Who was or is, past or present the best pool playing cuemaker

How could I forget, Mr. Guylassy a two time Mosconi cup player and a World Back Pocket 9 ball Champion.

If anyone has ever played with a Bobby Hunter cue, they know that is a top of the line personalized cue. From the bottom of his line to the most extravagant, I would take a Hunter for it's ability to use in all games. Then he is also quite the player. I am particle to voting for him because he is also so personable. I owned one once but like the dumbell I am, I sold it. If I only played well enough to own one of his cues again.:D My vote, Hunter but I do believe it's splitting hairs between any of personalized cue maker/players.

Uhhhh Hasn't Dennis Searing ran like 18 racks from the pop? I hear hes a pretty dam good player, and i also hear his cues aint too shabby.......

I'd have to say TIE b/t Bobby Hunter and Dennis Searing as bobby plays better and dennis does more precise work.......it equals out imop.

I always heard that Balabuska played a mean game of straight pool as well.

When I lived in South Carolina in the 80's I heard alot about two players,Tony Ellin and Dennis Searing.Searing played world class pool and now makes world class cues.

I have heard of Mike Siegel cues, but I guess I thought it was a line of cues he sells or represents. Does he actually turn cues on a lathe? Enlighten me.

He worked with Dan Janes, then partnered with Varner, so he can make a cue.

I would like to hear Bill Stroud's opinion. They used to have a cue makers tournament years ago, I believe he won a few.

Sigel has won over 102 major pool tournaments, including three US Open Nine-ball Championship tournaments and five world pocket billiard championship titles. Sigel was named "Player of the Year" three times by Billiards Digest and Pool and Billiards, pool industry trade magazines, and in 1989, at the age of 35, he was the youngest ever to be inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame.

I think Willie Mosconi designed a cue for Mickey Mantle...I'll bet that makes him the best cue maker player ever!

Sigel, but, is he a cuemaker??

Stroud and Searing in a photo finish to place

There are many that come to Mind, but in my opinion it may have been one of the following.

Bill Schick

Bill Stroud

I talked to Bill Stroud a little while ago...he's retiring from building cues this year....and going BACk to playing pool full time:grin:

Have you guys played with a Lomax Cue? Try playing Steve Lomax!

Steve Lomax,
Makes great Cues and plays, when he was a player, great pool! Now he is going to return to playing pool as well as still making cues, hand made from several different pieces of fine wood! Larry Nevel shoots with Lomax cues.... And several more good players use Lomax cues! Lock N Load is going to give Larry Nevel what he asked for the last time I saw him, the 7 and the last 2. And we are going to play some great 9 ball!!

Lock N Load.

Sigel is the least skilled cuemaker out of all the guys mentioned and his attitude doesn't help him sell either..........I always see many for sale never see anyone with one.

He plays at the top but his cues are by no means where hunters and searings are.......searing may not have the championships but he's a top flight player and his cues get the money from anyone and I know Sigel doesn't have an 8 yr wait list that costs what 5k min?

Game, set, match my buttstock!

Bobby, Mike G, Dennis Searing, Joe Gold all very high level players that build the highest level of cues and collectors really want their cues while no one is praying to god they won the lottery to purchase a sigel..........

to the back of the short list with Mr Sigel.

PS: by the way the mosconi to Mantle cue was COMMISSIONED by willie for mickey Mosconi did not do anything to the cue...........he had FRANK PARADISE make it.
