Shane IS the best US player

Archer is still Archer.
Player of the 90s and now, 20 years later, he plays even better.
Any questions :p

How the heck do you think Archer plays better now then he did in the 90's? Archer himself said in an interview that he has lost a step from his younger years when he was doing all of that winning. And from the videos I have of him back then compared to now it is hard not to agree with Archer that he is not quite at the same level he once was, he has lost alot of his aggresive style that he had at the table back then.

I make the statement without any reservations. Evidence:

1. He is bar none the best 10 ball player.
2. He is most likely the best 9 ball player.
3. There is no one else to even talk about in 8 ball.
4. He is the favorite to win any bar table event.
5. He won the DCC One Pocket and has placed in top 20 more than once.
6. He doesn't play straight pool, but I don't believe anyone under Mika, Harriman, or Schmidt want to try him any.

Please feel free to say I'm an idiot, but then explain why your player will not play Shane even at anything other than their one game of choice. I don't believe any American player is favorite over Shane in more than one of the games listed above and he would be favorite in 6 out of 6 over all but a couple players in their favorite discipline (ex: Frost in 1p, Schmidt in straight pool).

Edit: I am writing this because of a discussion about Shane/Johnny. It is my feeling after playing on this tight table that Shane should just go play Johnny in his room and take off anyone who is willing to bet.

The only question I've got is, "Is he going to be at the White Diamonds Chris Miller extravaganza in Lafayette, LA in two weeks?" If he wins that one, I'll give him the bar table crown. :D

I dont think he needs to prove himself anywhere on a barbox. Last time in Reno proved that.

I talked to him after the match last night and he said he was planning on enjoying some time at home till the Open. Sounds like he is going to be super busy again after that.

I dunno who would win. (Johnny vs SVB) But I am damn sure that it is one of the few match-ups I would pay to watch live. I hope TAR will make a race to 100 for them.

I don't think Archer will ever agree to it. He's already trying to bend the everything in his favor so that already tells you how he's feeling about his chances.

That said though, I think, and you can quote me on this, that if shane got comfortable and loose vs Archer you'd probably see a 9 or 10 pack.

Archer's not gonna fade that IMHO

7. He actually plays long races for big cash against the game's best.

This alone puts him above many of the "top" Euro guys in my book.

i would prolly say that if u take the winenrs from reno n put them into the white diamonds tourney //.......... they prolly wont win

There are no American players that want to play Shane in a long challenge match. They would prefer to have him as their partner. Perhaps there's your answer. Shane has to find opponents internationally to play big money matches. The only American guy I see that is perhaps willing to challenge him at some point is Mike Dechaine.

he was the better player last weekend yes. but it wasnt a blowout. could have went the other way. he is better at the long matches mainly because of his age, remember your youth ? wish i could do half of what i use to.

Thanks!. I heard a rumor that he was headed to Lafayette,LA for that tournament. Glad to put that rumor to rest.

That $40,000 Calcutta will safe from the South Dakota Kid. You've earned a rest. Rest easy, kid.

Shane

What is it with the name Shane? The best player in my town is named Shane too! I agree that Pro Shane is a monster an a great all around player and I would love to see him play anyone at anytime. The Shane from my town is a great all around player as well. So I guess if I have a kid and want him to play pool I should name him Shane? MMMMMM

Any 9 ball tournament they play in with a race longer than 5, Shane will be the favorite.

Didn't Earl take Shane to the cleaners in a long set of 10 ball?

I'm not sure if clothes were involved but earl beat shane on a gaffed up 5 X 10 after Shane ate earl's lunch previously on a 9 Ft. diamond that i am pretty sure was a legit playing table. I also believe there was a stip that the loser of the 10 foot table match would get the option to play a rematch on a 4 1/2 X 9. Those who are far more in the know then me would probably be able to give you an update on where and when the trilogy will be played out.

If Johnny played rack your own 9 Ball back in the mid to late 90's with the magic rack - he would have been running 20 packs! I really believe this too :)

I agree with you. Johnny's top gear was above where Shane is now. I remember when it was reported Parica offered the 8 to everybody "except for him" (pointing at Johnny). Archer was playing the worlds best 9 ball for quite some time.
