Diamond Bigfoot Ten Ball Challenge

I would like to get in. Is that possible?

I think all players that posted a top 10 in all four of the 2013 DCC 9-ball, the 2013 Ultimate 10-ball, the 2013 US Open 10-ball and the 2013 US Open 9-ball should be invited.

Here's the list. Wait, never mind, only Mike Dechaine is on that list.

Speaking as a fan, I'd like to see Mike invited.

I can't see them wanting us on tar
I'd pay to watch this..

My opinion of your post and intentions!

Fact: Darren helped you???

Fact: Darren WAS offended enough to fight?

Stay out of everyone's business..

Speak to Tar and play the race to 100. I will bet my cardboard box on it...

And before KD chimes in again, this is not a calling out, woofing at Chris etc Just a friendly match no animosity...
Please see above...

So is Lee willing to gamble with Chris or did he only say he wants a race to 100 to get a freeroll at some money through TAR?

If it's the latter, that's pretty weak to call everyone on the list saying you'll play any of them, only then to say I'll do it if it's on TAR. I will play anyone in the world on TAR right now, lol

Wow, someone else thought he was calling them out!

But, took it a step further!

So, Darren did not let you mention him in your book and try to help you?

He owes you for a tip made in passing that converted him into a champion? Not his own hard work?

You can't see how offensive your comments would be?

Just like you don't see how you disrespected the other players on the alternate list?

This is my last post in this thread! my comment was a joke and not personal.

I wish Jay would make it 32 players, there are only 3 pro events next year so maybe now is the time the 10ft events became the new 32 player invitational events.

I agree. If you can get 32 paid players into a $1000 entry single elimination tournament that would suddenly have a $48, 000 purse and could then pay ~$24, 000 for first you are on the right path to making the tournament the type of thing that pro pool needs to shift to to become viable.

Imagine where the WSOP main event would be if it had limited it's entries to the original level of the tournament back in the 70's.

This thing being single elimination allows for more players without taking forever. Get an extra table if need be. These 10-foots are obviously popular, let these events grow.

I like your train of thought. So many people are caught up in making pool huge and popular again ala post color of money. They need to worry about keeping it viable. It is on life support now if we haven't noticed.

It wouldn't be tough to get 32 players.

Getting 32 players to cough up $1,000? That's the challenge.

So you want 32 players to pay $1,000 each. I imagine 8 of them would earn some prize money (with one of them getting half the purse) and 24 would get nothing. How is that exactly what pro pool needs?

I understand what you're saying, but do invitees in other sports like tennis, golf, bowling, and others, promised money no matter where they finish? Johnnyt

In PGA golf, players are paid to play in the Wednesday pro am, so even if they miss the cut they make a couple of thousand.

Johnny, I can't give you a good answer to your question. I'm not sure what events in golf, tennis, and bowling are "invitational" as opposed to open or by qualification.

As for golf and tennis, the scale of those sports is so different from pool as to make comparisons kind of meaningless. On the PGA Tour, over 200 players made over $100,000 (before expenses) this past year. And there are many other tours for professional golfers in the US and around the world. In many PGA Tour events, about half the field makes the cut, and everyone making the cut gets paid. But there are so many events, and the money is so good in the events, that a player can miss the cut in many events and still do well if he has a few good finishes. In some smaller-field events, everyone gets paid. In some of the large tennis tournaments, everyone who qualifies to play gets paid.

I don't know about the financial structure of bowling, but that sport is certainly closer in scale to pool than it is to golf.

But I guess the main issue is -- how can any significant number of people earn a living by playing in pool tournaments if the sport has only a few "pro" events per year and only a small fraction of the entrants earn any money in those events. Maybe it's just a weeding-out process, with only a handful of people really able to earn a living that way. Maybe that's OK.
