MIA - AZ Missing in Action List

9 Ball Girl (Wendy) and CarolNYC (Carol Clark), two very nice ladies who used to post on here frequently, as well as Billiards Digest forum.

Both are lovely people who never had anything negative to say about anyone.

Their enthusiasm and love for pool was infectious. I always enjoyed their company on the rail and on this forum. Hope they're doing well! :)

Whatever happened to VAPoolplayer; I think that you knew him and he was serious aobut his game?

Since you mentioned BD's forum, whatever happened to Brian. I can't remember his last name but his posts kind of reminded me of SJM's in that they were always well reasoned and logical without emotion.

Donovan was a guy I went to college with. Haven't seen him on here for years.

Also Timberly. I met her once at Jeeves party at the SBE.

Tim's alive and well at Jimbo's forum.

I also remember Wendy (9 Ball Girl) very well from Billiards Digest and here. I seem to recall she was going to quit the game for awhile.

There was this guy, Bolo, on Billiards Digest. He knew a lot and was a cue maker and obviously a good player. He was very direct and a little controversial. I wonder if he ever posted here? I always wanted to meet him.

Bval always seemed like a pretty cool dude....apologies, didn't read every post, he might have already been mentioned...

For awhile there, I thought you were M.I.A. - good to see you posting, Koop.

Thanks buddy. I guess it kind of has to do with what Fred said before about covering everything after a while. You run out of things to say :)

Don't know about them, but rehashing the same topics over and over again can get old. I don't post or read the forums half as much as I used to. I'd rather be practicing than posting or reading about the best tip, case, ld shaft, table, or cue over and over again

Some posters think it's a pain in the butt to keep answering the same questions over and over again and will just tell a newbie to google it or look up
a post on the subject from 2 years ago. But this is a talk forum, not Google
or Wikipedia. It's as close to face to face as most of us will ever get to this level of expertise from top notch players and teachers.

That's what you guys are. Teachers, facing a new class every year, trying to teach the same lessons over and over and answering the same question every year.

I want to talk to Jay or Tate or Jam or Nikon or Fatboy or Terry or maybe even Billy or Keith or a multitude of teaching pros. How cool is that. To ask Jay a question and have him answer you personally.

And ,gee! The questions are all about the same general thing. Billiard Sports. What a surprise.

I personally want to thank all of you guys who have helped me in the past and I hope you never get tired of it and keep it up for the new guys.:clapping:

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!

When I told a friend of mine Robin Dodson answered a question for me here, he couldn't believe it. He's one who doesn't want to bother with all this internet crap... He does come lurking a little bit now and then, after hearing my story.

It's so cool that so many movers and shakers in the pool world participate here. And it's cool that most of them don't have a problem answering questions they must have answered a couple thousand times before.

And one other thing... recommending (or more emphatically "suggesting") the use of the search function is all well and good, but it isn't as discerning as one might like. Sure, if you have a loooong time to dig thru hundreds of posts on a subject you might find the answer you're looking for. Key word there is might. But think how discouraging it must be for new visitors here who finally get up the nerve to ask a question, only to be told, rather bluntly, "use the damned search function. It's what it's there for!"

end rant/

Thanks again, to everyone who participates here. This place is pretty awesome.

It always puzzles me when somebody just disappears for awhile.

I was wondering where FTGOKIE went - Shawn, who was a real character and a prolific poster. He ran that whole cue test program and was going to start his own pool room.

So I shot him a PM and no response. His last post was November 8, 2010, trying to trade a time share.

Who else has disappeared. Who else do you miss?

Chris

Hey everybody, I just heard from our old buddy Mr. FtGokie.

Shawn is just on vacation and plans to be coming back rejuvenated. Just as soon as he has time to do that, he will take the AZ mic and say a few words to his admiring audience!

Chris

Ps. And for those of you who want to see my JW by Bill Stroud, below is a pic. I like it. pink ivory, ebony, ivory joint and butt, razor sharp, super thin holly veneers. That's a Tiger stack wrap and i use the Tiger Pro X shaft.

JDB...You're talking about Brian from VA...aka Brian Keller. He still posts, on BD and here. He's just been busy.

Hi, Scott! I think that's a different Virginia player. The person JDB is speaking
about is a young man who had a whole lot of enthusiasm about pool when I first
met him, about 2003-2004 era. He traveled to Tennessee and took lessons from
Jimmy Reid, and he also drove up each week to New York City to get some lessons
from Tony Robles. He lived in Richmond, Virginia, for a spell.

I think -- and I may be wrong -- he lost his heart to a local Southern belle in Richmond,
and he ended up with a broken heart. I have not heard from him since.

That's VApoolplayer depicted on the right at the 2005 Virginia State 9-Ball Championship,
which happened to have been won by the player on the left.

How about Colin Colenso. His last post was on 07-03-2010. He was one of the only AZ members that I have met in person. It was at the IPT 8-ball event in Vegas. He always had a lot of good and thoughtful posts.

Yeah, I wondered about Colin myself.

Another nice poster was Donovan. I don't seem him on here. Must be chugging the train on down the track.

I never cared much for that Tramp Steamer fellow. A bit of a cad and a bounder, if you ask me. Allways trying to pawn his neice off onto some unsuspecting young pool player. And, his unabiding fixation with elephant excrement. Simply outrageous.
If I ever see him again I'm going to give him a piece of my mind, I can tell you.

That anal fellow you speak of has been back for at least a couple of days.

JAM - Thanks, you are right that is who I was talking about from Virginia; VAPoolplayer. And Black-Balled had sent me a PM indicating that he thought he may have given up pool. Thanks for the additional information(Thanks BB, too)

The other person I referenced, was Brian, who I now remember was from Atlanta. I also remember his last name and that he had moved from Atlanta to New Jersey, but never really heard about whether he still plays or not. In fact, his screen name at BDC may have been BB, not Brian.

I used to see his name pop up on the local regional tournament listings in Atlanta but have not seen it pop up on the NE Regional Tours.
