A phone call ???

:wink::wink::wink::wink::wink:
Jaden I might be one of Glen's friends that you like to refer to as Nuthugger.
It's a bummer when you get to know someone in the industry and he helps connect me with others in the industry. I have met very few AZers or pro's but I know Glen and because of him I have met many others who are friends of his. For me its kinda cool to get to know a handful of folks who are into the game as much as myself.

I also follow many other players on this board and try and follow their threads because after awhile you get to know who the forum leaders are. You are one of the members who I consider a leader here but that does not make me a Jaden > Nuthugger.

It is not easy to figure out the true character of the people on a forum, it is easy for some of us to miss represent ourselves here and that does not make us a bad person.
Sometimes I think we all judge people (myself included) to quickly and it can cause guys who could of been friends to dislike one another.

Hello Glen, I have heard nothing except you do extremely good work. If you would just make a simple phone call, This thread would not be here. Good Luck with your good work. Gary Lutman

Speaking of judgement, and by no means meant to derail this valuable and informative thread about a man who is without a doubt at least one of, if not the, ultimate authorities in the world on pool tables:

In your experiences, have many of you known people that were happy with themselves that seemed to jump on every opportunity to judge others?

Just wondering what the general experience was in that regard.

OK, back to telling RKC how he could change himself to suit the ways we think he should be:

I think if RKC had any class at all, he would move to LA, so I could have him look at a Brunswick Anniversary BEFORE I buy it, and then lug it and install it and tighten and recalibrate the rails and use that super cool method of attaching the cloth and do the foldy thing he does on those flawlessly cut pockets and make it completely PERFECT.

Oh, plus charge less.

Oh, plus answer the phone when I call and anticipate my needs.

Oh, and this goes for everybody, not just RKC, the world would be a better place if everybody would just act the way I want them to (that goes for you too Jessica Alba).

Thanks

Kevin

Apparently the OP has now (as a result of this thread) gotten his $$$ back, next would be his rails so he can play POOL again after, what, 3+ months....

I was once like you;) I had the same wish and stated in much the same manner as you just did. I will be danged if it didn't happen for me. I still tip the man when he comes around just because I thought he under charged me.

Ernie Gutierrez always asks me what kind of work I want when I take a cue to him for work.

I always say, "fast and cheap"

He laughs right in my face.

Thanks

Kevin

How about "as promised"?

Is that too much to expect?

How is Ernie about him sending me out a cue after I promise to pay him and then don't pay him for a long time?

Is he okay with that?

Is he still laughing?

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been closed yet. At this point it's nothing but a giant cluster****.

In case you think this thread was the reason Tony got his money back, you're badly mistaken, all he had to do before this thread was text me that he wanted it back and I would have been gladly returned it...so don't even go there!!

Tony didn't want his money back. He wanted his rails fixed. Giving back the money doesn't fix his rails. And it doesn't fix your reputation.

why not wait and see how the op likes how his rails look when they get back to him.

just a hunch.

best,

A pool table assembly/repairman is not a mechanic. It is like when a garbage man is called a sanitation engineer. If all you did was coin operated ball return tables that still wouldn't be a mechanic. Closer, but not a mechanic.

Wow!...22 pages and still going! Hard to keep up with this thread when it grows 4-5 pages each day. I've followed it from day 1, and stayed out of it. There have been thoughtful posts on both sides of the issue (that being 99% poor followup communication). I thought Jay's last post was particularly insightful.

I know Glen...professionally and socially. Like Eric and others, I consider him my friend. I have seen him work...nobody works harder to make a table play perfectly. Very much the same way I try to help my students create the best set up and delivery process they can possibly have. I have worked with MANY of Glen's customers after he worked on their tables. NONE have ever complained about his work ethic. Almost ALL have complained about how long for him to get to them (a friend of mine waited 3 yrs, but loves his table now!). I hear that myself, in that sometimes I am unable to get to someone soon enough...before they lose interest or change their mind.

We have steered each other business, whenever possible. Can he be a little high strung? Sure...many at the top of their fields are. It is functionally impossible to totally please everyone...that doesn't mean we will ever stop trying! :D

Rkc

This has been an interesting thread. Post 135 mentions the OP's table was never set up and I wonder if that means it was in storage. I wonder who he will get to set up the table when he gets his rails and end caps back. OP keep us posted. RKC you spend a lot of time on the road and I wish you a safe journey. JJ
