Rodney shows up in Reno

I really do hope one day these guys can work this out. It really is a shame actually because Rodney is a draw and a good guy. Mark has done a good deal for pool and I know he takes things personally with Bonus Ball and the players which is understandable. I think most who have met either of these guys in person and had an actual conversation would say they are good people. I hope this year brings change for the better, last year was messy and the pool world seemed to be divided, if many in the industry along with fans came together then pro pool would have a fair chance.

What he said...

Wise words

Rules rules rules…there are rules for everything and everyone. When enforcing rules you must hold your ground (stick to the punishment) when you don’t enforce the rules the troops will continue to break them, knowing they can get away with it. The rule in life is called RESPECT. And it applies both ways.

This is not about Rodney it's about the rules. As long as the rules are enforced equally for everyone then you have structure, if they are not then you will have chaos.

I think CSI is on the best road for pool. Pool needs a new direction and a huge makeover.

It's an honor to be able to pick up a cue stick and go to work. Every time you take that cue out of the case you should cherish that moment, every ball, every scratch, every game set or match, for it may be your last. If you don’t like the rules then go elsewhere.

When you disrespect yourself, the game, fans, peers, the boss etc. expect repercussions. Go to other countries and steal….off with your finger or hand. Look how the crime rate is, zero tolerance carries weight. If you don’t like the country then move.

I believe in certain situations zero tolerance is best, I believe this to be one of them. This may or may not be a step back for Rodney but a major step for billiards.

My personal opinion is irrelevant as I see things black and white with very little grey area, add that to OCD and I will say no more. I am more than happy to help you, As long as you do it my way.

Everyone comes to this topic form a different vantage point. You and I, I'm pretty sure, share the same thoughts on this topic, and Rodney sure is fortunate to have a friend in you, Mr. Young.

Time needs to transpire for this to settle. Threads like this one, however, keep feeding fuel to the fire.

When time passes by, this controversy could heal itself. Rodney Morris is *not* a bad person. He is caught up in the pool celebrity world with all of its Vegas-type distractions and occupational hazards. I am going to pray that Rodney Morris' future will be a good one. I also hope Mark Griffin continues to enjoy what he's doing in the pool world. It is truly a labor of love for him.

Thanks JAM. I think we share the same thoughts because we both know intimately what it takes to be the performer, the guy/gal in the spotlight, the guy/gal who they boo when he fails or hangs on to when everything goes right. It takes a lot of commitment, practice, and poverty during the course of that assent. 99 out of a 100 who aspire to reach that pinnacle of success fail. And that success only lasts so long. I could say more but I wont. You know.
I thank those who do work hard to make pool what it is. My friend Justin and Mark who has done great things. But my heart will always be with the player.

Chris just because you don't know me doesn't mean that I post anonymously. Many people on this forum know who I am. Many know me as Mr Wu because I happened to play Mr Wu in the series Deadwood. I also played Mr Wu in Men in Black 3. Many on here know I was on True Blood last season as well as Sons of Anarchy. I don't like to bandy about my name because I already get some of the weirdest mail since I also have been in Star Trek (tv) and Deep Space 9. And they have the craziest of fans.
I have not been banned but I have been 86'd from places in my younger days. I also burned many bridges when I managed to piss directors, writers, and producers off when I was a young aspiring performer. I learned my lesson and now am pretty active and well accepted. As a matter of fact I am in next weeks episode of NCIS LA. Many many good people know who I am on this site. Youre one who doesn't. Nice to meet you.
I also am from the great island of Hawaii. Born and bred and proud of it too. But man I am not bitter. I can just understand the frustrations of any professional trying to make it in a world that is so difficult and with a short shelf life. I ask you to understand that we are all human and we make mistakes and no ones career should just go down the drain with out a little compassion and understanding. If I think back to all the mistakes Ive made Im very glad that Im here with a good family who I can support with children who I am proud of. If there were those who weren't there to understand and forgive I would probably be back in the islands dreaming of what ifs.
For all that Rodney has accomplished in his life I ask you to think if he deserves to be bounced out of the game. I don't think so.

I saw you the other night on one of my FAVORITE shows: NCIS Los Angeles. You played the boss at the fish market, where there was a bombing.

Man, you really do get around, Yobagua! :wink2:

If you bring Keone up on IMDb, you better set aside some time if you want to read it all.

Hello Jenny, tell Keith it was great talking with him the other day. I told him when my band plays close to you, I would invite you guys to a show. He told me a lot of things to practice and it really helped me, especially shooting off the rail:-).

Best,

Mark Kendall/Great White

Mark;

I don't know a lot about your band, Great White, its members and their history but I'm assuming this is the same band who were on stage when the terrible "Station" fire broke out in RI.

If that is the case, G-d bless you, man, along with all of the families and friends of the100 people who lost their lives in that incredible tragedy.

best,
brian kc.

Mark,

Are you the bassist by any chance. If you are, you stopped by Classic Billiards in Rochester many, many years ago. I played you for a couple of hours. Had to leave. You then played Roy Ruffin for a few hours more. Didn't make the connection till your post.

Hi, Mark. I know Keith really enjoyed speaking with you. Please do let us know when you come to D.C. area. I'd love to see you play, and so would Keith. He says we never get past Whole Foods anymore. My 2007 Volvo only has 12,000 miles on it. :embarrassed2:

Man, I'd really enjoy seeing you jam. Lead guitarist. Wow! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Brian:

That's still a sore topic, even though it happened 11 years ago. If you read the Wiki article for it and view the Brian Butler video, you'll understand why.

BTW, I was actually planning to go to that show that Thursday night -- take the leisurely drive up to RI with some friends from work -- but work project commitments that week -- due by close-of-business the next day (Friday) -- prevented us. Noone could've guessed that was a blessing in disguise.

Anyway, you'll recall it was a sad, sad day.

Burned bridges can always be rebuilt. Takes time but it's possible. Humans have an amazing capacity to forgive.

I believe on forgiveness and second chances - most of us need that sooner or later but my rule is first I have to be convinced the person has changed. I also find as I get older I have less tolerance for fools and people who are a pain in the ass.

I don't know Rodney or Mark but I don't see this as personal. Mark is working hard to put on these events whether it is Rodney or John Doe he doesn't have time for any bull. No different from pool halls which have a list of people who are banned. Most pool halls are operating on a small profit margin and if someone is bad for business they get banned.

Deadwood is the best cable series ever made, IMO. Too bad it got cancelled and didn't have a proper conclusion.

My favorite Western as a kid was Gunsmoke. Prior to Gunsmoke guys like Roy Rodgers and Hopalong Cassidy would shoot a guy in the arm or shoot the gun out of his hand. Marshall Dillon would send a guy to meet his maker. It was also a well written series which dealt with a lot of social topics but he constant over the 20+ years of the series was if Marshall Dillon told you to get out of Dodge by sundown, you would be well advised to take it seriously.

Looks like all of the AZ celebrities are coming out of the deadwood work (see what I did there? I know that was tricky).

I suppose now is a good time to let you all know that I'm really batman and you don't even have to capitalize it when referring to me or you can if you want. I don't care either way.

I feel so much better now.

Absolutely, "Justified" is my all-time favorite show right now. Second on the list, however, is the new HBO six-episode series "True Detective" with Woody Harrelson and Matt McConaughy. ;)

Favorite actor is Walton Goggins who plays Boyd Crowder!

I read in some information about the show that in the original script Boyd was killed at the end of the first episode. They changed it just "in case". Man are they happy now they didn't kill him off :)

I couldn't put my finger on why I really liked Walton Goggins so much until recently. He looks almost *exactly* like my brother, the brother who lives in the mountains of California. My brother and Boyd both have that "gaze" that is quite unusual.

Between Boyd and Raylan, Boyd is 'da man. :grin-square:

Only one more season after this. :(

Here is the gaze. They don't even have to speak. Just one look and that's all it takes. If looks could speak . . .

I think Goggins' performance on Justified is one of the best performances in any role by any actor I have ever seen.

And that gaze... You're right. If he's not crazy in real life then he's an even better actor than I thought...
