dear sir ?

Dear Sir/ Mr nOrisc,
As someone who used to play around with streaming a little bit ,may I ask how you propose to bring live,hd, content when the bandwith is lacking on the sending side. Your page and servers may be high end but what happens when the streamer out in the field only has a low end DSL upstream to you ?
In the past the only way this could of been avoided was to make plans ahead of time and get the room or streamer to pay for a better upload rate to be available.Having spent alot of time dreaming and planning this out myself the only thing I could come up with to assure a "true" HD stream in 1080i or beyond would of been something like the rig below with a dedicated server to send to much like what you are proposing .Believe it or not my delusions of grandure kept me out on the road for over 18 months and I had a great time ,met alot of great folks, learned a few tips from the pros and got a little closer to figuring out what it was I really liked doing .I priced a couple used rigs like the one pictured and have friends in the broadcasting business who really worked with me and pointed me in the right direction on some issues.
Hope this works out for you and you get a little more support than I did back then . It's hard to get sponsors but maybe some of the guys like TAR ,Big Truck , and Lenny that stuck with it have loosened up the ground more than it was then .
Try not to listen to the haters and do your best to live and let live. I used to argue with another streamer on here and now feel sorta foolish for doing it .It really did not matter if I was right or wrong ,as a wise man once told me "being right is no excuse for bad behavior" .Well I just noticed this post and that you started off sorta off key with a few folks .From experience I can tell you , it really ain't worth it to argue on these forums or have any bad vibes going on . Do what you want to do and let your work speak for itself . Hope it all rolls your way .

Of course from our end initially we could not fix that delimiting factor. That's not to say that the room owner would want to join the onsitepool.com network. If the action and content that could be generated from that pool room on a daily basis would warrant better internet, then I'm sure that could be arranged. In fact the sponsors would demand it.

That is awesome! There are many like you that want to take to the road into these unknown places or known places and stream some great action. I wish the onsitepool.com network was up and fully functional, because in the very near future we want to sponsor individuals to do just that.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Maybe in the future we can get many amateur streamers out there capturing the essence of what billiards is really about.

Which right now is a complex chat program based off Internet Relay Chat (IRC), and a flash wrapper to watch content.

www.onsitepool.com will be a consolidation, in due time.

Zach.

It's just a flash based free irc program....copy and paste 4 or 5 lines of code and set up a channel and your ready to rock and roll.

Complex?

Personally, I think the pool audience likes a more GUI type interface, rather then a standard IRC interface.

Honestly, I'm a liar.

I don't trust people who don't drink. And if they don't drink and think Marty Herman is "open minded", I very much don't trust them.

Well the insertion of embed code is not complex. Not at all.

Our own ircd will be rather complex to handle the degree of how we want to moderate specific channels relative to the content at hand. It will also transform lightirc into a more user friendly chat environment. It's something that won't have to be hand coded from scratch which can lead to a slew of security vulnerabilities. Ratbox ircd w/ nickserv/chanserv is very secure. It will also enable us to keep a keen eye on potential threats to our members.

lightirc is the best I've seen so far a flash IRC client. This will really reduce the burden server side in which unstream/livestream/justin.tv have had numerous issues with in the past.

I'm deeply saddened that you feel this way. I'm extremely excited that I've been able to abstain from alcohol. It has changed my life.

I respect everyone's opinion. If that makes you uncomfortable that is something out of my hands.

Do you have something to contribute to the thread?

So far I'm not really a fan of what n0risc is saying... and you're certainly entitled to your opinion, Cleary... but your comment above was a pretty $h!tty thing to say...

Oi Vey <sigh>

Oi vey? Personal associations are one thing, business associations are entirely another..... If you personally want to associate TVMike or Marty Herman it won't effect your personal life much. Associating those two with your business presence is ludicrous. If you're mad at your money, have at it.

I understand what you are saying, and You and I have talked about it personally. Here is the situation though.

In business you cannot be prejudice nor create favoritism. Those practices over the long haul end up in epic FAIL. It invalidates the true meaning of business. As soon as you make your business personal you open yourself up to ridicule which will eat you and the business to the core.

Now it's entirely different if the situation at hand will physically hurt you, that's different.

Changing your business model completely around based on situations where no one is right and no one is wrong. Is stupid. Did someone get hustled? Wow? What a surprise. We're in the world of pool. Happens everyday. Would that hinder the success of a business? Probably not. There are bigger fish to fry. There are bigger problems elsewhere.

I think many of you are etirely missing the entire point of onsitepool.com, the network, and what it will create for the entire billiard industry.

Of course the latter streaming sites have a great concept and provide a seamless service. But it's not billiard friendly. It's like having a pool tournament on the beach. As hard as the best streamers out there try to adapt to the universal properties of those sites, they are left in the dust when it comes to the back-end potential for revenue. The money has gotta come from somewhere. Guess where it's coming from?

I know I may to straying of the subject about TvMike and Marty Herman. If they create content for the billiard industry through the onsitepool.com network, and whether or not their opinions and styles are unpopular, then I would doing my business a disservice to say they can't use it.

onsitepool.com will not, and will not ever, be prejudice, within reason. I mean, you know like, convicted of serious crimes, child molesters, etc, etc,. There are plenty of those in our industry, but we won't mention names.

Just because someone is an a**hole, a piece of worthless Sh8T, caught up in bad dealings, made a mistake, won't admit the mistake, is a hustler, does not constitute anything, really. And for sure any beefs on AzBilliards, for that matter, won't dictate the nature of onsitepool.com's business either.

I'm over the bullsh8t. I have been for a long time. I've moved on! I've done a bunch for the local billiard scene in Columbus, Ohio on a professional level. I'm not going to do anything different on AzBilliards, and for sure with onsitepool.com. I've been completely professional and tactful in this thread.

Thats just what I want to hear from someone who expects me to hand them the advertising rights to my content and brand.

Sure, I have something to contribute. I think you're drawing dead. You're not offering anything better than commercial sites. Even if you did, you've made the worst first impression ever and shown your ability to go full crazy. Nobody wants to work with that unless they are crazy themselves. Herman and TVMike sound like a perfect fit for you. Streaming for nobody to see... If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to watch it, did it make a sound? If TVMike streams pool and nobody watches it, did it even happen?

And the drinking thing, that was more or less a joke. But on the real, if you cannot handle yourself as an adult, it really makes me wonder about your character and self control. Some people SHOULDN'T drink. They cannot handle it or themselves and it becomes a problem in their lives. I'm glad you have sobered up.

As a consumer there are two things I would like to see one day for pool. Whether it happens or not due to money or technology limitiations, I would love it.

1. I want a pool site up that is like beeg.com. This is porn site so dont look at work. That format would be great for pool reruns of old matches. It would also have the search categories for different games, venues, and events.

2. When someone puts on a tournament I would like to see a page formated similiar as above using 9 grid squares like the Brady Bunch. In the middle it would be the chat room and the outside squares would be tourney matches with one static camera. Commentating could remain at a feature table. As tournament winds down to less then 8 tables shrink the squares and use one for the commentating booth.

Good luck with what your trying to accomplish.

I would argue the use of the word amateur in the same sentence or post with a thread related to myself and any type of video or electronic/computer equipment BUT I was once told that an Expert was just a little drip under pressure.

Justin, I don't expect you to just hand over rights to advertising, and most certainly not your brand. Your brand is ultra beneficial to the billiard community. I'm extremely grateful that it exists, and you guys to an exemplary job. The onsitepool.com Network would give the Tarshow an avenue in which to provide a streaming service with exclusive billiard content. I do not think Ustream or any other latter streaming service for the large consensus in my opinion, is drawing new viewers to an extent where it would be a bad decision to move to a different service. I don't think it is even as good as 90% existing / 10% new. Is Ustream doing advertising for the TarShow on your behalf?

Zach when you find yourself standing in a hole the prudent course of action is to stop digging.

I know. It's saddening that holes are dug here. The funny part is, I'm not using the shovel. The holes here are already dug. A single individual would never have a chance against the ridicule here, hence the reasoning why it will prove what onsitepool.com will not do to individuals with dreams and passionate intentions.

Justin. If you would like to throw a stream at our servers when you're not busy, it would be super beneficial to us to see how the server reacts to a 300+ crowd. I could do it for our cost. The onsitepool.com servers are very close to the backbone. It's a drop in the bucket compared to what it costs currently. Just a thought.

Thanks.

Zach.
