Frost vs Alex - 1 Pocket Match on Monday for $40,000

It is interesting to read all of the opinions on here, some are totally clueless and others are spot on. The match is being staked on both ends, 10 hour time limit each day. 8 ahead between these two guys will not take all that long, 10 hours a day for 2-3 days I am guessing but someone could run over the other in 1 day but not very likely. Someone asked who is the last person he beat even for the cash, well that was Efren Reyes I believe in the past 2-3 times. You do not see Efren jumping up to play Frost anymore, his own words were "Scott is the best now.".

For those of you who think Alex runs balls better then Scott in one pocket are crazy, I have seen the guy run 15 and out more times then I can count, 16s, 17s, and even 18 and out all in the same day! Sure it was Dippy Dave he ran those balls against but for all of you without a clue, Dippy probably plays better then most people on the forum especially in one pocket but still got 18-4. The best player in your area who is not a pro will probably get 10-6 (and not like it) from Scott just to put it into perspective on just how good he is, the spot is an illusion when you do not get a shot and the other guy runs to his number just as easily or better then you run to your number. Alex might be a straighter shooter but he does not run the balls better, there are more to running balls in one pocket and even 14.1 then being the straighter shooter, you need to know how to run the balls also.

Is Alex the better all around player?, sure he is, he is probably the best all around player in the world right now but this is not an all around, its one pocket. I think in 8 ahead the best player will rise to the top, that is what this is all about, the best player in a long session for some serious money. If Scott plays one pocket and moves on Alex then Alex is in trouble, if they turn it into a shooting exhibition it is a coin flip. I think Scott runs ball better then Alex in one pocket, banks better but we can call that a tie too if you believe it and moves better but we are not calling that one a tie, all advantages are slight but all ad up in the end. These are just my opinions on it all though, obviously you know who I am rooting for and my opinion is backed with cash too. So all of you no betting people with opinions get in the action room and make your opinion worth something! :p

Scott does little things in one pocket that are so strong that a great player doesn't even realize it until they are playing against him. It can be difficult to pick up from off the rail.

Does he shoot as straight as Alex? Hell no.

Can he still get all the balls he needs to win? Yes.

If Scott is in the right frame of mind, I think he could win this in 8 hours. Most of the times I've watched him gamble, he is a stone cold killer.

You're right Justin that's why he tortured Whitey recently but don't you remember what happened before that? When's the last time you played Alex?

He does do things really well like leave you close to balls at awkward angles, but those are situations normal people can't fade.

Scott has more firepower. Remember what those other matches looked like on the table they're playing? I think too aggressive is gonna lose the cash this time. Also a gold crown where a lot of those banks ppl do on diamonds do not go.

I hope Scott plays a squeeze style moving game for a bit, frustrates him and then shoots his little BBs in.

Me too that's what I'm depending on. If the balls get out in the open I think the white guy is getting all the money...ALL OF IT lol.

This will be me for the whole session, POP shirt and a bottle of SJ. ;)

last night Scott told me they will play in 10 hour increments, As of last night they had not decided on what table they are going to play on, but it sounded like they where leaning toward table 6 at Hardtimes.

Which table do you think is better Chris, less funny rolls, tightness and whatnot?

It could not be said any better then this.

I just cant wait to sweat it

Whoever is putting up the cheese, would that enter into which side you would take? I'm not sure I follow.

I'd hazard a guess that both players are getting staked for this kind of dough, but I may be wrong.

Mostly out of curiosity. It's a double bagful of dough so I too would think they're backed, at least in part.

Good question though Jennie. If hypothetically one player was playing with his own and the other was staked, wouldn't someone betting lean a bit more towards the guy betting his own?

I might like your seat better then mine if you are going to be there in person, should be a hell of a match. It has been awhile since we have seen two pro players actually play for something especially in one pocket.

I don't want you to feel I'm picking on you...I enjoy discussion forums.

Not at all. You just laid out a lot of info to consider and some of it is very valid. While I still think Scott has an advantage, based on your post, maybe not as much as I presumed. Excellent info!

What did the catfish say to the trout?

The thing I like about this match is everyone is betting even which has gotten pretty rare on here lately, so the match should be great. Win or lose I am just excited to see some big money one pocket with two great players.

There's a big factor...Alex seems to be mentally fit...Scott has to be in that right frame of mind or it's gonna be a struggle.

It'll be fun to watch this and then see where we were all right and/or wrong in our assumptions and analogies!

Me too. I've been wanting to see a top player step up to take on Scott for a good bet, although 20K is more of a dream come true. I guess that's why Billy I. showed up to the Swanee.

I also thought Alex would be a favorite in the Action Room because he's more of a known commodity to the Action Room members. I was happy to see offers and takers both ways. Would love to know who's putting up what. If anybody knows, PM me. I imagine Billy is in on some of it.

I always hope Billy comes out good on this sort of thing - he always seems to be stirring up action, which is, of course, entertaining. Maybe this should have been PPV.
