Proposition for those interested in BHE...

Hi Jaden, I'm just starting to dable in BHE and I'm interested in your work for us to view when you get it ready.

I have been using parallel english for the life of my game but realize it's shortcomings.

I try to impart only enough english that's needed, but for some of the firmer hits I find the parallel way leaves me out in left field.

Thanks

seems like a lot of effort to prove that an aiming system works to others. I used to drive myself insane trying to convince people to change what they were doing wrong, now I realize the only sane thing to do is not care what they think.

In fact I went down to the poolhall two days ago in my wife's pink robe and played for three hours in it to prove how little I care what other's think.

Something tells me you don't play at Gold Crown Billiards in Erie, PA.

HEy guys...

Unfortunately I didn't record the demonstration.

If you guys would like, I'll do another stream today as a repeat. I don't know if someone else would like me to call them up to have them direct me on the shots and english to use once I'm down on the shot again...

Let me know and I'll do it later this afternoon to give more people a chance to watch. I didn't really give much notice yesterday that I was doing it.

Jaden

If I do it again today, I'll archive it and make it available for anyone to watch..

If we do it again today, I'll save it and archive it so anyone can watch it anytime...

Jaden

p.s. I think yesterday we had a total of 36 viewers...

I did an experiment similar to the one you did. My description of it starts on page 9 of this collection of articles: http://www.sfbilliards.com/articles/cols2011r.pdf

I was particularly worried about letting my subconscious adjustments enter in, so in my tests the positions of the balls and my bridge were all forced by fixturing. I'd estimate that the balls were returned to the same positions for each shot within less than 1/10 mm and my bridge was in the same position within half a millimeter. I think it is very important to get that kind of repeatability if you want to draw any useful conditions.

What sorts of precautions are you taking?

Ok let's see.

Well for most of the shots, I am lining up using my cue from CP to CP. But the main precaution that I am taking is that I am not choosing the English until I am down on the shot. Impossible to alter anything.

If someone else is telling me what English to use once I'm down on the shot and it's obvious from watching that I am not changing my bridge position, it would be virtually impossible for me to be altering my aimline for a specific type of spin. I am simply pivoting and lowering/elevating my bridge.

Jaden

The stream is actually up and running while I am doing some tests right now.

Same link as yesterday.

I would like to see a long straight in shot and have the cue ball stop and spin in place after it hits the object ball. A measles cue ball would be best.

FYI, there are numerous video demonstrations and articles dealing with BHE here:

Enjoy, and good luck,

Actually, I think most people have enough play in the shape of their fingers that significant adjustments can be made. I think that if you used a mechanical bridge (or a "bridge board" like I used in my experiments) that you would be less open to criticism.

My results were very different in character from your results.

Jesse are you sure you just didn't have a "Ric Flair" moment...you know "To Be The Man you got to "Beat the Man" (in a pink robe in your case) :) Merry Christmas :)

I came up with a test to show that no manual adjustment is necessary for BHE to work.

What I would do is set up a live stream of my table. Someone would call me on the phone and I'll put them on speaker.

I will get in line with the shot having NO IDEA whatsoever what english I will put on the ball, high inside, low outside whatever...

The person on the phone will tell me what english to put on the ball AFTER I am lined up and down on the shot.

Then I will pivot over and shoot the shot.

I'll do it for long shots and close shots and will repeat shots putting different english on them whatever the caller decides.

If I get at least five replies for people who would like to see this done I'll set up and do it.

Jaden

I love this. This is how I played the game when I first started and got my ass chewed until I did it by the book lol. Happy holidays!

the pool hall owner did say "I can beat anyone wearing a pink robe." haha I was going to see if I got more action wearing it than normal and wear it to the pool hall for a week, but it's pretty hot shooting pool in a robe, not sure how long I would last.

Jaden:

Not to be too critical :) but you are moving all over the place while stroking, then you stand up on your final stroke.

I didn't have a set time the second day and I was just screwing around...

I didn't record the first day which is the ONLY time that I was doing the demonstration.

The other times I was just screwing around messing with settings on the stream and checking upload resolutions etc...

The recording that is there again was just to test the record feature as I was having difficulties recording and streaming through the program wirecast.

Ask someone that watched the first day how it was going, or we can schedule a second official time to do it where we have someone call in or me call someone to have them direct me to shoot certain shots and spins like we did the first day.

Jaden

p.s I had people in the chat on the first day asking if I EVER miss...
