Green or Blue Cloth

So, you are saying age has something to do with the color you like?

Pretty much. If you're over 50 then tables were predominantly green throughout most of your playing days and this will typically be considered the "standard" color. If you started playing pool within the last 20 years blue has been more prevalent or at least more commonplace than it was prior.

Pool Tables are green.

Not any more, blue has taken over, easier on the eyes(the longer u play),i always played on green, when i went to my first dcc,i then played on blue for the first time, what a difference, not as much shadows and my eyes felt much more at ease looking at the blue allday.

Yeah this has been asked before and alot of people prefer the blue. For me though it is green all the way. The same green used on for most snooker and that closely matches the color of nice green grass.

I wonder how come I never get requests to install the Simonis 860 Green, well...maybe 1 out of a 100, if that. All the cloth I install is the Simonis 860HR Tour Blue:cool:

Because you have never bothererd to come up north of the border to Calgary and fix my Gold Crown. All I get is seeing pics of "other" peoples awesome table renos... :(

From a shooting perspective, the best choice would be the easiest color on the eyes that doesn't also conflict with any ball color. Example, shooting the 8-ball on black cloth... uh, where is the 8-ball? Oh yeah, ya gotta look for the arc of light to find it. So, even if I am a "green" fan, the depth of hue is relavent. From a decor point of view, tan cloth on natural wood tables has neutrality allowing it to combine nicely with just about any room, and green, not so oddly, has a similar result.

Blue??? It's all the rage in most pool halls, and brightens even the dreeryiest of hole-in-the-wall rooms (you know, the kind that one could stick to any of the walls or furniture or their shag carpeting), but I wouldn't have blue in my house... I'll never paint my billiard room walls any shade of blue, complementary or not. Having said that, it is good to note there aren't any light-blue billiard balls in a typical rack or pool room. The other down side of lighter colors is simply that they would be easier to mark up or stain (read that as "more noticeable").

Final note... Green is good. Simonis Green, or English Green... and speaking of cloth... is there a UV protectant in Simonis cloth?

Yes, there is:grin:

It ain't easier on my eyes.

Mine either I don't mind blue , but i think it would get on my nerves after a while. To bright. I like green better . I think light colored rail caps frame the playing surface better , defines it better . Played on one Valley that had the tan/blonde color and blue cloth. , seemed to make things easier to see. I think it is just a preference for each individual.

Back ground light , and the table light itself would be a factor . Is there a patent on the Simonis blue on Diamonds ? The other manufacturers shades of blue aren't as good to me .

Green is for golf.

Blue is for pool.

If your pool is green you shouldn't swim in it.

A clean pool looks blue.
