i bought a titlist and 2 high run butterfly splice cues from a guy in texas. it might have been the first time he ever shipped cues as the package left something to be desired. but as you can see in the 1st photo the employes at the postoffice were able to get the mail truck tire right on the area marked ' fragile '. 2nd photo looks like a forklift drove it straight into the wall.
but believe it or not all three cues were unharmed.

The U S Mail & the other carriers of mail employ folks that really don't care if your stuff gets there or not.

I always insure my stuff for twice it's value & I always feel lucky when it gets there.

Glad your cues were unharmed.
 
I keep picturing the beginning of the movie Ace Ventura, Pet Detective where he poses as a ups delivery man delivering a box to this guy in an apartment building, the whole way there he is kicking it down the hall way and getting it stuck between the elevator doors!

Glad to hear your cues are okay though.
 
I've had a box or two come to my front porch looking just like yours. Like you, luckily my cues were undamaged too. I imagine that the postal/UPS/FedEX workers than handle the packages in the various stages of shipping move packages so fast that they never even notice the word "fragile" is written on the box. They just move stuff from point A to point B as fast as they can toss them.

I had to send a expensive cue over seas with only 250.00 insurance.

This is not my normal shipping containers , but what is the cost when the cue gets destroyed.

My suggestion for high value merchandise is registered mail. It gets handled separately from the rest of the mail.
 
always remember that the employees of the postal service are sometime blame too much
the processing of packages are done by mechanical sortation. So each sender must be very cautious and must package the item according to its worth. so if you are mailing something that is valuable then its up to you the sender to take proper care of the package. we have been shipping cues all the time and we have learn the hardway. we have been packaging it with a pvc pipe and we have never had problem since. so to all az'r it does not cost much to get a pvc and let the reciever to send it back the same way. hope this help and avoid future problem

I agree that the sender should take precautions but that does not mean the shipping company should be let off the hook. If there "sortation" (that word cracks me up btw) methods are damaging peoples belongings then they should take measures to fix that.
 
I wish the USPS would make their triangle shipping tubes as strong as the FedEx ones. Seems like every time I get a new order of their tubes in they are getting lighter and lighter in weight.

I sent a expencive cue to Michigan from Seattle , Prority in a PVC tube . Someone at the P.O. decided they needed to look inside , all the wrapping material was NOT replaced , the cue was received with damage , and the BS you have to go thru to get anyone that gives a sh-- is unbelivable . I think if I could fog a mirror I could get a job with the P.O. Jim

Yeah I thought you had to pass a test to work at the USPS. A freind of mine who works for them as a part time deliverer said that reported a 5 billion dollar loss last quarter, go figure.

Not sure if that figure is accurate or not though. It's hard to believe it would be that high.

Yep, there is a 5 billion dollar loss but it isn't because of the post office. It is a requirement that congress decided to impose on the PO that they had to fully fund their retirees medical plans in advance so they have to come up with an extra 7 billion dollars a year to put into an account that no one else has.

As far as *****ing about shippers, I've used FedEx, UPS, and the Post Office for 20 plus years and haven't had a problem. Of course proper packing probably helped.
 
Please keep in mind when shipping.......

Best to ship a triangular or rectangular/square box instead of a tube.

The tubes can roll off of converyor belts, roll out of the trucks, etc...

I learned this the hard way!!!

Lets see then it should be a tube inside a trangle inside a square box and then it would come out damaged three times as much. I can see the guys out in the back room stomping, dropping and kicking that mutha just for the hell of it! Just kidding because I do think your advice is good!
 
I know people who sell eggs from show quality chickens to be incubated, who quit putting fragile on the outside as it seemed they always broke tham when marked.

I paid $5, so I was not surprised.

I bought it based on a fuzzy picture and it was in the background of something else for sale, I didn't know what it was but I made an offer,.... turned out to be a Viking....

But the absolute worst cue shipping job I have ever seen was by Acedonkeyace of this forum.

Pretty sure the word is not pronounced "sortshon". Wonder what web site you got that definition from....
 
If you do not use a rigid tube forgetaboutit. The PO or UPS or FEDX man handle everything. I buy 3" x 36" tubes from Staples and then place that into a rectangle carton
