The Official Bonus Ball Friday Night Thread

I wonder when (or if) the videos are coming up. Streaming can be great (obviously not in this case) but it starts at 3AM in my local time. I think I saw the first break and dozed to sleep (I was already in bed).

Not a big fan initially, but I would like to at least be able to check it out.

Oops, no more streaming. Just got this on facebook:

WPBL STATEMENT

LAS VEGAS (May 31, 2013)

The World Professional Billiard League’s live on-site production has been a success. However, our live stream has been met with various difficulties beyond our control. As a result, the WPBL staff has concluded not to air additional matches this weekend.
The WPBL’s season will continue as scheduled, and all live matches will be hosted on-site at the WPBL Arena. Those in the Las Vegas area are welcome to attend these matches for free. All matches from the league’s opening weekend will be recorded and uploaded to www.WPBLtv.com for fans to view at a later date. As a gesture of appreciation to our fans for their continued support during this time, week two of the season will also be aired live online for free.
We want to thank the billiard community and fans who have come from all corners of the world including Indonesia, Australia, Switzerland and many more for their interest in the sport of Bonus Ball. For years, we have been working tirelessly to assure that all aspects of the WPBL represent the best of the sport. We are dedicated to creating a top quality production just as we have built a state of the art facility to host this historic league and we appreciate your patience during this time.

Best Regards,
The Entire WPBL Staff

just announced, no stream this weekend,

I guess they would rather give up now then fix it.

the only thing i have to say is what my mother taught us, long, long ago; "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

So what you're really saying Mark, is that you didn't have anything nice to say about BB, otherwise you would have said it.

Considering your lack of nice words, we can assume that you were thinking the opposite.

So tell us what you're thinking. Get it out in the open. Its not healthy to keep that frustration inside.

You didn't miss much, or rather, anything at all.
I decided to forgo Fri night pool for BB.

After watching both the players and balls make trails across the screen,(for 2 hrs), I am still undecided as to whether I had an acid flash back or came close to an epileptic seizure.

Probably both. Then, for the little I could fade, I got tired of watching orange and purple balls.

I am glad that they decided to blame UStream for their troubles instead of their 100 K in video production equipment and are not streaming the rest of the events this weekend.

Lead me not into temptation.

I am attending a funeral Sat afternoon and after this evenings performance, I feel that
I also attended one this evening as well.

Cool, an official BB thread.

The event started at roughly 8:30 here in STL.

It started out just fine, good audio and good video.

It seemed, as time went by, that the audio was not in sync with the video. It got pretty bad.

Then as more time went by the video started to get real choppy (like Thursday night)

I like the BB concept. It reminded me of playing Golf on a 5x10 snooker table with 4 or 5 guys. If you have ever played Golf you know what I mean.

Where else can you find some of the best players in the world competing every week.

I think that after they get the stream and audio issues ironed out this we will all be in for a real treat.

Hang in there.

Good post! I like your style! :)

This from the social feed on ustream couple minutes ago:

"We are clearly having problems with UStream right now. It is not with our connection or equipment."

Sigh......

Followed minute later by this: "UStream is our emergency backup and it's obvious that it's not working correctly."

Whoever is typing must not understand how adding "clearly" and "obviously" to statements such as these in circumstances such as these make the entire organization look like an arrogant douchebag.

Just one guys opinion.

Edit to add: Maybe I'm being harsh but those responses just tilt me. My guess is the damage will be minimal though as I doubt anyone will actually see it other than the non-target audience in this thread.

I took several screen shots and have posted a couple in this thread. Video looks like alien puke but gfx at the bottom are not effected at all. How does ustream funk up only some of thier frame?

You think that sounds arrogant? You should read Nathan Dumoulin's thread.

- B <------------- thinks BB is dumb

It sure is easy to find fault and cast doubt on every single move that BB makes.

Instead of recognizing the positives, it seems like the negatives are the only thing highlighted.

Yes, it is disappointing that the livestream suffered from technical difficulties, but to continue to pound down BB over and over again seems to be popular, more so than rooting for them to succeed.

Why not root for them to succeed at this juncture? They're not hurting me. BB has already announced that the players are free to attend any event they want since they have substitute players on deck. :)

Reading some of the posts, it's as if like some are kicking BB while they're down on the ground. This forum trend hurts my heart. If I saw people doing this to another in person, I would do my best to stop it from happening, but that's me. BB doesn't deserve this. :(

It could be that my opinion is in the minority, but for the life of me, I just do not understand the negativity and constant post-after-post pummeling of BB. It's as if BB took money out of your pockets. I guess time is money for some, and I can understand that. If you thnk BB is a shtick, then move on to the next pool discovery. I'm sure there will be others down the road. We have so much to look forward to in this American pool world, right? :o

Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

This whole forum has really gone to shit with all the negativity over the last few years, most forums on the Internet suffer from this, not just here. I rarely come on here anymore because of it. Once BB gets all their kinks sorted out I still think it'll be quite good. I still look forward to watching once everything is in order.

It is true that our lament does sometimes come across as being from a position that is hoping for failure, but I think we all would love to see it be a success.

Same with the us open, ipt, that annigoni debacle,, camel tour...

As you know, azb is not the local pool room. Is is populated by movers, shakers and failures of pool's history, present and future. The bonuts ball repeatedly dismissed wizened input, choosing to blaze it's own trail and is proving 'it can't, sadly.

Many of us have close friends who are intimately invved in the game and its success would be a wonderful thing to witness.

I have my fingers crossed for the long run, at present...can't justify spending a penny on the venture. I prob can't even justify clicking a free stream link.

JAM, it's not negativity. it's reason.

Any scientist, mathematician, or critical analyzer, knows that to accurately test a given theory, one has to try and "punch holes" in it's basic premises, so one intentionally looks at the possible places where it is fallible and uses them to attempt to prove it untenable. If the theory survives all those attempts, then and only then can it be considered tenable.
