The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

Use the time to expand your pool mind. Watch videos and really study them.

Seriously ... THIS!

If you spend 3 hours a day or more watching pro matches (all of which can be found for free on youtube, etc) and taking notes about their shot choices, then go practice 2x a week with those notes; you'll see more improvement than playing 3 hrs a day doing random drills or playing the ghost.

You can get there both ways, sure, but when money is tight, free is always a great option - and you can really get your mind in stroke, as well as learn things - for free!

Quote JB:
":-) Getting put on ignore by Lou is a badge of honor. It basically means he can't fade the comebacks when he knocks.

Lou essentially wants to be the only one who can knock at leisure with no criticism for it.

IMO that is. I have no idea what is in his head."

All it means is that I figured out that an intelligent exchange is not possible with a particular individual. Sometimes it takes me awhile to figure that out or I give someone the benefit of the doubt for a little too long.

Even in your zaniness, John, I've never put you on "Ignore" because as whacked out as you are there is an internal consistency to it :-)

Rhea is deffinitely not the brains of this operation and won't be for a long time

Gene, yer a great guy but just remember that when you let your brains hang out in your nether regions, this is the type of situation that you will end up with.

Look how long it took Bill Clinton to learn.

Put her in your Spank Bank and cut her loose before you end up living in your vehicle.

I'm 72 years old and not set in my ways. I still look at porn looking for new positions to try out. Johnnyt

Oh Johnny, you so crazy.

Seriously, at 72, if you haven't got it mastered, you might wanna try a new pastime

Now that made me laugh out loud, seriously.:D But I don't understand why everybody's expectations were that Rhea would learn and retain everything immediately, make no mistakes, always do as she's told, don't talk back...in other words, internalize a complete personality makeover practically overnight. All humans get to make mistakes, several a day even, learn from them. I hear her say she's given Gene all the cash, all the authority, all the decision making...I think she's trying and I hope Gene can be as patient and instructive with her as with his other students. I don't think he's ever had one before that went all-in like Rhea has. Anyway, am enjoying the adventure. Hope it works out ok.

Scott Eller?

I haven't seen that Scott in a while. This Scott (Scottyisadufus) isn't Eller, Eller wouldn't bet playing basketball against a midget (I like SE, just truth).

Scottycantplaypool will gamble fo sho, and he has the ATM receipts to prove it LOL.

If you make it through TN, you can take him off first and then I will take the 8 and try you some.

Today she was trying to convince me that her drill is playing the 9 ball ghost. Start with the 3 then the 4 then the 5.

I told her she needs to do drills on what she needs to work on. not just wack in balls.

Then i asked her how that worked for her up until now? Where has that gotten you and to what level?

Exactly.

Then in the next sentence she is the favorite in any bar table tournament to win it.

i said no your not and she argued with me.

She feels if ths person beats this one and that one loses to this one that she is automatically the favorite to win a certain match.

i try to tell her it doesn't work that way.

When a player gets to a certain level the spots mean even less for the lesser player.

I'm dealing with a pool mind that is set on things a certain way that is so flawed in so many ways.

As soon as i think that she is coming around she starts telling me about how she can beat anyone. And the sad thing is that she really believes it?

I dropped her off at a tourny tonight that she won last week. I left her with $110. If she wins first again it pays about $50. She can have some fun.

Hopefully someone might step up and play her a little after the tourny but hope a player doesn't sneak n there and try to snap this small tourny off.

Rhea might try to trap them. Ans if they're not careful or don't play good enough she will.

Did you see my post? Find some time away from one another for a day or two

Sometimes ya'll confuse me. Almost like you forget the other one will be reading the forums LMAO.

P.S. I"m going to practice tomorrow for you. First time in almost 3 weeks.

dorabelle...You're confused. Playing the ghost is not practice at all...it's practicing playing. They are two different things. You can practice playing 24/7 and you may or may not get significantly better. In Rhea's case she should be doing disciplined practice (drills), that fine tune her stroke, and teach her how to control her cuestick...just like Gene told her. That's real practice. She should also be studying video matches, to see how better players pick patterns, and play defense...as was suggested recently in this thread. She is spinning her wheels, and I predict this train wreck will derail before much longer.

Playing the ghost is good practice.

Sounds like you all are starting to get on the other person's nerves quite a bit...

This happens a lot when two people are on the road together for long periods. Sometimes you have to take a break. Take a day or two away from one another for the majority of the day. Go out to see a movie or to the park. Just get yourself a break and enjoy time with yourself...both of ya'll.

You both might want to consider taking a break from posting for a few days. Your posts are starting to get combative a bit towards one another and posters are just gonna eat it up and add fuel to the fire.

The long hours on the road can really do a number on you mentally, especially in rough waters. Go to the gym and get some stress relief.
Good advice Bobby. You have to be with special friends to be able to get along all the time on the road. If you both think the same and understand the only way to make money is to be smart its easier, but if your partner is clueless good luck.

Someone needs to tell those ATMs to give more money when I want it. I'm a sucker you to could be the next recipient of my unloading the ATM.

You'd think right

Im going to disagree. Say you practiced one drill and only one drill for hours a day. I think you'd be pretty good at that drill compared to any other drills or compared to people who only practice that drill once in a while. Say that drill was running nine ball racks.

To assume that the human mind can only work on one aspect of something at one time is faulty. You can work on aiming and stance and pre-shot routine and addressing the ball in each shot. (while you run out). Or work on aiming while you run a few racks, and something else for a few racks. You can get a few birds stoned at once.

I think playing the ghost is the best practicing you can do. Playing the ghost you can see yourself improve as well and that builds confidence.

1. Cool, you're explaining to one of the best teachers the worthlessness of drills.
2. Apparently you missed the part about running nine ball racks is not a drill.
3. If you think trying to run racks is better for you than working on your stroke, don't plan on getting much better than you are now, if any better.
4. If you really think that you can do all that at once, without individual training to start with, either you are very, very, wrong, or I'll see you in the magazines very soon.
5. You can either listen to the instructors, or you can think you know more than they do about how to get better the fastest way. (don't think your way is going to work out to well for you;) But, good luck with it.)

Before you go getting all upset, shoot the cb straight up the table ten times each slow, medium, and hard. Let us know how many times it comes straight back to your tip. Then, let us know what level ghost you are beating playing 9 ball.

I am not a gambler by any means. To me it sound like Rhea just wants to gamble. I would assume she usually gets weight. Is it weight that she believes makes the match even or she is the favorite? If your getting weight and still can't win what does that say? Sound like it's like buying a car. You go in and find the car you want. There is a sticker price but you know if you work it right you can get a better deal. However you really don't know how good a deal you could a received. Unless you say is this the best deal you can give me and when the salesman says yes. You say thank you but I think I will shop around. Now a couple things can happen. You never hear from them again or they contact you with a better deal. Even then you can say say thanks but I will shop around. Same thing. They may contact you with a better deal or you may just find a better deal at another dealership. Rhea needs to learn to walk away. Let the deals come to her. Never act like your in a hurry to buy a car. When you do the salesman has you.

Funny I never hear the top pros talk about these things. Lol I'm a c player who can't hold a cue. But my cue ball comes back to my tip 9-10 times.

I remember hearing a bunch say they run racks for hours. Oh and it was also a top player who told me to only play the ghost over doing drills.

Gene dropped me off at this bar out in Hampton VA today and gave me $110 to work with, I bought into the tournament, purchased a 9 ball break and run Ticket, a soda, a candy bar, left a tip, went to McD's later on and got a McDouble. And I am sitting here typing this as my money count is at $145.00

Not too shabby but could have been better if those people at the bar would have played me for more money.

I practiced that drill a bit a long time ago. I could make the cue come back to my tip every time but at the time couldn't run a rack to saved life.
