So you want to know what Jack Justis is really like?

I e-mailed him this morning, Finally my beloved 15 year old Justis case lid strap broke after years of abuse. This is my daily player case, so it's well used. I e-mailed Jack to ask him if he could fix it.

To my surprise, Jack called me up. He said "maybe I can just make you a new lid".

I said "no Jack, I like my old lid, I just want to have the strap fixed."

He said "mail me the lid and I'll set you up. I'll try to save the lid. Or I'll make you a new one just like it."

I said "how much?"

He said "nothing. I guarantee my cases for life".

I said "Jack I feel bad. The case is old and I've abused it. No strap would hold up forever - I carry it by the lid handle a lot!".

He said " no - it's not your fault. it was probably just a bad strap. "

I said "Jack, if you guarantee your cases for life, how many cases have you had to fix?"

He said "maybe six".

I said " a month?"

He said " no, altogether, maybe 6 cases in 20 years. My cases hold up a long time. That's why I can guarantee them for life".

We talked for at least an hour. We had a lot of laughs. What a great guy. I asked him if I could send postage money,. He refused to accept any payment. No wonder he's booked up for awhile.

It doesn't surprise me Chris.
I talked to him for quite a while in Las Vegas last May.
Very nice man.
I referred to the metal ring on the bottom of my Justis cases as the brass hubcap and he laughed...."never heard it called that before"

This is good info, I may start carrying my case by the top handle now.

Very nice post Chris. Jack is absolutely a world class gentleman and a heck of a craftsman. Did you know he used to make custom fishing poles and there has been books written using his design patterns? They are still used to this day by custom rod makers.

Jack has gone out of his way to help me in getting started in the case making business and I value his opinions and experience with the highest regards. He is definitely an inspiration and a positive role model.

LOL - he said it was designed to do it, but now I don't think I'm going to.

I really have to say, I love my Justis case. I never get tired of it and you walk into a pool room players recognize it and comment on it from across the room.

It certainly is refreshing to hear this attitude from a craftsman like Jack instead of the run around we seem to be hearing of lately.

Thanks for starting this thread Chris. The class guys like Jack don't get mentioned often enough on here. We mostly only hear about the bad eggs, but believe me there are lots of Jack Justis' out there in the pool world.

Jack actually mentioned to me that you were one of the most talented upcoming leather artists he's ever seen too. He said he was very impressed with your work. This is coming from a man who is, and has seen, the very best.

I couldn't make the cue show but I defintely want to connect up whenever you're down here or if I make a trip up there. He mentioned a case with a red haired girl - do you have any pics you can post?

Thats top notch. 15 years of heavy duty use and the case components last that long. I know companies that will stand behind their equipment long enuff until your money is in the cash register. Usually 15 minutes.
 
jack has the best customer service i have ever seen.......one of the greats as a maker and a person...truely great for the game and the players.....mickey

When I bought my case from Jack at the SBE in 94' he told me if you ever have a problem with your new case send it back and I will make it right. Now there's a man that stands behind his word. I for 1 never had to send it back. Kudo's to you Jack Justis. I also own a Swift case and got the same responce when I bought from Dennis. America at its best!!...jmho

I was thinking how my wife would dismember me in my sleep if I came home with that baby - awesome work.

I had a problem with the zipper on my old case. I posted the problem here & Jack contacted me & we talked out the problem. I sent my case to him & he remade the pouch, with a new zipper. I love my case & am always looking for a chance to say THANK YOU, to Jack for his great work. THANK YOU AGAIN JACK. Your cases are THE best...JER
 
Tate is a class act and evidently so is Jack Justis. I've never had any reason to believe otherwise and he certainly builds beautiful high quality cases that hold their value.
 
Whew!! I was hoping this thread didn't have pics of Jack in a raincoat, standing at the shopping mall. I dunno how Toots puts up with it...

Jack standing behind his cases is no big news, but was a nice story. Thanks for posting, Chris.

Jack says he has a lifetime waranty, and honors it. Good that he does as advertised. H like L.L. Bean of Freeport ME, stand behind what they sell.
 
Never met Mr. Justis nor have I owned one of works of art, but damned if I don't want to! I have heard nothing but wonderful things about his work and his the way he conducts his business.

Now, if we could just get more gentlemen like Jack to run our big banks :grin:

thats the same mr. jack justis ive known and considered a friend for the last 5 years! one of the real bright spots in pro pool! :thumbup:
