Not to hijack this thread, and I know there have been many discussions on this topic in the past, but why do full splice cues hit so well ? I have an ebony sneaky by Paul Dayton. It has a Moori Medium, and an ivory ferrule, a much better than average shaft (if not magnificent), a wood to wood joint with a phenolic collar and a radial pin. That cue hits stiff, but not like a thick old bar cue. Just the perfect amount of feedback. You couldn't pry it out of my hands with a crowbar ! I wouldn't take a $300 profit on the cue because I don't even know if Paul can make another that nice. Paul's taper is splendiferous ! I had a few custom rings so mine cost a little more than your budget allows, but I can't recommend Paul Dayton's cues playability enough...Tom
P.S. It hits better than my JossWest, Jensen, Hill, Rauenzahn, Dayton 4 pt cue, Olneys, Meucci, and Frey sneaky. How's that for testimony ?
