that is very commonly used in the pool world.
I see threads where it's explained very clearly, what lose means and what loose means, and the person who made the error responded to the person pointing it out, and STILL continues to use the incorrect spelling.
Now that boggles the mind.
:grin:There's a big difference between someone nit picking on words here and there, it's a whole different story when someone is trying to help someone actually spell a extremely common word in the pool world.
Break the rack, or brake the rack?
Lose the game, or loose the game?
Cheat the pocket, or cheet the pocket?
Chalk your cue or chock your cue?
Win a game or when a game?
Play on a table or play on a tabel?
hehe.... like I say it's not about nit picking... just some common sense when it comes to popular words that you see thousands of times in the pool world. Why wouldn't you want to spell them correctly?
Oh, and I don't like to loose, so I blame the other guy.... it makes me feal better.:grin:
Showing people the errors in their writing when done in a non demeaning way can have an effect, I should know it happened to me a few years ago right here on this forum. In fact the words were lose and loose. I was embarrassed but I was also more careful next time.:wink:
After hearing more excuses than I can count, its easy to come to the conclusion that most people have to pass the blame on their poor ability, choke factor, saveing face issue's etc onto someone else to make themselves feel better or look better in the eye's of other's. League players are the absolute worst one's of all when it come to being a sore loser and makeing excuses. If you looked up the word excuse in a new dictionary you would find APA and legue player somewhere in the definition. After seeing years of this it seems as though the excuses vary from the difficulty of the league. The APA ones are always the best because no matter what its usually " I played a 4 that played like a 7 " or " they got all the roll's and I got none ". They just started a TAP league in this area and just the simple fact that it is call pocket makes a difference. When you get into the VNEA and BCA you hear far less people blaming other's for their loss. I always find it funny when people talk about getting a bad roll when they are shooting. People do not realize that 99% of what they consider a bad roll is actually a bad shot. The cue ball getting kissed in a pocket on the break is a bad roll and faulty equipment causing the cue ball or object ball's to stray from their intended path is a bad roll. I suppose that when your opponent leaves you kicking, jumping or frozen to a ball that was not intentional, you would be considered on the receiving end of a bad roll but its all in how you look at it. Executing a shot and getting bad shape, scratching or anything else is not a bad roll.

The only time your going to hear me whine is the rare occasions when I lose my mind and get in the box with a NIT or a CLOWN.
Its always over them wanting the world for $5 while I got to play like my life depends on it.
Never was much good at the match up game, but I'll try and outrun just about anything......
One of the first White Diamond tourneys I went to I was hitting a few balls and had just won a little bit playing 4 handed 10 ball $10 & $20 on the 5 and 10 respectfully and $5 for the let out....we didn't play for long I just got out on the tripple shimmed 9ft' for a handful of racks and everyone quit.
So I'm hitting balls on the 8ft....some schmoe comes up to me and asks me if I want to play....he had just gotten there and didn't know me or how I played.
He asks me to play 9 ball and then asks what I'm giving up.
THE call 7, says I
He says; man you just give the 7 to anyone you havent met?
I told him, SURE why not? just smiling the whole time lol
I win a few off the guy and he quits too.
Then I get in the box with Al Mason.......(old hustler from TX)
He's won a few of the fast eddies tour stops and we decide to play a set of 9 ball on the box.
He's slamming drinks, I'm slamming them......he's getting loud, and obnoxious.....I'm just chilling waiting, kinda playing "to" him.....letting his mind get all fuzzy over the good time he's having.
We played a race to 7 he wins the 1st rack and then I take the next 2.....on the third rack I missed an easy shot on the 5 and he makes this comment to the effect of;
"oh come on I know you play better than that, I want ya to win kid, you really had that shot.....BLA BLA BLA"
trying to rattle my cage ya know....it really pissed me off tho with his seemingly nice remarks but condescending undertone.....
I mean you guys know that drill right? What they call that shake, rattle and roll?
I get back to the table and I run the set.......shoved that sh*t eating grin of his where the sun don't shine.
Now he wants to play a game of One Pocket for the stake.......

Thats the biggest problem I have with a local tournament.....I have to play basically every player (except the guy I taught) in the joint 5-2 or 5-3 ALL OF THEM. Dusty is the only player I've ever played even in it, that is a regular. (Me and supafly jimmy did play it together once and he got me 5-3 or 5-4 i believe....but he's the only other person ever to be even with me in that one tourney)
Its 10 to enter open table, 8 ball APA rules SINGLE ELIMINATION!
Like this past thursday.....
First match I have to go 5-3......I win 5-1
Second Match I have to go 5-2.....I win 5-1 (lost the second game)
Third Match I have to go 5-2......I lose 2-0
Now if that tournament was Double elimination? I'd probably have to stop playing in it as I'd most likely win the dam thing every week. paul i know just who ur talking about,look at his past record he only wins about 1 out of 10 tries,when it comes to playing pool for money he is just a loser,sucker,which is great for our poolroom.when a man beats me its usually because he made more 9 balls then me,ill never say a guy beat me because i played bad,ill say he just played better!but when u have a person that thinks they player better than they do,they cant accept losing so they will never say they played good and lost,because than they will sound like the sucker they are.

Some folks do accept that they made mistakes and lost or that their opponent just played really good pool.
Then there are some folks have really huge but weak egos that can't withstand the thought that they could have been beaten fair and square either because they just plain screwed it up or because their opponent shot lights out pool.
